BTS Jungkook- My Knight
"This is Jungkook, from this day forward he is going to be your personal knight," the royal guard explained, the young boy standing upright beside him couldn't have been a year older than I was. I hid behind my mother, my cheeks flushed "why do I need a knight?" I whispered and my mother grabbed my arm and pulled me out from behind her to stand beside her. "A lot of people might try to use you as leverage against your father," she said before tapping my shoulder, reminding me to stand up straight. "With him around no one will be able to touch you," she added before looking at the royal guard "but are you sure he is up to the task?" she questioned looking quizzically over the young boy.
"He's the brightest student we have. I believe we could polish him into a wonderful guard," the royal guard said, "Besides, the princess would probably feel more at ease with someone closer to her age," he added. My mother stepped forward looking over the young boy "What's your name?" she asked and he bowed his head "Jeon Jungkook, Ma'am," he replied obediently. She walked around him "alright," she said before looking towards me "Introduce yourself to your new guard," she told me. I picked up the sides of my dress, crossing one foot across the other before bowing my legs "Princess Y/n," I said trying to sound as regal as I could. From that day forward every turn I take, every trail I track, every path I make, every road I took he was following right beside me. In a sense we grew up together, both of us learning to play our roles. I knew everyone in this village, and they seemed to happy here, everything by design. I knew everyone in this town had a role, so I had to live up to mine. My parents unfortunately couldn't have anymore kids after me, which meant I was destined to be the ruler. I needed to lead with pride, make us strong, I'll be satisficed if I played along.
"Why do I have to sleep in the tower?" I asked my mother nearing tears as she showed me the room where I would be sleeping in now, "People love a mysterious princess, the less common your appearance in the castle, the more interest," she explained as a few maids carried in my things. At ten years old, I wasn't too keen on sleeping so far away from my parents, "What if I get scared?" I questioned and she looked down at me "The people need a princess who is brave," she replied, it almost looked as if she was daring me to speak out again. I nodded before walking over to my new bed under the tulle canopy. I sat down watching my mother direct the maids on how to set up my room. Once it was finished she had them follow her to other rooms in the tower that needed sprucing up.
My room felt a lot more colder now that I was all alone in here. I tried my best to be brave as I went into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I climbed back into my bed, pulling my legs to my chest, I couldn't stop the tears that rolled down my cheeks. I buried my face in my knees, trying to muffle the sound, because I could not stand it if my mother heard and came back. I heard the handle turn and I quickly wiped away my tears as the door pushed open, only it was Jungkook standing at the door. "May I come in?" he questioned and I nodded my head "Yes," I answered trying to keep my voice steady. He checked down the hallways before entering my room, pulling the door shut behind him.
"Are you okay?" he asked, which is really the worst thing to ask someone, especially if they were indeed not okay. Tears flooded down my cheeks "No, not at all!" I cried bring my hands up to my eyes, desperate to rub them away. He walked toward the bed "Don't come closer- I look- I look a mess," I said, but he ignored my request, sitting on the edge of the bed. "I don't matter. You can be or feel whatever you want around me," he said and for the first time, someone was telling me I didn't have to fake it. "Aren't we a little too young?" I questioned knowing he was in a similar position to mine "Perhaps, but there's not much we can do about it now." I nodded in agreement "It just feels so lonely," I mumbled, "but we're together," he replied and in the moonlight I could see his red cheeks.
"Will you stay with me?" I questioned as I got under the covers and his eyes widened "L-like sleep? In bed with you?" he questioned pointing towards his chest and I nodded my head. We were ten years old, most ten year old's have sleepover and I wanted to be like other girls. "No," he said quickly getting up, "Please," I reached out grabbing his arm before he could get too far. He looked at me for a moment before sighing "Well... I can't sleep because I'm on guard duty... But I suppose I can sit with you," he said sitting back down on the side of the bed, "only until you fall asleep," he added. I nodded my head before laying down, resting my head on my pillow, pulling the covers over my shoulder "Thank you," I whispered.
"Give me your hand," I said and he brought both hands to his chest instinctively as if I threatened to cut them off "Just let me hold your hand," I whined like a little girl and he relented his hand falling down limp next to mine. I wrapped my fingers around his, holding onto his hand and I let my eyes flutter shut, a sense of comfort causing a sigh of relief to escape my lips. I wondered what I looked like in his eyes. Was I the princess of the village in which he lived? Or was I just a ordinary girl with a pink nose, and skin around her eyes red and blotchy? Was I a regular girl who was upset over something? Or was I the most beautiful, lovely girl he had ever met?
As we aged, Jungkook became the only person who I shared my real thoughts and emotions with, mostly because he never told me to think or feel a different way than I was. "I'm old enough to go into town on my own!" I complained to my mother, "I would hardly say thirteen is old enough," my mother replied while having her hair brushed. "My love, she will have Jungkook with her, he's fifteen now and responsible enough for the two of them," my father said pressing a kiss to her cheek to try and soften her up and she sighed "Alright, alright, I'll give you the afternoon in the market," she said and I squealed with excitement before rushing towards the dress room to get dressed. "Thank you for trusting me, my lady," I could hear Jungkook reply before following me, I had the handmaids help me into a light dress.
