Me: opens my commentary on Seokjin’s Note by calling it the last one.
BH, not even 24h later: lol jokes on you.
From anon: No notes for Fly to my Room?! 😢 I'm sad. But if VMIN or Sope makes a joint note about it, I'd forgive Bighit. Oh well, there's nothing wrong with dreaming.
Would you look at that, anon, in the end we didn’t have to dream since we did end up getting BTS’ Notes for Fly To My Room. It’s the only track that had Notes from the whole group, despite it being a subunit song, and it’s also the only one that contains none of the members voice in any way, just the melody of the song and the video. The fact that it’s called BTS Notes makes me wonder though if that might mean that some of the clips the video is made out of might be something the members recorded while traveling the world on tour, or if that’s just stock footage, or both.
The metaphor for the video is rather clear, giving us a view of the world we currently cannot go and see, can’t explore anymore beyond watching videos or documentaries, since we’re all limited to our ‘room’, meant to stay indoors, away from each other as much as possible, the sky and passing by planes (if there even are any) only something to be seen from a window. We can dream of palms and the beach, of the warmth and freedom we took for granted before the pandemic came and changed everything. And while there is a lot of blue, a usually cold color, it doesn’t necessarily feel that way for most of the video besides perhaps the shot of the skyscraper and wet street.
It’s pretty yet, despite all the different cuts and fun editing, when looking at the whole thing, it’s rather simple. Since we don’t get any singing, there’s nothing to be commented on that, either. It’s an interesting choice and I wonder if we’ll potentially get something similar for Dynamite as well, or if this will be it, this time really.
