pls do tell me more ab the magnus armor related characters im interested
Before Minimus Ambus, there were a few other mechs who were Ultra Magnus. In MTMTE they were only mentioned by name, and very little detail was given about them, so I’m working on making designs for them. I already sketched rough designs in this post, and I’m planning to give them all colors!
First, there was the original Magnus. He was known for being rather stern and serious on the battlefield, and being a very good lawyer. He wasn’t exactly the best fighter, but, like everyone, he’s got his weaknesses. At some point, he died. It is never pointed out exactly when he died, but it was some point between a Decepticon invasion of Iacon and the Battle for Hell’s Point.
When he died, Tyrest got the idea to make an armor fashioned from him, in order to keep up his legacy.
The first Magnus Armor Loadbearer was Suture! As her name suggests (suture = a stitch to hold a wound together), she is the most medically skilled of all the loadbearers. She turns into a small car, somewhat similar to Bumblebee’s alt mode in ROM vs. TF. In addition to having knowledge in medicine, Suture also had an interest in upholding the rights of Cybertronians, which led her to actually knowing the original Magnus. Sadly and inevitably, she died along the way of being Magnus. It is never stated how, but in a personal headcanon storyline I have, she died in a vicious sharkticon attack.
After the Magnus Armor was rebuilt and fixed, Datum took on the mantle of it! Datum turned into a datapad, which might strike you as very odd, right? A loadbearer — a point-one percenter — having a disposable class alt mode? I made the choice as a little punch in the face for Functionism. It also happens that Datum is highly against Funtionism. Out of all of the loadbearers, they’re the most likely to punch a Functionist in the face. Anyway, Datum was “a very brave statistician,” in Minimus’ words. They took risks, but they weren’t stupid with them. Datum calculated the risks and benefits of almost everything they did. Sadly, his confidence in his calculations was his downfall. At the Battle for Hell’s Point, he estimated that the Warriors Elite (y’know, the strongest group of Decepticons ever to be in Megatron’s ranks) wouldn’t shoot him because he was standing on top of a sensitive engine. He guessed wrong and paid with his life.
Then the third Magnus came along, his name being Ramp. Out of all of them, I’d have to say he’s probably the least organized of the bunch. Not necessarily in a way where he doesn’t care about his work and stuff (he cares!!) but in a way that he might be a little scatterbrained. He’s a little prone to zoning out and such. The mech is very skilled in high speed chases though, as his alt is a motorcycle. He was meant to become a racer and had successfully trained as that for a long time before deciding that he wanted to pursue law. He was Magnus for a few thousand years, and died under a barrage of bombs on the planet Clemency.
The fourth Magnus was rather different than the rest. Blockus. He was a purple helicopter who had trouble with flying and transforming. His t-cog was damaged in the forging process, so transforming became an uncomfortable experience for him. He was the most humor inclined Magnus, if that term makes sense. He would crack jokes and laugh with you even as he was pushing you into a jail cell. I have some silly little stories in mind for him actually. He was the most charismatic of the Magnuses and he liked carrying as many weapons on him as possible (a just in case!!!! kind of thing). Ultimately, his humor nor preparedness couldn’t save him from his death at the Simanzi Massacre.
After him, was the fifth Magnus… who was none other than Minimus Ambus! You probably know some stuff about him, but I’ll just say a little bit anyway, haha! Minimus is from the noble House of Ambus, an Iaconian ‘family’ of mecha that arose from a similar spark spot. He wasn’t forged to serve any particular function or fill any specific niche, and nor were the members of his family — the Ambuses were alt mode exempt (the house formed in a time period where Functionism was vital to the course of people’s lives, so this is pretty significant). Minimus is very, very stern with rules, mainly because he wants order and to keep people safe. This might turn into Minmin Rambling About Minimus, so I’ll just end it there for now.
In an unspecified altercation around the 1700’s, Minimus Ambus got so injured that he had to retire from the armor. At this point it seemed like he might not even go back to it, so a new Magnus took on the armor. This Magnus was Convoy. He was also from a noble house, the House of Commeatus. This house was largely military based, with many of its members going on to be successful warriors and generals. Convoy was caught up in the rush of this and had to have his frame modded to become a large military convoy truck to fit standard. He is very proud of the standard and laws he upholds, seeing them as ways to control the unruly citizens. Also, he is very skilled in coding and hacking! He is much more aggressive and angry than the other Magnuses. More prone to swearing, etc, etc. On the planet Xetaxxis, he was possessed by dire wraiths, and was killed so the wraith infection wouldn’t spread. Then, Minimus took on the armor once more, and that’s pretty much the story!
I do have a few other lore bits about all of ‘em and things that I’m still developing, but this post is already long as it is. Thank you for sending in an ask, Anon!