I grabbed Jungkook's hand as I rushed towards the front gate, "Princess," Jungkook said pulling his hand from mine causing us to walk slower "Things are different outside the castle, we have an image to uphold," he reminded me and I sighed annoyed that he was sounding like my parents. "Don't be a party pooper," I replied before heading outside to take the path towards the village. I did my best to keep my chin up and walk like I had seen my mother do all my life. I tried to ignore all the stares and whispers, focusing on looking around at all the neat things. We walked passed a jeweler and I gasped when I saw a pearl that was hung on a dainty necklace. "The princess has a good eye, I see," the merchant said with a smirk "My son is a fisherman, got that pearl straight from the ocean, I cleaned her up and such," he said proudly.
"Would you like to try it on?" he questioned and I couldn't help but nod my head. I spun around as he placed the chain around my neck before clipping it at the back of my neck. I looked into the mirror to see how it hung around my neck, it was gorgeous, and it made me look even more elegant than I was "What do you think Princess?" he questioned and the unsettling feeling rising from the pit of my stomach "I'm afraid I didn't bring any money with me," I said waiting for him to rip the jewelry off. "How much?" Jungkook asked, reminding him of his presence, "Ten gold coin seem fair?" the man asked and Jungkook looked towards me "No discount on account of the princess? Free advertising if people ask where she got it," Jungkook bartered.
"Seven is as low as I can go," the man replied and Jungkook nodded before pulling out the money, dropping them in his hand "Thank you," Jungkook said before ushering me to walk on. "Let me repay you once we are back," I told him and he raised an eyebrow "And what money do you have?" He teased causing me to blush "Think of it as an early birthday present," he added. We spent the rest of the day looking around the market before heading home for the night. "I wish we could do fun things like this all the time," I admitted as we walked to the front door "I suppose it's the burden we bare," he said before reaching towards my neck. His fingers delicately hid the necklace underneath my dress "Promise me at least we have fun on our birthdays," I replied holding up my pinky and he chuckled at my childish antics "To the best of my ability," he promised.
After my fifteenth birthday party Jungkook and I were going to sneak out. By that we meant we were going to climb to the top of the tower to see the stars. I was so antsy to get back to my room so that my real birthday can begin. "Princess," my mother called stopping me, I turned around to look at her, a man standing next to her "This is going to be your teacher," she said introducing me to him. I introduced myself to him as well as Jungkook. "He will teach you everything you need to know to be a princess," she added before looking towards Jungkook "And we will be sending you out to training too," she informed him and he nodded along.
"W-we won't be together anymore?" I questioned clenching my hand into a fist at my side to keep me from reaching out to Jungkook. "You won't need much protection, I doubt you will really leave the tower," she informed me "And when your training is complete, Jungkook will be more experienced," she added. Everything felt like it was all happening so fast. I wish all this growing up could wait. "Starting tomorrow, everything will change," she said before looking towards the man "Let me show you around," she said walking off with him in tow, "It was lovely to meet you princess," he said as they left. I felt frozen in place. "Shall we go?" Jungkook asked and I shook my head "I think I need to lay down," I told him. That was the code phrase for I was going to cry. We headed back to my room and I paced around my room wringing my hands together "She's sending you to the front lines. I know it," I whispered pacing around.
"Princess-" "And She's not going to let me leave the tower?" I spoke my anxieties out loud, not being able to think straight. They planned to surprise me like this so I had no room to argue or wiggle my way out of this. I felt tears well in my eyes. I hated when I felt so helpless. "Princess," Jungkook used his authorities voice, and when I looked towards him he was laying on my bed. "Come here," he said more gently holding his arms open, I hesitantly walked over and laid on the bed next to him. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me to partially lay on him, my burning face pressed against his firm chest. My soft curves were met by his sturdy figure, and as soon as his fingers traced through my hair, I relaxed on top of him.
I couldn't help but cling onto his shirt, tears staining his shirt, "I don't want anything to happen to you," I whispered. "It feels like I'm ruining everything," I added, "My princess. You're not ruining anything," he said hugging me closer so he could rest his head on top of mine "It's not your job to dictate my life in a way to keep me safe. That's not your burden to bear," he said running his fingers through my hair "I just feel like if it weren't for me you wouldn't go there," I admitted "If I wasn't your guard for the passed few years I would've been on the front lines a long time ago and have to stay a lot longer," he replied. "I am lucky I get to take care of you and be here for you. You're not here to make me happy. You haven't done anything wrong."
By the time I turned 15 it was time to start my royal training. This meant I was no longer going to be able to leave the castle. It saddened me but my mother promised me I would be far to busy to even think about leaving the castle. That's when they decided to send Jungkook to boot camp, to give him some 'real experience' as they say. It was lonely to be stuck in the castle, especially without my little shadow behind me. But it was exhausting, royal training. To be a princess is to know what spoon to use and leave the parsley on the plate. Always maintain a regal gait, be charming yet detached yet amused and never seem confused. Don't stray from protocol. Do a plie and never fall. Always behave-keep grip never crack. Stiff upper lip and arch the back, stomach in, lift the chin, bend from above and slowly turn your head side to side and glide. Courtesy at every count and lord. Shoulders back and wave. Breathing gently, stepping lightly, smile brightly, nod politely, Never show a thing you fee inside. Always look your best, speak and be clever, never at a loss for words. Learn to play the harpsicord, sing lullabies and always harmonize in thirds.
"Do a plie," my teacher said "Never-ever ever fall," I replied doing as instructed and he nodded circling me "Never show dismay," he added and I changed my expression slightly "And be there when people call," I added. "I hope your prepared for whatever royal life may bring. Do keep grip and don't-" "Ever crack. I know. There's a time and place for everything." he smiled nodding his head "Get cleaned up and dressed, we have a ball tonight," he dismissed me and I curtsied before heading towards the bathroom where I could take a bath. My handmaids brushed my hair and helped me get into the gown I would be wearing for the day. "Should we remove the necklace? It clashes?" One of them asked, but my fingers reached to hold the pearl "I never take it off," I replied before standing up.
