It's July 18th, so it's Brown Goth Appreciation Day!
(as per the founder, specifically South Asian and MENA, but yeah)
If I had done that "Spanish-speaking goth bands from the US" video a few months later, I would have also included Fin del Mundo (from San Francisco, California) and She Lost Control (from Yuma, Arizona).
Reblog if you think alternative communities need to be actively inclusive of POC
Because I SWEAR, I am so sick of every nerdy or alternative space being so uniformly, strictly, aggressively WHITE. I mean, goddamn, I am not asking for that much! I want to go to Renaissance Faires without being surrounded by racist redneck dudes! I want to go to Hot Topic and not get weird looks from the cashier! The whole point of alternative spaces is that they’re a safe haven for the freaks and misfits of the world- so why do I feel so out of place in these so-called celebrations of the wonderfully weird and different?
WHY IS IT SO MUCH TO ASK THAT ALTERNATIVE SPACES BE POC INCLUSIVE??!
Willow Scarlet, an Indian goth band whose stuff I’ve shared here before, wants to have as many MENA and South Asian goths as possible to submit videos to be included in a music video. The information such as where to send it and what the video should involved was included in an Instagram post, linked below. The submission deadline is July 12, 2023.
