Moonraker was a radio drama adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1955 novel that was adapted by the Durban Repertory Theatre for the SABC's Springbok Radio. It is variously reported to have aired in either 1955, 1956, 1957 or 1958 and no extant copies are known to exist. Possibly not authorised by Fleming or his agents, it was the first radio adaptation of a 007 novel and starred actor (and future Blockbusters host) Bob Holness as James Bond for the first and only time.

Blockbusters

I was a bit young to fully enjoy Blockbuster. I would have struggled to answer a question like “What ‘O’ is the generic word for any living animal or plant, including bacteria and viruses?”.

That question was answered incorrectly with “Orgasm” during a famous outtake, that cheeky sense of humour ran throughout and then there was the host, Bob Holness. His response to the above was to cooly but…
