You scrolled through your phone, tears stinging your eyes. Your brain was screaming at you to stop but for some reason you ignored it.
âI donât think she needs that cake, she looks like sheâs had enoughâ
âIs he blind? Hobi you could do so much better!â
âAs if that pig has stolen our Jhope, back off!!â
~
You were already extremely self-conscious and you were very hesitant when your boyfriend, the one and only Jhope from BTS, wanted to post an âofficialâ picture on the groupâs twitter. The members already knew, Suga even had suspicions before you two were together, but it took a lot of begging from Hobi to finally break the news to the public. He wanted to be able to hold your hand in public, to not have to sneak around to see you, to take you on fancy dates outside of his dorms.
You wanted all of this too, but something was stopping you. That something being a strong fear of being judged, especially by the other fans. You always felt like you were not as pretty or as skinny as other girls, and you are not originally from Korea so your accent and pronunciation was funny. To make things worse, Jhope had been coming back much later from practise, making you think he didnât want to spend time with you anymore.
Unfortunately, that fear became a reality. For some reason, you felt mad at Jhope for posting the photo, but you also felt responsible for ruining his reputation. The worst part was that you were in the dorms waiting for Jhope and the boys to come back from practise, which would be any minute now.
You stumbled over to the kitchen to grab some water, when suddenly, you felt a pair arms snake around your waste. You turned to face him with puffy eyes and a red nose, it was clear to him that you had been crying.
He held you in a tight embrace and placed your head in the crook of his neck.
âShh, (Y/N), donât cry. Tell me everythingâ
Tears started to form in his eyes, which made you feel guilty for causing all of this.
âItâs all my fault! Leave me alone!â
You ran away from him and into the bathroom, locking yourself in.
You wanted to tell him so bad, you always told Hobi everything that bothered you But, you know that he really wanted to be public and you didnât want to ruin his happiness.
âI know itâs about the tweet, (Y/N). Please come out. Iâm sorry for posting it. I was going to delete it before you saw the comments, but seeing you look so happy in that picture I got caught up in my emotions and I couldnât help myself. I want to be able to show everyone that you are mine because quite frankly I have no idea how that happened. Iâve always been known as âthe ugly oneâ of the group. Iâm surprised that you donât like the other members more than me. Iâm not funny like Jin, Iâm not as sweet as Jimin, Iâm not as smart as Namjoon, IâmâŚâ
Before he could continue, you burst through the door and wrapped yourself tightly around Jhope. You never knew that he felt this way, and it made you feel nice to know that someone else understood how you felt.
âHobi, you know that I love you for you. Who always makes me smile when Iâve had a really bad day? Who always comes home from practise with those chocolates I love, and always tells me I look perfect when I try to refuse due to a diet?â
He looked up into your eyes and couldnât stop smiling.
âAnd, who stayed up all night to help me with my exams, even in the middle of preparing for a comeback?â
He started to tear up again listening to your kind words. He ran his hands through your hair and stops at the back of your neck, gently pulling you into a soft kiss.
âOoh! I almost forgot!â
He ran into the hallway and grabs a parcel with green wrapping paper (of course it was green). You open it to reveal an expensive black dress that you have been wanting for ages. Jhope had his eye on it ever since you tried it on in front of him, but he couldnât buy it for you because he lost his wallet.
âIâve been working at the coffee shop down the road to pay the rent until my wallet is found, but I had to buy it. I saw how this dress made you feel good and I want you to be reminded of that feeling during times like this. How you felt in that dress is how I feel every time I look at you. I love you so much, (Y/N)â
âI love you too, Hobi.â
Thank you so much for reading, I actually really enjoyed writing this one!! If you enjoyed it, please feel free to drop a cheeky request to help me out.
Iâm back with the next part! I was surprised with how many notes it got in such a short amount of time, so Iâm excited to post this!
Iâm going to try and post one part a day, and hopefully Iâll be finished with the story as I post it!

