Hi, just here to say that sometimes when you’re trying to improve your life, it will mean that your life will increasingly start to deviate from the “norm.”
If you are neurodivergent, chronically ill, disabled or something similar, improving your life and taking care of yourself often comes with mourning the loss of being able to adhere to established cultural norms.
I have been doing a lot of work with self acceptance to even be able to get to the point to realize what my needs actually are.
If you are struggling to meet established norms, try to be kind to yourself.
Many of these norms are actively harmful, even for the people who are able to adhere to them regularly.
Often it feels like I am met with confusion, frustration, intolerance, anger, and disbelief when I express that I no longer and the desire or ability to try to adhere to established norms.
A lot of people get angry because they try so hard to fit into established norms and they think that everyone should have to suffer and try to meet these ideals as well.
It is actively harmful for everyone.
I think that more people are becoming aware of how harmful capitalism is for most people, but we do not yet have enough alternative solutions in place for people to feel comfortable abandoning capitalist ideals.
I think more people are developing illnesses related to stress because our world is becoming increasingly unsafe and hostile.
Denying this reality in order to continue trying to fit into the standard capitalist heteronormative neurotypical ableist ideals is not serving anyone.
We need a kinder, more compassionate world.
Not more violence and anger.
