Hi everyone! Your mod here.
I have a lot of big ambitions about getting books to readers. That’s been a big passion of mine for getting close to a decade. Earlier this year, over on twitter, I started the tag #bookishwish, for people to tweet the books they’re looking for or books they’re getting rid of. But for the holidays, I wanted something bigger.
Enter Holiday Bookish Wish.
The goal of this project is to make sure as many people as possible who might not normally get books this time of year can get at least one of their wishes granted. I obviously can’t police everyone’s needs, but the way I’m doing it helps to spread it a bit wider than the tag does.
Essentially, you can fill out one of the forms. This one allows you to sign up to get a book and this one allows you to sign up to give a book.
You fill out your name, pronouns, and email so I can get in touch with you. If you want to receive a book, you let me know which are your most desired books, if you’re okay with used books, and what country you live in. You can also decide if you’d be willing to accept an anonymous donation, in which case you can submit your address in the form or submit your email again so I’ll get in touch with you to get your address and pass it to your donor. I wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable and secure and I’m the only one with access to the form answers, so I and your donor are the only ones who will see that information. Similarly, if you’re interested in giving books, you let me know where you’re comfortable shipping, if there are any specific books you may have on your shelves and want to ship out or any specific books in general you’d prefer to send, and if you want to be an anonymous donor.
Unlike the tag, this isn’t about getting collectible editions or ARCs or anything of the sort. This is just about helping other readers so they can have a book this year.
This is internationally open - most people are willing to send anywhere BookDepository ships, so if you’re not on that list, you can still fill out the form and I can try to match you, but I make no promises. I can’t promise anyone that their wish will be granted. I have more requests than I have donors and there’s only so much I can do to combat that. I’m also making all of the matches myself as best as I can and I have to do other things, so it might be a slow process, but I’m doing my best to make sure the generosity is spread widely.
If you’re interested in giving or receiving, please go ahead and fill out the forms. Whether you fill them out or not, I hope you spread the word. The more people I have filling out the form, the higher the odds are I make good matches.
