The 49ers have waived WR Bruce Ellington.
After impressing the 49ers throughout training camp in 2016, Ellington suffered a hamstring tear and missed the entire season.
On Thursday, San Francisco waived the receiver just one week into this year's camp.
Ellington dropped down the depth chart with Marquise Goodwin, Pierre Garcon and Jeremy Kerley all joining the fold in the 49ers' receiving corps this year.
On top of that, Ellington missed a handful of games in 2014 and 2015 with nagging lower body injuries. The former fourth-round pick caught just 19 passes over those two seasons. If a team is to take a chance on him, he'll have to prove he can stay healthy and productive.