âWhat the h***, Jungkook?â Namjoon had rushed to find him after Chaerin practically ran away from him, âYou somehow score a date with that woman and then just leave her alone the whole night??? Youâll be lucky if you ever see her again!â
Jungkook looked over to Namjoon with a slightly confused look, âMwoh??? Youâve seen Chaerin??â
âYes, and sheâs been all alone all night. I haven't seen you with her once.â Namjoon gave him an unamused look, âshe ran away from me and went to the bathroom when I was talking to her about you.â
âS***...â Jungkook said under his breath as he moved away from Namjoon. He couldn't help but be a little annoyed that she told Namjoon who she was, but it wasn't really her fault⌠he didn't exactly give the best directions in the world. He should had prepared her a lot more than he had.
He made his way to the bathroom area and stood there for a few minutes. He was waiting for her to come out, and he eventually started thinking she was never going to. He was about to give up and walk away when she finally opened the door to the bathroom. It didnât take long for her to spot Jungkook as he rushed to her.
âI am so sorryâŚâ he started, but she seemed a little more annoyed at him for an âIâm sorryâ to fix it all.
âNo, itâs totally fine,â she said in a tone that was heavily sarcastic, âI had fun standing and talking to old people. I enjoyed finding only one single girl in this entire place, only to find out sheâs the psycho who put you in this position. I loved not being able to talk to you or really about you, only to be called out by one of your friends. Great night. You explained how to deal with this night very well.â
Jungkook took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair, âI know, Iâm sorry. Iâm just as new to this as you⌠I donât know how to⌠wait.â Jungkook paused his little ramble of apologies as some of her words registered in his brain, âWhoâs the psycho girl?â
Chaerin felt a little annoyed that he was worried about that the most, âI donât know, but she told me she proposed to you and you said no.â
âOh God, of course you talked to herâŚâ he rubbed his face, âOkay, I need you to just stick with me for the rest of the night. This original plan is not going to work with that girl here.â
Chaerin wanted to protest, but she was too tired to argue. She didnât feel like fighting about this right now, so she would just talk have to talk to him about it later. âWho is she?â
âIrene Cho. Sheâs the daughter of my dadâs business partner of Haneul Group.â he explained as he grabbed her hand. Chaerin chose to ignore the fact that this was probably the first time she had held a boyâs hand that she wasnât related to.
âIrene? Thatâs not a Korean name⌠She looks Korean to me.â Chaerin pointed out, but Jungkook just shook his head.
âHer mother grew up in Europe or something and she was named after her.â they were approaching a group of guys, one of them being the guy she saw before. She gave him a nervous smile, to which he sighed and just looked at Jungkook disapprovingly.
âHey guys, I want you to meet my date, Chaerin.â Jungkook announced, getting the attention of all the guys in the group.
âMwoh?!â one of them yelled, sounding seriously surprised, âYou scored someone on your own??? Since when?â
âYeah, when did you meet her?â another one asked, âI remember you were single literally two days ago.â
âYah, I just asked her if she would like to go on a date with me, and the date went well.â Jungkook defended.
âSo you brought her to this really boring company party right after?â one of them raised an eyebrow as Jungkook looked down.
âI brought her because I wanted to tell you guys, but tonight didnât necessarily go as plannedâŚâ he lied, but it sounded convincing.
âIf Iâm just now seeing her, you must have lost her in America or something before now.â
Jungkook ignored that statement as he turned to Chaerin, âChaerin, these are my friends. Youâve already met Namjoon⌠so the others are Hoseok, Yoongi, Jimin, Taehyung, and Seokjin. I donât expect you to remember their names after tonight, though.â
Chaerin watched as he pointed to each of them, knowing she wouldnât remember their names in a few seconds. Jungkook was giving her a little too much credit when he said that she would remember them for longer than that.
âI feel like Iâve seen you somewhere beforeâŚâ Seokjin mumbled, but Chaerin heard it perfectly clear, âWhy would I have seen you before?â
Chaerin looked to Jungkook for a second, but he didnât acknowledge her, âUh, Iâm not sure⌠I donât recognize you.â
It was then that she remembered that first day that she talked to Jungkook. She had seen all of them, but she hadnât remembered what any of them looked like except for Jungkook and one other person. Seokjin was actually a regular as the coffee shop, but she didnât know his name until now. She just knew that he enjoyed coffee with extra sugar and extra cream, and he would always leave a five dollar tip.
She didnât say anything about recognizing him, though. She just stayed silent as he continued thinking about it.
âI think weâre gonna head out,â Jungkook spoke up, âI wasnât planning on being here this late, but Iâm heading out nowâ
Chaerin smiled to all of them as they all said goodbye, and Jungkook led her out of the building and to the car.
