modern mythology // sirens
not every girl drowns in the ocean. they come crawling out of bathtubs, slipping and sliding through shower drains and falling from kitchen sinks. they were drowning in despair, in hollow promises, in big city dreams that never came true. they were smothered by the ambitions of others and choked by the weight of expectations. they slip in from the sewers and their eyes sing a song of despair and laughter; come closer, closer, boy, and take a swim.
