Today, these custom pencil boxes were finally given to their intended recipients. When I was approached by a team leader who wanted to give appreciation gifts to his team that weren't just more corporate branded items, I was honored. We worked together to choose papers that reflected what he knew of his team, and I suggested we customize them further with their names. Cut through the lid because I didn’t measure. Finished the idea anyway because it’s a skill builder. Acrylic box with hand chased threaded lid. US penny for scale. It will be floating in a black walnut frame and it will be backed with another spalted maple panel to build up thickness. I like to call the floating panels in the body "soap dish" shaped. I think the added dimension to the panel really shows a viewer that the spalting goes all the way through the panel and is not just on the surface. The last picture shows the hidden compartment in the Box.
