I suppose Beethoven would have been a better match for the Twelfth Doctor, but a little Mozart never goes amiss, right? The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra is playing the Amadeus soundtrack live in September and came to promote their concert at this Spring's FACTS convention. I was delighted that they thought of doing so - I'm a fervent operagoer and so far, I have found few occasions where classical music and geek culture touch... So this was great. All photos are on the Brussels Philharmonic Facebook page - worth a visit if you want to see Chewbacca, Morticia and Gomez Adams or, say, a two-headed dinosaur have a go at this harpsichord ;-)...

I cosplayed Twelve in my hand-knitted "holey jumper", which of course you cannot see in this picture :P.

【Final Fantasy XV】 Yasunori Mitsuda Talks Episode Ignis Music

Yasunori Mitsuda, the guest composer of Episode Ignis, is joined by Episode Ignis Director Takefumi Tarada and discusses the music and character behind Episode Ignis. In the background, Brussels Philharmonic plays pieces from the upcoming DLC.

Mitsuda states that he chose a single instrument—the violin—to represent "The quiet feelings [Ignis Scientia] hides away in the bottom of his heart" and "how he carries himself when he's fighting."

Tarada also states John Williams was the second choice after Mitsuda as the guest composer.

Been listening to “A Symphonic Journey from Philly to Utopia”, the brand new album of the Belgian film composer Dirk Brossé, a good friend of John Williams.

(He conducted the orchestra during the world tour of “Star Wars in Concert” and he replaced Williams when he fell ill in London just before a concert in the Royal Albert Hall.)

This CD contains première recordings of commissioned music Brossé wrote the last ten years.

The album title is a bit complex when you don’t know him well: Brossé became the conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (@chamber.orchestra.phila) in 2010, “Back to Utopia” is a documentary on the humanist Thomas More’s book “Utopia” he has scored.
