I made block poetry with my philosophy textbook
Abdelhaq Djellab
And honestly I just miss you, and I wish I could tell you about the long days and strange faces, how nothing ever feels familiar like you. I’ve been dreading writing this ‘poem’ because none of these words ever scratch the surface of the fire burning inside of me, the walls I’ve built are caving and the people here keep screaming and I can’t save them, And all I hear is I,I,I but there are burning buildings in front of me. And I know i started it, I know that you have every reason to hate me. I hate me too and sometimes you, but I can’t shake you, no you see, for so long I thought yeah, I hurt you but you hurt me too; but love isn’t spiteful. It took losing you to understand that, you once told me we would always make our way back together, said that what we had wasn’t ‘conventional’ but it was ours. And I will never tell you this because that would be selfish and I’m not sure if I even really want you to come back. I just know that I miss you. But I know that fire and water don’t mix. And don’t think I could ever escape you, I promised to always love you and I do, I do, I do. But I’ll always be me and you’ll always be you and to scrafice that would be an injustice to ourselves. I just hope wherever you are you’re okay, I still pray for you and I always will and if we ever make it back home may we only move together
The War For Phoenix Street
part twenty four
a heart composed of loaded memories and full of fake promises. i suppose ours are similar; both filled with malice. though mine is much more broken than yours. but you couldn't even begin understand that.
