An Allegory of Astronomy
Artist: Moses Haughton the Younger (British, 1773-1849)
Date: ca. 1790's
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Private Collection
Description
This appears at first glance to be a portrait of a lady in a landscape, against the sort of the rocky promontory which first appears in British art with the painting of Van Dyck, in which it features as an emblem of constancy as well as a convenient framing device. But in reality - though it may well also be a portrait of a now unknown sitter - the wealth of accoutrements reveal the painting to be an allegorical representation of one of the sciences, perhaps astronomy, which would agree with her sky-gazing attitude.

I was comparing Mipha’s earlier gear to her simpler Champion scarf. The blue sash-like thing and the gold braid are much like what Sidon wears. But also some of her jewelry that hangs about her neck changes too.
A friend (Sash lol) pointed out how strange my nicknames for people are, other then our “discount marauders” ones some names are like kinda relevant but others are just random
Like some of Sash’s are Gif, Dropout and Magpie
(Let me know if what their stories lol)
But I’ve also started calling @ghosts-of-hogwarts Baby carrots (which hasn’t been acknowledged yet lol)
I have some great ones too lol (also let me know if you wanna know some lol)
