Rewatched Rio for the 100th time and finally decided to design my own oc based on it!

Meet Luluana - a macaw & flamingo mix <3

Luluana (Lulu in short) is a very kind-hearted, energetic and cheerful birb! More than anything else in the world, she loves spending her time flying high in the sky and constantly visiting different places. Lulu is a big fan of carnivals and everything party-themed as well, she loves to dance and perform various maneuvers in the sky 💫

* Some extra notes about the design:

- the inner and outer wing markings differ slightly

- Lulu can be drawn with any feet type (climbing or perching ones; check the last pic to see the difference)

- her beak might look more canonically accurate like macaws from Rio have, or like the one in my ref sheet. any option works :>

Frankly, as someone who appreciates a well-thought-out script and strong character development, I really dislike the Hellaverse. Rio 2 suffered from the same thing, and I sincerely detested it. The relationship between the feathered married couple in the sequel is written in a way that perfectly suits Vivienne's writing abilities. As the saying goes, "If you hate something so much, laugh at it."

While researching RIO (2011) I found this behind the scenes. Blu's animator has pretty reasonable personal memorabilia in his office- he's got movies, muppets, pictures of his family...

and then there's Nigel's animator who is just absolutely obsessed with Nigel
