The Incredible Illustrations of the Natural World
I have found inspiration in the works of Ernst Heinrich Haeckel who was a German zoologist and biologist heavily influenced by works of Charles Darwin. Haeckel published Kunst-Formen der Natur (Art Forms in Nature) in 1898 (Ernst Haeckel - Biography, Facts and Pictures, 2020). This book features all sorts of illustrations of the natural world, organic shapes, plants, animals and microscopic organisms. These marvellous illustrations are highly detailed, other worldly, oddly shaped but there is a noticeable sequence to some of them. Truly these are fantastical in nature as I have never seen anything like it and provides me with ideas to create an exciting impossible structure.

In search of a botanist mentor
I’m very passionate about plants and studying them, but I’m still a sophomore. I’m not sure what I need to do to be the best botanist I can be. I know the classes I need to take, but not sure what social connections I should start making or even where my future passions will thrive best. Any advice will be amazing.
