Bakugo x you
Another Bakugo Katsuki x You.
But with no real plot, just something I ended up writing?
No beta read.
Chapter:
Bakugo Katsuki was interesting.
You watched him berating Kirishima and Kaminari for not understanding something as they studied for the upcoming tests, snorting as the red-haired boy snapped back while Kaminari grabbed onto his blonde-hair black hair.
He acted like he didn’t care about anyone but himself, but You had seen first hand his determination to ensure everyone’s safety - his goal to surpass All Might and become a number One Hero. You’d tagged the boys along after Kaminari begged you, muttering how that with you around Bakugo would be easier to deal with. You’d merely shaken your head, but a promise of free food was what brought you along.
It was never an intention to follow Bakugo, just something he decided by grabbing Your things and telling them that you guys were heading out.
Bakugo Katsuki was a known explosion-boy, Your Quirk was only opposite of his - Liquid. You controlled a certain substance of liquid, still learning how to control them better, how to make it work to suit your fighting style. To work with your classmates. So far, your best team-work was with both Bakugo Katsuki and Todoroki Shoto.
Having been paired up with one of the two so often that it had become a second nature, a habit. Recently, you've started to learn working with Deku. Much to Bakugo’s irritation, something that Kirishima would call jealousy. Ashido enjoyed messing with You, making suggestive gestures whenever You were teamed up with Bakugo. Hagakure made gestures, which you believed to be kissing sounds. Jiro and Tsuyu-chan would smack Mineta whenever he joined the teasing, as he often went a step too far.
Or You’d use a nearby liquid to threaten to strangle him, demonstrating it with a dark expression.
You found your class to be fun, the desire to get stronger to protect them only grew day by day. Your friendship with Bakugo grew, a habit grew in which you guys took almost daily strolls in a nearby park. Sometimes, the two of you would be training, competing almost. Other times, he’d be saying nothing but let you vent. Sometimes, you’d let him rant about Midoriya Izuku.
You’d listen to him wondering, theorizing, how a guy he claimed to be Quirkless suddenly got a Quirk. How he got into the U.A.
You never told him, but you enjoyed listening to him more than you’d ever admit it.
He took you two over to a pond, people barely glanced at the two of you, having long grown used to your presence there. They knew better than to bother Bakugo. Whether it was over his Slug-Villain capture or both of you for the Villains getting into the school. He’d been more at the edge since, watching You with something you couldn’t decipher.
You had ended up not too far from Todoroki Shoto, making full use of your Liquid Quirk to take care of the Villains, controlling the nearby water. Turning some of their own Quirks against the owners. You admitted being impressed by Shoto, by Midoriya and Bakugo. You admitted having been glad that none of your classmates got hurt, besides Midoriya.
But at this point, it was almost a given that Midoriya would be hurt by his own Quirk.
You sat on a chair, shaded by a tree growing right behind it. The leaves provided them cover from the sun, as Bakugo stood with his hands pocketed. You crossed your legs, watched him with a waiting breath. Wondering and waiting, not knowing what would be said this time.
Something in Bakugo had changed, even more since the USJ incident.
“I don’t like this,” ah there it is, You thought as Bakugo grit out the words.
His ash-blond spiky hair looked brighter under the sun, his reddish eyes seemed to be trying to read Your very soul. You raised an eyebrow.
“Midoriya and All Might?”
“That, and how did the Villains get into USJ?”
You nodded, getting his point. You could see the unease on your teachers' faces afterwards, the questioning and wondering how did the villains know - how did they know that it was All Might’s class? What the fuck had that mutated creature been, what was Nomu? There were too many questions that needed to be answered.
“A likely case, there’s a traitor within our school,” You answered as Bakugo joined you on the chair. His hand was thrown on the back of the chair, fingers almost touching your back.
He glanced up at the sky, from your perspective, his view was covered by the leaves. “A fucking traitor…tch.”
You shrugged, turning your attention to the pond before you. It was sparkling, ducks and swans swimming. You could see butterflies and dragonflies flying around, taking cover in the green life. Somewhere, birds chirped. Sounds of trains and cars, and chattering from the people filled the air. The weather was beautiful, peaceful.
It was unlike what your class had experienced just a week ago.
“It could be anyone,” you said, looking back at him only to find Bakugo watching you. Intently. “From what I’ve heard, Tomura Shigaraki isn’t just any Villain. That bunch he came with? A mere test.”
“To distract All Might?”
You nodded, “Probably to exhaust him, not expecting us to be capable of more than running to safety or trying to hide. They underestimated us a bit too much.”
“Which means they won’t do it, again.”
“If they had a brain, yeah.”
The two of you stared at each other, remembering the fight between All Might and Nomu. Remembering that gate Bakugo had briefly caught. Remembering Shigaraki Tomura taking down Aizawa-sensei. How your other teacher was also easily defeated.
He ran a hand through his hair, seeming to glare at his own hand.
“Say,” he wasn’t looking at you. “I don’t like you getting chummy with that Half-and-Half bastard.”
You blinked, “Shoto?”
He glared at you, “That! Why do you call him by his first name?”
You snorted, a bulb lighting up in your mind with an understanding. “Because he said I can, he calls me Y/N as well. Why?”
“That’s what I want to hear! It’s almost like you and he are dating or something!”
“Or something?” You tilted your head, watching as Bakugo got more and more bothered. As fumes started to appear from his palms, his fingers twitched. Your tone was light, teasing.
“You know fucking well what,” he hissed, getting in your face.
He was so close that you could almost count Bakugo’s eyelashes.
“I’m not a mind-reader, Katsuki,” you said, grin never fading. You watched as he stiffened at the sudden first name drop, before you poked him on the nose, chuckling as you did so. “If you want me to call you by your first name, just say that.”
“...Stop poking me,” he muttered, looking away.
Kirishima was right, Bakugo looks like an angry Pomeranian dog, You thought as Your hand went from poking his nose to the tip of his hair. His hand flew up, catching it by your wrist. Then, suddenly you found yourself tugged forward.
You startled, letting out a strangled noise before it was muffled by something soft against your lips.
Your heart skipped a beat.
Everything went silent, for a moment you could only see and feel Bakugo Katsuki’s hands around you and his lips on yours. Okay. Okay. Okay. Your mind went haywire, you could feel your face turning red. The blood in your body thumped, beat so loudly that it almost deafened you.
“At least warn me if you start calling someone by their first name,” Bakugo said, after he pulled away. You blinked and your jaw was dropped.
You half-sat and half lied in his embrace, refusing to look at your surroundings as you were more than certain that people were watching. You could hear a couple of older women talking about ah, such bold youth! Such a young love!
You found Bakugo Katsuki interesting, that much was certain. You just hadn’t realised he was interested in you in this way. But it wasn’t a bad idea. You could learn to roll with him, learn to follow and understand Bakugo Katsuki.
Thus you nodded, “I’ll warn you if someone else should try to do the same as you just did.” You couldn’t help but tease him, finding it fitting considering there had been no warning to his intentions.
Or you’d been blind.
Or in denial.
Whatever the case, romance hadn’t been part of your plans.
But it could be if it was with Bakugo Katsuki.
