Frankly, as someone who appreciates a well-thought-out script and strong character development, I really dislike the Hellaverse. Rio 2 suffered from the same thing, and I sincerely detested it. The relationship between the feathered married couple in the sequel is written in a way that perfectly suits Vivienne's writing abilities. As the saying goes, "If you hate something so much, laugh at it."

Happy 15th anniversary to Rio released in the US, it's one of my favorite movies of all time that I have been watched as a kid. But it's not only that, because the Crossworlds Red DLC was officially out in the same date.

Speaking of that, I have made a little tweet in TwiXtter from a few days ago seeing that it was the same date that the first Rio movie came out from 15 years ago (On other words, it feels like Angry Birds Rio and the Brazilan release of Rio both released in March 22).

Oo, I haven’t drawn a stylised bird in a while…

The only thing is that I could not resist adding zygodactyl feet (two forward-facing digits, two backwards-facing digits) instead of just two in front and one in the back, since actual macaws have that for better grip and it was bugging me… and, a smidge more of colour variation (not very visible with the shading though lol) because Blu is based off of a Spix macaw, and those have a really neat/interesting colour gradient.

Blu is a rare Spix's macaw who was poached as a chick, and when he fell out of the back of his poacher's truck, he was taken in by a kind bookstore owner from Minnesota. He's very comfortable around human things, but as a result of his upbringing didn't learn to fly, and this makes things awkward for him when he's chosen to participate in a breeding program to try and save his species, as he's not sure how to properly interact with the female macaw (Jewel) introduced to him.

Smart, but also shy and socially awkward, Blu struggles to express his feelings, but he's very sweet and cares deeply about others. He even finds it in himself to risk his life trying to save Jewel, and in the process finally learns how to fly and finds more confidence in himself.

There was a trend on Spanish speaking twitter a while ago where people made Blu from Rio a new girlfriend because of how Jewel treated him in the second movie, so I figured why not make my own for giggles LMAO Am I late and on a different platform? Oh so very. But I had fun!

Meet Guinevere, a Camelot macaw! (A first generation hybrid between a blue-and-gold macaw and scarlet macaw) I imagine she's probably also semi-domestic. I think she turned out super cute!

I had a lot of fun doing style studies to draw her properly, though I heavily referenced Blu for his drawing to try and get him to look right LMAO I haven't drawn birds much before this, but I'm really happy with how this turned out. >:) Mwehe
