So how do you sort the books on your shelves?

Personally, I sort them by color and height. Like tallest red to shortest red, tallest orange to shortest orange, so on. Not only does it look nicer, but it's easier for me to remember what book I'm looking for by size and color than by name.

Unhinged ways to organise your books

alphabetically by the first letter of each book (thank you good omens)

by number of chapters

by number of pages if you wanna be specific

by number of words if you wanna be even MORE specific

Alphabetically by the first character introduced

By the birth/death date of the author (chronologically, of course)

Chronologically by publishing date

By the star rankings of their movie adaptations

By the age of the author at the point of publication

Next weekend I plan to start the process (and it will be a multi-day process) of taking down, counting, sorting and reshelving ALL of my books. Any that I decide not to keep will be donated to the library or to a charity shop. Happy to hear guesses from you guys about how many books I have (enough to 'qualify' as a library, I wonder?) right up until I finish counting. Note that any book containing a collection of stories or an omnibus will be counted as one. 📚

Alphabetising my TBR

Alphabetising my TBR - not even sure why I decided this would be great for me to do but y'know I've done it now.. 😂

Not sure why I decided this was a good idea but I wanted to arrange all of my books in alphabetical order by the authors last name on my bookshelves which did take me a while but then I was able to do the same with my TBR list that I wrote down, and I thought I’d do a blog post on it for some reason…

So I found an app that lets you log all your books into it and sort them into different categories. Sadly it doesn’t let you sort them into genre. It’s called LibraryThing. At least it is on IOS. the different categories are: Your Library, Wishlist, Currently Reading, To Read, Read but Unowned, and Favorites. I honestly love it so far. I have found out that I have 76 books minus my bibles. It lets you either scan a bar code or input it manually by searching the title. It did fuck up a couple of times due to apparently not being able to scan mass-produced works or just not finding it in the database. Overall its really good and I think it’s a good start for virtually keeping all your books in one place. So go download it. It’s free.