"Princess, there's a jeweler here to see you," the messenger said in the doorway, "Duchess Mina will be joining you," he added before disappearing. I did y best not to show emotion on my face but Mrs. Mira was not one of my favorite people to deal with. "Let's go," I said before walking out of the room to head to the court room where we meet all the court merchants. "Princess!" Duchess said catching up to me and looping her arm through mine. I gave her a closed lipped smile as she was a year older than me, so I owed her some respect "hello," I greeted her, "I heard he had a brand new necklace for sale," she whispered as we walked towards the merchants "Maybe a replacement for that old pearl?" she added before letting go rushing towards them "Welcome!" she squealed "Ah the princess, look what we have," the merchant said holding up a jewelry that was studded diamonds "It took me years to finish this creation," he added.
"The price point?" I replied as I inspected the beautiful handiwork "Well, for time and the price of materials I cannot settle for anything less than a thousand gold coin. However, neighboring kingdoms would be envious," he tried to sell it but from how tight our budget is currently, we'd have to raise the taxes on our people and I hardly think that necklace is worth starving citizens. "I'll have to decline, I'm not much for necklaces," I told him, and he looked at my neck then back at my eyes "Certainly this is better than that small pearl around your neck," he said showing me his dazzling necklace again "With this pearl our people can still eat," I replied a bit more harshly than I meant to "You'll have to sell it to another kingdom," I added turning around.
"Thank you for showing it to me though, it is gorgeous," I praised before heading back towards the tower, leaving the duchess to fuss over the necklace alone. I went to my favorite hiding place, which was the library in the tower. No one came all the way down here, and there was only one spot to sit in the whole place, it was the best place to hide. I picked up the science book I had started a few days ago and settled back into the seat. I could spend days down here, if only I didn't have obligations. I finished the book before placing it back on the shelf before climbing the stairs back to the real world. "Where have you been?" one of my maids rushed over as I walked down the hall "reading," I replied and she shook her head "Well, we need you to get in your ball gown," she said rushing me towards the bathroom.
They rushed to get me out of my first dress and into the biggest ballgown I had ever worn. I walked to the large doors that lead to the ball room, that's when I saw him. Jungkook. He was older now, jaw more narrow, his muscles nearly bursting out of his tight clothes. He was handsome, anyone with eyes could see that now. I blushed, what was I saying? This was the little boy who held me hand as I slept. "Good to see you," I greeted him, even though everything in me wanted to throw myself into his arms in a tight hug "You look well," he replied clearing his throat before offering me his elbow "As do you," I replied wrapping my hand around his bicep, and he wasn't even flexing but his muscles bulged "Are you back on the job?" I questioned looking forward as the maids readied to open the door "From this day on," he replied quietly.
The doors swung open and I smiled brightly as we walked in. All eyes were on us as we descended the stairs and I raised my chin as we glided onto the floor. "Father!" I released Jungkook and walked over to him "My beautiful girl," he cheered taking my hand and spinning me around "I just can't believe you're twenty now," he added releasing my hand. "More than old enough to get married," my mother remarked and my father shook his head "Not my baby, not yet," he said causing her to roll her eyes. Then as a family we went to greet the royals from other kingdoms welcoming them and making idle talk.
"Sir Harold," My father greeted him with arms open wide, my mother offering her hand giving a curtsy and then he turned towards me. My chest was so tight I had almost forgotten I was a princess until he said my name, his smile sending a shiver down my spine. He held out his hand and I grabbed the edges of my dress before lifting it up giving him a curtsy as my mother did, a greeting you use for people who you lack familiarity with. "I think we're closer than that," he teased getting my parents to laugh along "It's been a long day. I'm going to freshen up," I excused myself before heading towards one of the nearest doors. I push threw the door and as soon as I was out of the public's view, I fell into the wall, my knees shaking. My breathing had become wheezy, like there wasn't enough oxygen in the world for me. My hands clench tightly around my dress that was tightly tied around my chest, trying to pull it, as if that would help me breath better.
I heard the door open and I stood tall, holding my head with pride, acting as if I wasn't struggling before turning around. "Looks like we are alone here," Harold said with a smirk, part of me wanted to scream, shout, run, but I couldn't make that kind of scene "I actually have to get back," I said walking towards the door. He held out his arm, which was long enough in this tight corridor to keep me from getting by "What's the rush?" he asked with a smirk when suddenly the door opened and his arm flew to his side. Jungkook. My eyes well up in relief. "Return to the party knight," Harold dismissed, but I grabbed Jungkook's wrist before he could even get too far "I was telling Sir, Harold I must be getting back to my parents," I explained. I wrapped my arms around his elbow "Excuse us," I said before pulling Jungkook along with me.
We walked back out into the party and I released his arm before rushing out onto the nearby balcony. I was hoping fresh air would calm my racing heart. Jungkook stepped out with me, pulling the doors closed so we were cut off from the party. "Are you okay?" He questioned and I nodded my head, swallowing thickly before fixing his tie "A friend of my mother's," I replied shaking my head trying to dismiss it. "He seems very interested in you," He commented and I felt my knees shake as I nod my head in agreement, my lips quivered and I squeezed my eyes shut to stop the tears that followed the memories. "Sorry-I- Sorry," I replied reaching up to wipe the tears that escaped before opening my eyes to look at him. I knew he was concerned and there was no way he was going to let me go back in there without explanation.