âOkay, that night was badâŚâ he started talking before she could, âI didnât ever make this clear, but I wasnât planning on introducing you until a different party. I was hoping that this party was different than it was, so Iâm sorry tonight ended up the way it did.â
Chaerin felt drained, so she found herself not saying anything. Jungkook took this as a negative sign.
âLook, Iâm really sorry, Chaerin. I mean it. I did not do my job right in telling you what was going on⌠Iâll be better about it next time. Iâll even pay you more for tonight.â
Charin sighed and looked out the window of the car as it started to move. âI just⌠Iâm wondering if Iâm crazy enough to stick with this. What if we get found out? Your friends seemed pretty suspicious of meâŚâ
âThey only were because they hadnât seen you all nightâŚâ he mumbled, âI wasnât going to introduce you guys tonight! That was supposed to be for a different party....â
Chaerin just stayed silent. She wasnât up to talking about more parties since she was starting to think about backing out. The bright sides arenât looking so bright in comparison to the dark sides at this point.
Plus, Jungkook doesnât seem to know what heâs doing. His plans seem poor and hardly thought outâŚ
âIf this is going to continue, youâre going to have to explain things better,â she found herself speaking before thinking, âAnd Iâm not going to love on you unless I have to. Youâre going to have to make the first move every time, because I sure wonât be doing it unless I have to.â
Jungkook nodded, âYes, okay. Iâll explain more tomorrow for lunchâŚ?â
Chaerin sighed and leaned away from Jungkook. She wasnât sure that she wanted to see him again so soon, but found her head nodding anyway.
***
The drive home was silent, but it wasnât too awkward. It wasnât that long of a drive, anyway, since the driver was only taking them to the building that Jungkook had instructed her to meet him at. Once they arrived there, Jungkook apologized again and repeated their plans for tomorrow.
âSo tomorrow at 12 Iâll be there,â he nodded and Chaerin just agreed with one small nod. She seemed done with Jungkook, but he was trying to keep her a little longer. âI promise Iâll be better about telling you the plan. I really will.â
âYeah, I got it,â she mumbled in a tired fashion as she moved to her car. She unlocked it and was getting inside when she felt Jungkookâs hand grab her left wrist.
â...Thank you for doing this for me, Chaerin,â he sent an award winning smile her way, âIâm glad youâre not backing out on me. Thank you.â
Chaerin pushed back the blush she felt creeping up from his words and the look he gave her, âYouâre welcome⌠but be careful. Just because I didnât walk out on you today doesnât mean I wonât at some other point.â
Jungkook nodded and his previous smile turned to a nervous one, âI know⌠thank you again.â
Chaerin just waved and moved out of his hold as she slid into the driverâs seat and turned on the ignition.
She started to back out and leave, and Jungkook just stood next to his car to send her off with a wave and a smile. Chaerin looked at him and smiled in return, raising her hand to wave back.
She felt like she had finally gotten away from chaos, only to come home to even more chaos. She walked in to see Kiseung sitting in their shared apartment (Nari and Hyomin didnât seem to be home) with her fiance, Baekhyun.
Not only was it the two of them, but there was also another guy she had never seen before sitting with them. It only took a few seconds for Kiseung to notice that Chaerin was home, and she smiled and rushed over.
âChaerin! Youâre here!!â she said excitedly, only to slowly shift to a look of confusion, â...why are you in such expensive looking clothes?â
Chaerin stood there for a second, only to look down and remember she had forgotten about her outfit. This was certainly nothing like what was in her closet, and it was obviously more expensive than anything she could afford. âUhhh⌠I told you I had plans I couldnât get out of⌠I had to go to this party for⌠my bossâŚâ
Kiseung raised her eyebrows, âWhat? Come on, Chae, donât lie to meâŚâ
âIâm not lying!â she defended, walking passed her, âNow excuse me while I go change⌠these heels are killing me.â
She managed to get away, but literally the second she finished changing, Kiseung burst into her room. âSo! Whoâs ready for movie night?!â
Chaerin blinked a few times before actually opened her mouth, â...What?â
Kiseungâs look of excitement immediately turned to one of annoyance, âI texted you about this hours ago! God, I thought since you didnât object that you would be all for it.â
âIâm sorry, I didnât even look at my phone,â Chaerin shook her head, starting to look through her purse for her phone. She was starting to feel a little panicked when she didnât see it anywhere. â...Oh my God I left it there.â
Kiseung was once again confused, âYour phone? Where? Chanyeol can drive you~.â
âChan-who?â Chaerin looked up at her friend, knowing where this was probably going, âKiseung, is thatâŚâ
âYep!â she smiled, âI thought you were up for movie night, so I invited him for a double date!â
Chaerin groaned, âKiseung! I never agreed to a double date! I donât want to go on this date⌠you should tell this Chan-person to leave. I have to go get my phone from J-...the party. Iâll be back soon.â
âUhm,â Kiseung put her arm in front of Chaerin as she tried to pass through the door, âFor one, youâre still in your pajamas.â
Chaerin looked down and sighed, turning around to find something simple to wear to head over there.
