Reblog if you got your bowel resection at Claires
It feels so good to be back home after surgery! ❤️🩹
I had a bowel resection and end ileostomy last week after dealing with an obstruction earlier this year. I started on biologics back in 2021, but unfortunately Humira wasn't enough to keep my Crohn's in remission because I started producing antibodies against it. Since my insurance took their sweet time approving Entyvio, I ended up with a bowel obstruction in March which almost resulted in an emergency surgery.
Thankfully, I was able to recover at home after narrowly avoiding emergency surgery. I was on TPN and a full liquid diet for a month and a half until my body was ready for surgery. I was told that I had to have a temporary ileostomy, but to me that was a small price to pay if it meant I could achieve remission for the first time in years.
Surgery went well, and although my in-patient stay was bumpy at times due to some nausea and vomiting, I'm feeling a lot better than I felt before surgery. My pain is controlled pretty well right now, and I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon and my regular gastroenterologist in a few weeks. I should be having my ileostomy reversal surgery by the end of summer!
I'm hoping that by the end of this ordeal I'll be able to have a good few years of remission from Crohn's Disease. This disease sucks so much and has taken so much out of me. But no matter what life throws at me, I'm not going to give up without a fight. 💪✨
I had my bowel resection surgery yesterday evening! My surgeon was very happy with the results and told me that everything went super well. After the epidural I had wore off I was in some serious pain, but thankfully the nurses here gave me something stronger after Tylenol did nothing.
I was able to do a few laps around my hospital floor, and while I still feel pain right now it's pretty manageable, especially considering how much pain I was in before I was admitted. This doesn't come close to what I felt with my bowel obstruction back in March, and I just know remission is right around the corner! 💪✨️
Do any of my fellow crohnies (or anyone who’s had abdominal surgery) have any tips for helping reduce the messed up muscle?
My latest endo bullshit
Guess who gets to go to Seattle to meet with a specialist for endometriosis tissue on the bowel?
Guess who is likely going to have a bowel resection?
Guess who hasn’t paid off her LAST endo surgery?
I am very tired with no further information at the moment, and I would really prefer to just not. Instead, I am waiting for a call from the referral specialist and wondering exactly how much this is going to cost.
Only a few days to go until my bowel resection surgery, and I'm feeling pretty nervous. I'm not sure how complicated life will be after my ileostomy and what the learning curve will be like.
My doctor gave me an estimate of around two months before I could get my reversal surgery, so at the very least, I can take solace in the fact that my stoma won't be permanent. The things I am most looking forward to are not being in horrible pain anymore and being able to eat solid foods again!
My doctor gave me the okay to stop my Total Parenteral Nutrition infusions for now, but I'll still have my PICC Line until I check into the hospital next week. We're flushing the line with saline and heparin every day so I don't end up with a blood clot right before surgery.
I have my "delicious" bowel prep to do on Monday, and then on Tuesday morning, we'll be getting ready to drive over to the hospital. I will most likely be spending 5 to 7 days recovering in the hospital before I'm discharged.
This is my first surgery for Crohn's Disease, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. I'll be sure to update you all again once I'm out of the hospital!
I wanted to share my new morning routine with you all since getting my PICC Line inserted. I was admitted to the hospital for a bowel obstruction a few weeks ago and am awaiting my scheduled bowel resection surgery. Just another day in the life of a gal with Crohn's Disease.
This is going to be my first bowel surgery, so I'm a bit nervous. I wanted to make a vlog like this with the hope that it reaches someone else in a similar position as me because I wanted to let them know that they're not alone. We are IBD warriors. 💪❤️
Please for the love of fuck make my long awaited bowel surgery soon 💀
I talk to my surgeon (after the pre-op sigmoidoscopy we did to check the surgery site) on the 25th and I wish it was even sooner, I've long since run out of patience and my anxiety is going haywire. It's only been since mid Nov when I saw my surgeon last and started waiting for the scope I got at the end of Feb, but I was diagnosed with colon cancer at the end of August so the whole ordeal has dragged on so long I'm just desperate for it to be over atp. Please grant me surgery soon surgery gods I'm begging you