"I found him and my mother one night in the library..." I said, I felt bile rise in my throat "Mother didn't catch me but Harold did. Said when I'm a bit older that he'll replace her with me," I added. He pressed his tongue against the side of his cheek, a habit he had as a young child to express his anger. "I won't let him," he said and I tilted my head to the side "Won't let him?" I questioned, "I won't let him." I couldn't help but smile a little "I'll keep you to it," I replied before walking passed him, I opened the doors and put on a smile before walking back out into the ballroom. Jungkook remained near me for the rest of the night as I wowed the guests with my grace. By the end of the night I was the one who was bidding farewell to our guests while my parents had already returned to their chambers to sleep.
"Goodbye, thank you for coming," I waved to the last guest as they got into their carriage, I then walked back into the palace and the guards pulled the doors shut. I sighed finally letting my shoulders droop "Long night?" Jungkook questioned with a slight smirk "And no one even asked me to dance," I said before placing my hands on my hips. Jungkook held out his hand towards me "What's a ball without dancing?" he questioned getting me to smile before accepting his hand. I didn't know Jungkook knew how to dance, but here he was leading me around the dance floor in a full on waltz. I was surprised at how well he danced and he was also strong, lifting me, spinning me and even dipping me.
I couldn't stop the giggles that leave my lips as we spun around the dance floor. "I should be getting ready for bed," I said eventually. We were now slow dancing, my head on his shoulder, his arms around my waist "Is that what you want?" he questioned the same hesitance that was in my voice. "We wouldn't want to start any rumors," I mumbled, as much as we'd like to believe are staff are loyally secretive, that is not so true, with the right price they will do anything. We pulled apart and I started walking towards the large staircase, Jungkook coming up behind me to lift up my large dress to keep me from tripping. We take the skywalk over to the tower where I resided.
We head to my large closet where Jungkook stands guarding the door. The seamstress and her assistant get to work unlacing and removing my gown. I'm left in nothing but a slip, thanking them for the beautiful gown before stepping out into the hallway. Jungkook eyes landed on me and then he looked away with red painted across his cheeks, "Princess... you can't just walk around like that," he stuttered through his words, "The tower hardly has anyone here," I said grabbing his arms and turning him towards the hallway, hiding in his shadow "Besides no one can see me behind you," I said giving him a little push. He sighed before leading me down the halls towards my room.
Jungkook's arm came out behind him, as if to check if I was truly hiding behind him "I'll be taking over," Jungkook said, I heard the clanking of metal "Sir, Jungkook you've been up for twenty four hours, even you need rest. Captains orders," the man replied with a chuckle "I'll give you an hour break. Come back when the bell strikes midnight and I'll go," Jungkook bargained, I peeked around his arm and the other knight's eyes landed on me, a smirk on his lips before he looked back at Jungkook "An hour Kook. Also, this came for her," he said tossing a book towards Jungkook, who caught it effortlessly. The other knight walked off whistling and Jungkook ushered me into my room, shoving the book into my hands.
I squealed rushing towards my large bed, setting down the book and opening it. The ink looked fresh, "Shouldn't you take your hair down before reading?" Jungkook asked pulling pins from my hair, causing it to fall down my shoulders "I only have so much candlelight," I replied getting him to chuckle. I have read every book our village has to offer that I've asked the local author's in this town to give the guards their new books so I had something to read. Promising to give them my thoughts of their stories, and whether I thought they were worth printing. I feel the brush run through my hair, "Princess, you'll have plenty of time to read," Jungkook said grabbing my chin to lift my head up so he could brush my front pieces and I blush "I'm not a little girl anymore," I remind him pushing the brush away.
He shrugged "You used to beg me to brush your hair. Said it made you sleepy," he replied putting the brush back where he found it "Besides you will always be younger than me," he added. I grabbed my book with one hand and used the other to get myself under the covers, "I usually read to sleep now," I told him. He sat down beside me, his eyes looking at my book. We read side by side and it reminds me of when we were younger and used to have sleepovers. I don't know how long it was before my eyes closed, but my eyes open when the book fell from my hands. I lift my head to see I had fallen asleep against Jungkook. His head was hanging forward, lips parted as he breathed, there was no denying that he had become handsome. He was always cute, but now he looked more mature.
I find my book before leaning over to place it on the nightstand near me. I settle back under the covers, leaning my head against Jungkook's arm. I knew that the other solider had come back and he must have known Jungkook was still in my room with me, but he did nothing to wake either of us. I let my eyes close and let myself be wrapped in the feeling of having him back by my side. It wasn't long before I had fallen back asleep. But when I woke the next morning, he was gone and my head was resting on one of my pillows. I push myself to sit, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I could just barely see the sun peaking over the palace walls when there's a knock on my door "Princess, are you up? The seamstress has your dress for the day," Jungkook's voice came through the door. "Yes," I called stepping out of bed, fixing my bed so it looked somewhat presentable.
The door opens and the seamstress enters holding a light day dress for me "I love the color," I said walking over to look at the silky lilac fabric. She helps me into the dress, tying up the back before heading back to her sewing room. I pick up the new book before leaving the room, Jungkook following behind me. I decided to head to the study, my favorite place to do reading, I mean you're surrounded by books. Also the sun shines brightly in there for the longest amount of time. I found my worn out chair, and curled up with my book in my lap. I noticed Jungkook sat in the window, but his curious eyes did not leave mine. "Yes?" I asked feeling slightly self conscious "Remember how you used to read to me?" he asked and I nodded, a vague memory coming to mind and he gave me a smile that made me wish I could save moments in time.
