Podcast interview with co-creator of Black Sails

About two weeks ago Fathoms Deep did a podcast interview with one of the co-creators of Black Sails. It’s like a hour and a half, but it’s a REALLY good and very in depth interview about all the BS seasons, including season 4 (there are no s4 spoilers ofcourse). It’s so great to hear from the mastermind, Jonathan E. Steinberg, himself about the often complex narrative and character choices he’s made for the show and why these choices were made or had to be made. I would highly recommend to listen to the entire interview, but for folks who wanna hear about Madi, you can skip to like the last 24 minutes of the podcast (they start talking about her character around 58:25). I love your idea of a max defense squad! you said to ask for any other unappreciated ladies, so I gotta throw out madi and the maroons queen. the few edits I've seen of madi are either in relation to mr. scott or silver, which are great relationships, but she deserves some individual love (and not to be erased just so people can focus on all the white guys?? cause that's gross). likewise, I don't think I've seen any maroons queen edits, which is ridiculous, that woman is amazing

uhm, i don’t know if a defense squad tag would be very helpful in this regard, since people would still need to be willing to edit. plus i personally reserve defense tags for characters who are being unfairly hated, which i don’t think is happening with these particular ladies yet. (feel free to correct me if i’m wrong though! i may just not be aware of it. i wouldn’t be surprised tbh.)

i could however, and this might be a better way to bring attention to them, organize an appreciation week for madi and the maroon queen? or maybe for the maroons in general?

and yes, you’re right, both madi and the maroon queen are absolutely amazing and they deserve a lot more appreciation and love than they’ve been getting.
