hi ida idk if you’ve already done this but would you like to talk a little about your creative process? :3
mila hi!! ohh i have but it's been a while and of course i would love to talk about it!! <3
i love to browse either resource sites such as pixelbuddha or even adobe's free stock gallery or plain google and just. look at different textures? for example i can look up "leather journal" and just browse a bunch of different images. or "letter" and just look at different lined papers and stuff because i think that's fun and inspiring even if it's completely blank. because it often ignites some idea; this particular look of lined paper could be used for a letter left on the library table, for example 👀
THEN i try to craft the "background" of whatever scene i'm setting. most of the time it's a table but i do try to get creative. the reason i have ended up making the exact kind of edits i make is because... it REALLY gets me going. u know? i fucking LOVE a top view of a table that could have been found in the actual universe of supernatural. i think i've said this but yeah the images are always a BIT composed and not entirely natural but that's because i have a background in journal inspo instagram (sorry). and i like to line everything just right. i search for all kinds of things that could believably appear in the setting i've chosen and then i simply cut them out and give them a place.
sometimes step 2 includes making manips for photos or books bc i like the cover but not the text inside etc. i often have the idea of including news paper articles and then i have to make a manip of that and write the article. (but it's fun) also research to make sure everything is factually correct because people love to point out mistakes 🙃 "gas doesn't cost that much" "receipts don't look like that in america" "that edition of that cassette wasn't released in that year" etc. whenever i try to take shortcuts (and it's not often) i get punished for it so i don't do that anymore. i research EVERYTHING.
the thing that always makes it feel like it's coming together is the handwritten part and i write all my handwritten stuff in procreate. and add doodles. it's a little bit of sending pngs back and forth between laptop and tablet but it's worth it!! so i kinda taught myself dean's handwriting mostly because it's easier and looks better than to use fonts (i'm normal)
IF the edit has moving elements (i.e. if it's a really elaborate gif) this is where i animate the moving parts by creating frames in photoshop
then i add my coloring layers (which means get rid of the colors....) desaturate it and add curves and selective color (obsessed with making the black more black!!) until it looks nice
if the image is large (it usually is) i crop it to make it easier for people to view!
tadaaa upload!

ty for the ask!! <3