I looked back at my book and started reading the chapter over again. Jungkook and I spent days in the study, taking turns to read to each other, talking about the meaning behind the words. This is what it feels like to match wits with someone, it's the feeling of freedom and seeing the light. Our conversations when he first arrived back at my side went from a few minutes a day, to hours. He's a bit of a flirt, but then again Jungkook had always been a charming young man. He also had gotten a lot more handsome with age. It was helpless. Jungkook had gone back to being my favorite person in a matter of weeks.
He followed a step behind me, but that did little to stop our conversations. We were on our way to the throne room, one of my advisors saying I had a very adamant visitor. Once we were inside I looked around until I saw a face I knew. The jeweler. I walked over to the anxious looking merchant "Princess, I hope you are doing well," he said as we approached him, "Yes, thank you. I hope you are alright as well," I greet him with a curtsy. "So what is it you'd like to show me now?" I asked and his eyebrows furrow "Oh nothing, I actually came here for a different reason," he explained and Jungkook shared a look with me, "What?" questioned.
"I have come for payment," the merchant who made the diamond necklace said explained to me, I furrowed my eyebrows "Payment? Whatever for?" I questioned. He looked flabbergasted "The necklace of course," he said offering me a bright smile. I shook my head "Oh no, I refused the necklace, remember?" I replied kindly assuming that maybe he had gotten confused. I looked towards Jungkook silently letting him know we were going to be moving on and he nodded taking the first step and I followed after him. "The princess is a liar and a thief!" the merchant shouted getting me to stop in my tracks, onlookers from others in the royal court, I was taken back, in shock that he shouted and his claim. "I thought I explained-" "Just because your a princess does not mean you get things for free!" he cut me off.
This wasn't an outright battle, but a steady, careful shredding of my dignity, my credibility. I couldn't hold the angry tears and looked towards Jungkook, his voice cold as death "Be careful how you speak about my High Lady," he said his hand over his sword. "I'm- I'm not attacking the princess, I'm simply looking for payment," the merchant said, a bead of sweat on his forehead "She said she didn't buy it," Jungkook said growing annoyed. "But the lady sent the Duchess to purchase, promising to send money later," the merchant said and I furrowed my eyebrows "I requested no such thing of anyone. As I even told you I only prefer this necklace," I said reaching up to the one around my neck.
"I do not have the necklace, and as far as I'm aware it is somewhere within the royals," the man said with his face red "Should we speak to the king?" Jungkook whispered into my ear and I shook my head. I don't want to be the little girl who runs to daddy anymore. "We will have the royal investigators look into the matter. Could you give us three days? We can put you up in the castle," I offered the man. He thought it over before nodding his head "Three days time I require payment or else," he said and I looked towards one of my maids and she rushed to show him towards his room. I released a sigh "Let's go," I said to Jungkook, and the two of us walked off towards the royal police.
"I never sent anyone for the necklace," I whispered confused, Jungkook shrugged "Perhaps he's trying to get hush money for something you didn't do," he replied. That could be the case, but I've known this man since I was a child and he's a good man, a tad obsessive when it comes to his work, but he wouldn't cheat for money. "I don't think he'd do something like that," I replied with a shake of my head, "Is there anyone in your staff who'd want to sabotage your name?" he questioned and I shook my head no, all of my staff I've had since I was a girl and they were more like family to me than my blood. Jungkook hummed "Perhaps a jealous girlfriend?" he offered and I stopped in place "That wench," I snapped and Jungkook shushed me "You're a princess," he whispered "I was thinking of her too. I'm with you on that, but the situation is flawed. We need the royal investigator to sniff her out," he explained.
I felt anger wash over me "It's unfair," I said and he nodded empathetically "But you're tough and you'll get through it. Leave the police to me, I'll send them in the right direction," he said before heading inside the building. I sighed waiting outside, looking around at the other town folk as they walked by, I always found people watching interesting. Everyone is living a life that is so vastly different than mine and have their own thoughts, opinions, likes, dislikes. When I was younger I'd watch people from the tower, make up names and stories for each person. That's when I saw her, walking around town with her head held high. I knew I shouldn't go far without Jungkook but my anger outreached my reason.
I walked towards her "Mina," I called getting her to stop, sending off the person she was with. "Princess," she replied giving me a curtsy, something that would never happen inside the palace where no one was watching her. "Why did you get the necklace in my steed? I did not request such a thing," I said quietly and she smirked "I could just tell how much you liked it from your eyes," she replied as if she was doing me a favor. "Then you also should have heard how I would refuse to buy a necklace for selfish reasons when my people are out here starving." She shrugged her shoulders "As princess you can do whatever you want," she replied, she then bowed to me "I shall see you later," she said.
"What do you have to gain in ruining me?" I demanded of Mina and she smirked "Everything my dear. Your father views me as a mentor, but your mother views me as you competition. If you fail to meet her expectations who do you think she'd leave the kingdom to?" her voice was lace with sugar and venom "My father would never agree-" "Well whose more likely to die first, mommy or daddy?" she questioned and I felt the color drain from my face "Mother wouldn't..." I wanted to believe what I was saying, but how could I be sure? My mother never seemed to like me since the day I was born? I felt light headed "And good luck trying to prove your innocence," she said before leaving me alone in the middle of the street.
