boost is worse. Diggernaut has a cool theme, design and interesting patterns, despite being a pain. Boost Guardian is an ugly blob that hurts the soul
Thinking on it, I realized that everything that Diggernaut does is skill based. A vast majority of its attacks are very easily dodgeable once you have enough experience with the Space Jump. “Car wash” attack? Easy. Slamming its drill arms to create shockwaves? Easy! Dodging the lasers? Easy! The game might not actually explain that the Spider Ball negates its vacuum attack but once you learn that? Easy!
Whereas Diggernaut is a pure test of mechanical skill, the Bosot Guardian is an ugly black blob sent from hell to torment you with RNG. It’s possible to win purely out of skill but I don’t think most gamers can make ricochet angle calculations on the fly like that. On top of that, Diggernaut doesn’t damage you just for being near it, unlike Dark Aether’s bullshit atmosphere. I understand they couldn’t give you a light crystal because light heals you over time and automatically damages the Ing but Retro could have at least had the common decency to compromise and make it a Light Aether boss.
