seven minute primer before the game starts

shane wright & brennan othmann become best friends playing for the Don Mills Flyers as young teens

they share a birthday (Jan 5th, one year apart) and both post joint instagram photos about it every year

both were originally centers. brennan becomes a winger to play on shane's line with him

he says this about it:

“I played center as a kid but when Shane (Wright) joined the team, I was moved to the wing but I didn’t mind,” Othmann recalls. “Playing with him was great.” [x]

brennan gets drafted in 2021, on Zoom. shane is with him during the draft

shane gets drafted in 2022. brennan attends the draft to be there for him as well.

this is an incredibly important game for brennan - he was called up after that 10-2 bruins vs. rangers game, and it's been made clear that this is his chance to "earn his way onto the roster".

tonight is shane wright & brennan othmann's first ever nhl game against each other :)