"Princess, I was scared you ran off," Jungkook said walking over to me, "Sorry," I mumbled turning towards him "What's on your mind?" he asked as if he could read my thoughts. "Nothing," I lied before turning to look at him "What did the police say?" I asked and he sighed running his fingers through his hair "They are quite caught up in a murder case at the moment, but they will send one of their deputies," Jungkook replied causing my heart to deflate "I don't want this to get back to my parents," I told him. He reached down and took my hand "We'll figure it out," he said giving me a smile and I nod before allowing him to lead me back towards the tower. I felt bad for not telling him the whole truth, but women can be catty and he didn't need to be dragged into it.
I could hear the whispering behind my back and I knew it was going to be about me. The merchant made sure that every visitor had heard his speech, which means in a matter of days the whole town will know that the princess is denying buying a necklace to get out of paying. My reputation would be taking a hit, regardless of it we prove the claims to be false or not. Once we pass into the tower I felt the hot tears well in my eyes. Neither of us spoke a word, he silently followed me towards the study. He was shutting the door while I walked over and sat down in my favorite chair. I tried to rake my brain for where the necklace could've ended up, or who's hands it was in now.
Jungkook did not say anything, leaving me alone with my thoughts. Eventually I begun thinking of people and my relationships with them. I wish Mina hated me less, I wished my mother believed in me more, I wish my father paid more attention. "Princess," Jungkook said getting my attention from the window, only then did I notice someone was with him. "This is Yuri, he's from the royal police, he wants to know what's going on," Jungkook explained. I invited him to sit down in the chair across from me. He pulled out a pen and notepad, "A few days ago the merchant came to the castle to show me his newest creation. It was a bejeweled necklace, beautiful no doubt, but the price was way too high." I reached up to feel the pearl around my neck "Besides this is my favorite necklace, I never take it off," I added feeling my cheeks redden.
"I sent him away with the necklace, the next thing I know he comes to the court asking for payment of a necklace I don't have," I told him and he nodded his head finishing up whatever note he was taking before looking at me "Anything else you want me to know?" he questioned and I nodded "He said one of the duchesses picked it up for me, saying that I requested it, but that is false," I informed him and I could see a hint disbelief in his eyes "Mina was her name, and ask any handmaid around, our relationship is... complicated," I said. He looked towards Jungkook for confirmation and he nodded his head, whether he believed me or not, he had my back, the man looked back towards me "Thank you for your time princess, I'll do the best to get the situation cleared up," he said before getting up to head out of the study. I anxiously awaited for the royal police to come and tell me that the situation. If they found the necklace, if they know who was behind trying to set me up. Jungkook tried to ease my mind by keeping me distracted with things, but it was hard because there was this thing in the back of my mind nagging at me. Eventually I got annoyed with him and forced him to guard the door like the other knights do. I was staring out the large window when Jungkook came in and I sighed turning to scold him, but he was not playing around. "We've got to go," he said grabbing my arm and pulling me to my feet, he took my hand and pulled me out of the study. He basically became my human shield, carefully and quietly sneaking us down the long halls. "Jungkook what's going on?" I asked starting to feel nervous because this wasn't normal for him. He just squeezes my hand.
I held on tightly to Jungkook's hand as he dragged me down the stairs "Where are we going?" I questioned quietly not wanting anyone to catch wind of where we were going. We made it to the basement where there was only rooms where the knights sleep. He pushed me into one of the rooms, "Stay here," he instructed, the sound of footsteps above us, "Where are you...No," I said holding onto his arm, he was planning to stop them himself. "Trust me" he said pulling my hand away from him before shutting the door and locking me inside. I walked over to the bed and sat down. That's when I realized I was in Jungkook's room. The only person who had a key to this room was him. I hope he stayed safe.
I looked over his dresser to see he had a journal. I know I should respect his privacy, but I didn't know he journaled, I didn't even know he knew how to write, although he was always present in my lessons and he is smart. I opened the journal to see he had written at least a paragraph each day since he left at 17. I moved the journal to catch more light but then a folded piece of paper fell into my lap. I set the journal down and lifted up the piece of paper, unfolding it to find that it was a nicely written letter and at the top it was written for me.
Dear Y/n,
What color is the castle again? Have you imagined dancing in your room as much as I have? How silly of me, to come to such a realization that I: as delicate as a bull, has fallen in love with someone like you. You're much more delicate than me, I know. Gentle hands that I've spent many long days daydreaming of. To think me, a knight meant to be training to become a warrior to stand at your side, wasting my precious time thinking about interlocking fingers with you; kissing your knuckles and fingertips and forcing your palm to touch my cheek because hands such as yours should be with hands such as mine. Is it idiotic of me to want to kiss you? Because if your hands are so soft then your lips must be too.
Are your lips soft? It's funny, I moisturize mine nearly every second of every day just in case we happen to bump into each other again. There was a time where I didn't care for the dryness of my lips, how they racked, nor did I pay much attention to the feeling of my rough hands from gripping my sword far too tight and now on late nights I wish to reverse the damage. I wish to be perfect for you. I can't help but ask, what is perfect to you? Tell me darling and I'll fix myself in every way because you deserve perfection. What a perfectionist I am.
Do you dance in your castle? Have you created a song with sweet sounds of your hums and your graceful feet landing on the floor of your ballroom? or do you just call it a room. Your room. Even as a knight, would you let me in? I want to touch you, to hold you, to dance with you. Let us dance together with the wind outside of your window. Let your curtains be thing, but be closed, because I'd find myself becoming jealous if anyone else saw how beautifully you move. Our shadows could be inspiration for a poet, an author, an artist; our shadows could be a young woman's standards or a musician's muse. How I hope to listen to the creativity of another because of seeing you- of us dance. Such pretty dancer you are, my love.
