Netflix and WWE's superficial four-part docuseries largely glosses over the most shameful elements of Terry Bollea's sordid life outside of professional wrestling while still acknowledging his many basic flaws. Largely a compilation of his greatest hits and impact on the pseudo-sport, the documentary makes it crystal clear that "Hulk Hogan" was not a real person but an illusion and someone who avoided actual issues despite the immense pain he caused. In both life and death, Hogan's fatal flaw was his inability to be himself, whoever that was, stop "selling" his character, and forget the myth of the man he created, who ultimately never existed in reality despite his best efforts. His documentary exemplifies all of these contradictory elements to its detriment.