âSecond, Iâm not letting you go alone. Iâm coming with you.â
âAbsolutely not.â Chaerin said as she changed her pants. Kiseung just ignored her.
âIâm getting ready, and if you leave without me then youâll have to stay for movie night,â Kiseung called back as she headed to her room.
âYou canât make me,â Chaerin called after her in annoyance.
âOh, you know I can!â she yelled in reply. She sounded legitimately annoyed, which scared Chaerin a little bit. She loved her friend, but they got in fights like this all the time⌠Kiseung never really got too annoyed at her, but when she was, it could get really scary.
She had just finished getting ready and she could hear Kiseung rushing out of her room as well. She was currently in the living room saying something to Baekhyun, and Chaerin was regretting having to leave and head to Jungkookâs house. What was she going to do then? She had already lied to her friendâŚ
She walked out of the room and into the living room to meet an impatient Kiseung.
âWeâre leaving,â Kiseung smiled, âWeâll be back in a few minutes?â
Chaerin nodded and sighed. Her fate was sealed. It was either go on this double date, or have Kiseung actually go with her to see not only her âboyfriendâ, but how incredibly rich he was.
Maybe she should just go on the double dateâŚ
âUh, let me just go alone,â Chaerin turned to Kiseung, âIâll be back soon to watch the movieâŚâ
Kiseungâs eyes lit up and a smile spread across her face, âGreat! Iâll get everything set up for when you come back!â
Chaerin just smiled nervously and walked out of the apartment as fast as she could. Did she make the right choice? It seemed like the right choiceâŚ
It only took about ten minutes to get to Jungkookâs place as she pulled into the driveway. The driveway had a gate near the end of it, which was closed since it was fairly late. What was she supposed to doâŚ?
She pulled up to the gate and rolled down her window, seeing a half asleep watch guard sitting at the window. His eyes opened a little to see her, to which made him shoot up. He looked at her a little closer, and then down at his desk.
âYour name?â he asked. Chaerin held her breath and hoped she wouldnât get in trouble for this.
âKim Chaerin,â she answered. The guard nodded and then pulled out a sheet of paper.
âI have orders from Mr. Jeon to let you through. Behave yourself.â
The gate then opened and Chaerin gave a little head bow and a thank you to the guard. She was so glad that Jungkook had done that for her, other wise she was afraid she would have been in huge troubleâŚ
The only issue now was figuring out how she was going to get her phone back. Of course, ringing the doorbell was an option, not one that she wanted to go for, but the best one available. She walked up to the door after parking her car toward the front door. It took her a second to find the doorbell, and without thinking on it too much, she pushed the button.
It only took a few seconds for the door to be opened as she smiled nervously to the woman who answered. âIâm here for my phone⌠Jeon Jungkook should have it either with him or in his driverâs carâŚâ
The woman just watched her, âWhatâs your name, hun?â
âKim Chaerin,â she tried to give a friendly smile, but the lack of expression on the womanâs face made it weak.
âCome in,â she responded without anything else to say. Chaerin walked in the door and was absolutely amazed at what greeted her on the inside. There was a spiral staircase in the middle of the open space full of nice modern looking furniture. It was decorated so nicely and pleasing to look at to say the least.
She tried to keep her mouth shut as she took in the sight, hardly believing that she was standing in such a place. If she was crazy over money, she probably would have offered to be Jungkookâs fiance if he didnât find anyone else, but she was more modest than that. She wouldnât throw love away for all the money in the world.