Until we meet again, Your Knight
I hugged the letter to my chest, my cheeks were burning but there was a large smile across my lips. The letter distracted me from everything that was happening around me until I heard a loud thud on the floor above me. I folded the letter back up and tucked it into my dress for safe keeping before getting up to walk towards the door. I pressed my ear against the door to hear the soft whispering of people. I slowly backed away from the door, heading towards one of the closets in the room. I pulled it open and managed to stuff my dress and myself inside before pulling the doors closed. I heard the doorknob shake and I had to cover my mouth to keep myself from gasping out loud. There was pounding and the next thing I knew the sound of the hinge and doorframe tearing down.
My shaking hands felt around for anything that could be used to protect myself. I felt the sharp prick in my finger and carefully felt my way to the handle of the small dagger. I held the dagger with both hands, pointing it towards the doors to the closet. My chest was heaving with anxiety as I listened carefully to the sound of footsteps, by my guess it was only one person. I closed my eyes tightly, praying to the gods above that whoever it was would just leave the room. However, fate was not on my side. All I could see was bright light and I leaped forwards, pushing my dagger into whatever was in front of me. I finally understood what it felt like to break skin and muscle. I push the man off of me, the sound of gurgling and choking and when my eyes adjusted to the light I watched as the man collapsed to the ground with a dagger into his throat.
I fell down on all fours, biting my lips to try and keep myself from throwing up. I sat up on my knees my hands leaving a bloody print on the floor. I felt my eyes widen as I turn my hands so my palms were faced up, blood covered it, leaking between my fingers. Frantically I rubbed my hands against the skirt of my dress, trying to clean them of the blood, but there was still a faint hue of red. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I continued to rub my hands raw on my dress which now had bloody handprints all over it. I heard the sound of footsteps and I crawled backwards until my back hits the dresser.
Jungkook was the first to rush through the doorway, a few members of the royal guard behind him. "Search around, they're nearby," Jungkook ordered so the rest of the men would leave us. He stepped over the body and knelt down in front of me, his broad shoulders blocking the scene behind him, but it was too late, all of it was ingrained in my brain. "Y/n what happened?" he asked, but I just shook, my entire body trembling, I couldn't even breathe much less begin to explain. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his lap and I breathed in the scent of sweat and him on his skin. My arm hung limp at my sides, his heavy breath fanning down my back. Terror clung to my pores, to my muscles, causing me to be stiff as a board. I felt his lips brush against my ear "Please hug me back."
I forced myself to relax, my body sagging, arms lifting up to come around him, gripping him as tightly as possible. I sobbed, it was loud, it was ugly. He had to hold me tighter to keep me from thrashing around. "Calm don, Princess. Calm down," he whispered and I squirming against him, "Don't tell me to calm down," I snapped. This might be something he has learned to get used to but it was terrifying to me. "I need you to calm down for me, Y/n. Can you do that? Please, calm down and tell me what's going on." I stopped trying to escape his arms, just holding him. I took a deep breath, with difficulty and nodded.
I pull back to look at him and he takes my bloody hand in his "Any of this yours?" he asked and I shook my head as tears rolled down my cheek. I had just killed someone. "H-he came in and I had a dagger-" I managed to studder halfway through "I'll kill them," he growled turning around to follow the rest of the guards. "No- please don't go- don't go," I said grabbing onto him and he instantly turned to face me "Don't leave me," I cried burying my face in his shoulder "Okay," he agreed holding one arm around my waist to keep me up, the other coming to the back of my head "It's okay," he told me brushing my hair "I'm here."
It took me a while to come back to my senses "I order you to never leave my side again," I said holding tightly to him. "You're not the Queen yet," he replied sounding almost as if he was sad himself, but I was not in my right mind to hear anything else, "Promise me Jungkook," I begged him quietly, at his name he froze before clearing his throat "I promise," he replied gently. I heard the sound of more people and Jungkook let go of me, using his body to block their view of me as I tried to collect myself. I wiped my tears off my cheeks and fixed my hair before stepping beside Jungkook "Was father informed?" I questioned the royal knights who nodded before leading me from where we were to the court room.
"My princess," my father said and I ran towards him, wrapping my arms around him "Are you hurt?" he questioned "I just cut my finger a little bit," I answered honestly. He took my hand into his to look at my now scabbing scratch "A battle scar," he joked getting me to smile, I couldn't tell him about how the other man ended up, even though I felt sick to my stomach. "What happened?" I questioned not understanding how people broke into the castle, "I'm not sure but thank goodness your mother and the duchess were out. I need to go talk to the royal police. Jungkook escort the princess back to her room, the rest of you with me," he directed before walking off with his guards. Jungkook and I headed back towards the tower, everything seeming extremely baren, no maids or people. The castle was on lockdown.
We get into my room and Jungkook waits outside the door as I said I was going to clean myself up in the bathroom. The first thing I do once the door is shut is untie my dress, I needed to get the blood stained thing off my body. As soon as it pools around my ankles, a piece of paper falls down. The letter. A smile hints at my lips and I picked it up before walking over to my bed and tuck it under my pillow. I hope he forgot he wrote it and doesn't go looking for it. I walk into the bathroom and turn on the hot water and picked up the bar of soap and begin to scrub. I wanted to get every last drop of blood out of my hands, I no longer wanted it to be hued red by blood, but rubbed raw from scrubbing, but it never felt clean enough.
