Het gevoel van welbehagen is afhankelijk van tegenstellingen. De Palmanswijk in het Belgische Bocholt. Gebouwd in 1938 in opdracht van H. Palmans, door architect Peer Helsen. Het waren huurwoningen, bedoeld voor de soldaten en hun families van het Grenswielersbataljon, die gelegerd waren in de nabijgelegen kazerne. Rij kleine, identieke sociale woningen, met aan weerszijde van de rij telkens een grote tweewoonst, en in het midden een hoge, vierkante torenconstructie. Het geheel is inmiddels bouwkundig erfgoed, ondanks dat er maar 1 woning nog in originele staat is. De torenwoning staat te koop.
