i dont know if i believe this is intentional but i find it fascinating how the two most prominent character traits of the blue gnome are also exactly what AI chatbots are like

sycophantic but also constantly sliding into sexually charged language even if that's not remotely what the user wants out of them, because in the context of AI chatbots, the big bucks come from drawing in people looking for that !

but of course these traits are exactly what makes the blue gnome so repellent to the player

i think it's an interesting contrast with nearly every other AI character in both this and hlvrai where, as ive mentioned before, they are intended as simulacrums of human connection, and that they "fail" in that purpose by behaving closer to a real human connection, warts and all. this applies most significantly to benrey of course (so of course Video Boyfriend is called that and packaged that way) but all of the AIs can be analyzed under this lens. except the blue gnome. all the blue gnome wants is the player. the player's attention. the player's. um. other. things.