âIâll have to call him to tell you where he is, so Iâll be just a moment,â the woman informed, moving away to a phone that looked like a smartphone, yet sat in a doc like a landline. She hadnât seen anything like it.
âMaster Jungkook,â the woman said into the phone, âThat girl is here to see you.â
Wow, is she really just âthat girlâ? It may have just been the woman not remembering her name, but it still felt a little offensive⌠just a little.
She hung up the phone a few seconds later and turned back around, âHeâs on the second floor in his room. You honestly couldnât miss it as long as you head to the left.â
Chaerin just gave the lady a polite nod and headed up the stairs, just wanting to get her phone back so that she could leave. It didnât take long for her to locate his room, because as the lady said, it was hard to not find. As soon as you got up the stairs, the whole hallway in line of sight was filled with pictures of Jungkook from various photo shoots. She was pretty sure CEOs donât have photo shoots like models⌠so this must just be a thing he wanted to do?
She headed down the hallway and spotted a door with Jungkookâs name printed all over it in a various fonts. Knocking softly on the door, she waited for a response.
The door opened seconds later to reveal the one and only Jeon Jungkook. He smiled at her and waved, âAnnyeong.â
Chaerin sighed and waved back, âCan I please just have my phone back?â
âWow, irritable, are we?â Jungkookâs eyebrows raised, âFollow me.â
Chaerin entered his room and found herself looking around it. It looked so nice despite the mess, and the amount of pictures of him with his friends from kids to adults were surprising. They were everywhere, along with family pictures and more photo shoot pictures.
âYou sure like pictures,â Chaerin spoke out loud as Jungkook stopped and turned around. He looked from her to the tons of frames hanging around his room.
âI like taking them and looking at them,â he shrugged, âEvery picture in here was either taken professionally or with my camera.â
Chaerin walked closer to some of the pictures and smiled at one of them, âThis one is cute⌠Is that your mom?â
He was silent for a while as a sigh escaped his nose, âYeah⌠Thatâs my mom.â
Chaerin looked back at Jungkook after hearing his tone of voice, â...Iâm sorry⌠did sheâŚ?â
Jungkook let out a puff as a frustrated smile spread across his face, âNo. Sheâs alive. Sheâs even in this house still.â
âOhâŚâ Chaerin nodded, but sounded really confused. She figured that she would let go of the topic unless he wanted to continue it. She just needed to get her phone and leave. âUh⌠whereâs my phone?â
Jungkookâs mood suddenly changed as he moved from his current spot to an area in his room that she assumed was his own personal office area. He grabbed a bag from behind the desk and turned around to hand it to Chaerin.
âYou also left your work clothes,â he informed as she laughed nervously, âI asked the staff to wash them for you, so theyâre clean and pressed.â
Chaerin blinked and nodded, saying a small âthank youâ. She was really impressed with him and how nice he was being to her. She wasnât sure if this was just to keep her in the deal or if he was normally this nice⌠either way, she appreciated it.
âI⌠I uh⌠I was wondering if you just wanted to talk about tonight right now?â Jungkook offered as Chaerin felt dread wash over her. The dread wasnât even from what he said, but it was from what she promised Kiseung before she leftâŚ
âI⌠I canât.â She sighed, âI promised my friend I would go on a double date with her fianceâs friend as long as she didnât force herself to come with me to get my phoneâŚâ
Jungkookâs eyebrows raised, âReally?? Why didnât you just bring her along?â
âBecause,â she slightly whined, âI told her I was at a party for my boss⌠she didnât really believe me, so she wanted to confirm it by going with me to get my phoneâŚâ
Jungkook nodded and sat down on the edge of his bed, âI see⌠well⌠I guess this is goodnight.â
Chaerin felt herself dreading having to leave this beautiful house. She didnât want to go on that double date at all⌠She would much rather talk with Jungkook about literally anything else.
That was when a plan sprung from her mind. She smiled and looked to Jungkook, âI need to use your phone, pleaseâŚâ
âWhat forâŚ?â he asked, slowly getting out his phone. He seemed to already be okay with the idea, but he at least wanted to hear it first.
âIâm gonna text her number from your phone and tell her youâre friends with my boss and let me borrow your phone⌠Iâm gonna tell her that we couldnât find my phone, but you were going to help me out and that I would be out longer than usual.â she explained as Jungkook snickered. She looked so proud of her plan, so he just handed her his phone.
It was silent for a few seconds as she sent the text, and after it was sent, she handed Jungkook his phone back. In a matter of seconds, she was sitting next to him in the edge of his bed.
Jungkook laughed a little at her as she felt her face heat up.
âWhat?â she asked, not appreciating his laughs.
âYou just look like a little girl with that expression while in that position,â he smiled at her as she got up and turned away from him. She found a seat on the couch that was sitting in front of his TV with her back facing him. âAlright, you should start some explainingâŚâ
Jungkook couldnât help but smile at how childish she was being as he got up off his bed. He moved to sit next to her and she turned to face her body to him. Her previous attitude was replaced with a serious one as Jungkook laid his head on the back of the couch.
âFirst off, you need to stay away from Irene at all costs. Sheâs bad news and will ruin everything for you and me if she finds evidence that weâre not a real coupleâŚâ Jungkook started off as Chaerin just sat back and listened. âAs for the guys, as long as youâre friendly to them and you act like you like me, we should be fine. The only one that will look into it more than we would like would be Namjoon, and he wonât tell the other guys before saying something to me first.â
âAs for how parties will go⌠during dinner parties, youâll always be with me. There wonât be any searching for girls at those⌠At meet and greets, youâll need to be with me most of the time to not look suspicious, but occasionally break off and find someone to talk toâŚâ
Chaerin just nodded at everything he had said so far. She was still expecting more, so she was waiting till she thought he was done to start talking again.
âMy dad hardly ever sees me, so as long as you meet him once and treat him respectfully, you wonât have to worry about him. The staff here have been informed of you as youâve found out, so if you ever need to get here and canât get a hold of me, just do what you did tonight.â
âI might need you to come to a few more events other than parties, but I donât go to those as often⌠at least not this time of year. You might only need to go to a few more business parties with me and then youâll be done. Of course, there will be days that Iâm off that I might ask you to help find me someone somewhere⌠but unless weâre not having any luck, that wonât happen much⌠That should be it I think.â
âI think so, tooâŚâ Chaerin nodded, looking at Jungkook. He looked over at her and sent a smile, to which she returned.
âReally, I donât know if I can thank you enough for agreeing to something so crazy⌠â he said as he laid his head back down on the back of his couch.
âDonât keep reminding me that itâs crazy or I might end up backing out,â Chaerin joked, laying her head back on the couch as well. They sat there in a comfortable silence for a few seconds up until Jungkook sat up in his seat. Chaerin looked up and watched him as he got up and moved back to sit on his bed.
âIâm feeling kinda tired, so Iâm gonna head to bed,â he yawned, causing Chaerin to giggle and nod. She got up and headed to the door, glancing at his huge gorgeous room for the last time that night.
âYour room is really nice by the wayâŚâ she softly complemented, causing Jungkook to look around his room.
âYou think so?â he asked, âI actually decorated most of it myself. Iâm the one who put up all the pictures.â
âWell it really speaks about who you areâŚâ she paused while looked around at all of his belongings. âGod, itâs weird to think that I literally just agreed to this crazy thing todayâŚâ
âI knowâŚâ Jungkook laughed, shaking his head, âBut thanks. Itâs nice to get a compliment on my pictures.â
âYouâre welcome,â she responded, âBut Iâm gonna let you sleep. Goodnight Jungkook.â
âDonât you mean Jungkookie?â he kidded as Chaerin sent him a slight glare.
âI havenât told my friends we were âdatingâ yet, so that nickname isnât valid yet. Goodnight Jungkook~.â With that, she closed his bedroom door and headed down the hallway. She looked at her phone and saw a million missed calls from Kiseung. She probably didnât believe that she didnât have her phone, so she was trying to catch her lyingâŚ
She decided to text Kiseung that she finally found her phone and was finally heading home. She wasnât looking forward to the wrath of Kiseung, but she enjoyed the short conversation she had with Jungkook. The two of them seemed to be fast friends, so maybe thatâll make it easier to pretend to love him like a partnerâŚ
Just to clarify, Irene in this story isnât meant to be Irene from Red Velvet. Itâs up to you on whether you picture Irene as her or not~
Thank you for reading!