"Princess?" I heard Jungkook's voice and suddenly he was in the doorway, a sad sigh leaving his lips "You're going to hurt your hands," he said reaching over to shut off the water, but I turn it back on "They are not clean," I told him. "When the soap is gone you are done," he said before leaving me to my own devices. I felt like Lady MacBeth, out you damn spot. Once the soap was gone and my hands were in pain, I dry my hands off before going into my room. The dress was gone and I assumed Jungkook had taken it when he left. I walked over to my bed and slipped under the silk sheets. I wanted to will myself to sleep, to forget this, and have this all become a dream or more accurately a nightmare.
I tossed and turned, rolling from one side to the other, opening my eyes, closing my eyes. Nothing worked. I huffed sitting straight up, the darkness had taken over the entirety of my room. "Jungkook," I asked into the darkness, moments later my room floods with light from the hallway door and Jungkook peeks his head inside. "Did you say my name?" he asked and I nodded my head "I can't sleep," I whispered and he stepped inside "Would you like me to stay?" he questioned, my head nods before I even consider it. He shuts the door and walked over to the side of my bed, turning on one of the candles so there's a dim light in the room. He pulls one of the chairs up next to the bed before sitting down "Better?" he asked and I nod climbing under the covers once again.
I closed my eyes but still I felt uneasy, I opened my eyes to see Jungkook was still sitting there "Would you hold my hand?" I questioned, he bit his lip, either to hide his smile or laugh, this almost made me want to take back what I had said, but his hand finds mine. "This is like when we were kids," he teased but I rolled my eyes before closing them. Something about having his hand in mine made me feel a lot more secure. Like nothing could touch me as long as he here. His thumb stroked the back of my hand and the soft humming coming from his chest is what eventually lulls me back to sleep.
The sunlight shining through my window wakes me up, my room flooded with golden light. I rolled my head to the side and that's when I saw Jungkook. He was resting against my bed, his arms sprawled out over his head, he was fast asleep. His lips were parted slightly, and his eyelash fluttered against his cheek. I looked over his broad shoulders, following down his strong arms to the tips of his fingers. There was glimmering sunlight touching the tip of his finger, as if the sunlight was bursting from his fingertips, instead of coming in through the window. Everything he touches turns into gold, and I'm just one of the lucky ones who he holds. I want to believe that when I feel the butterflies in my stomach that he wasn't like this with every, that it was personal between the two of us.
So this is love?
There was no denying that Jungkook was handsome. I couldn't help but think that his heart belongs to me and that caused my heart to flutter. I reach out to run my fingers through his hair, and he stirs in his sleep. A second later he opened his eyes and pushes himself up "Morning," he said before cracking his neck "You didn't have to stay all night," I told him and he laughed out his nose, stretching out his shoulders "Princess, you had a death grip on my hand all night," he replied causing heat to climb up my neck "Surely you could've just forced me to let go while I was sleeping," I said crossing my arms over my chest. "I removed one finger and you almost woke up in a fright," he replied with a teasing grin "I didn't mind princess, you had a hard day," he added before standing up.
"I'll get your seamstress," he said walking to the door, "I'll come with you," I replied flinging my covers to the side, basically jumping out of bed "I told you not to leave me," I mumbled grabbing his arm, embarrassed at the fact that the moment he left my vision I would become terrified. "You don't want people to see you in your slip," he countered but I doubted there was hardly anyone in the tower this early in the morning "Good thing you're much larger than me," I replied pushing him out the door in front of me. He sighed before leading the way towards the closet room. There was no one in the hallways, and when we arrived to the room, he waited outside while the women helped me into another dress.
"Princess, your family requests a meeting for breakfast," I heard one of the royal council call through the door "Thank you," I called back as the women tightened the lace, another one tying my hair back in a bow. The gown was a soft baby blue color, white between the pleats. Once they were all done, they pulled the door open, Jungkook turned around to look at me and he almost looked speechless "Do you like it?" I questioned doing a spin, blue was his favorite color, "lovely," he replied holding out his hand. I took it and he brought me out into the hallway, before allowing me to lead him towards the dining hall. I enter the room to find my parents and Mina, everyone else had cleared the room "He stands outside," My mother said and I grabbed Jungkook's wrist before he left without a word "He's my personal knight," I replied.
Her eyes narrow "This is a family manner," she said crossing her arms and my eyes fall on Mina "Then why is the duchess here?" I questioned. My father sighed "Both can stay, sweetheart sit down," he said and I walk over to the table with Jungkook behind me. He pulled out my chair and pushed it in once I sat down. "I was talking with the royal police and it seemed that it was a random attack. If it were planned they would've had a separate team after the Queen and Duchess since they were gone," my father explained, "They have yet to get the men to confess as to why they attacked, but we don't plan on letting them off lightly," my father added and all of us nod our heads, "Mina, make sure you also bring a guard with you," my father addressed her before looking at Jungkook "Don't let her leave your sight, boy," he said and Jungkook nodded.
The rest of the breakfast was silent until my father spoke up again "They also found the merchant's necklace, apparently a woman posing as a duchess took it and was going to sell at another kingdom," he said and my mother and Mina glance at each other, almost as if both were in relief "Well, it's good our precious daughter was innocent," mother said and a part of me wanted to stand up and scream at her how she should've just believed me in the first place. "I've lost my appetite," I said politely before getting up "Please enjoy," I excused myself Jungkook following behind me. I felt anger fill my system, my hands curled so tightly my nails dug into my skin. "Princess," Jungkook said but I ignored his call, storming back towards the tower. He grabbed my wrist stopping me in my tracks and I let out a breath through my nose.
"They planted it on some stranger," I hissed through gritted teeth, trying to keep my tears in "Our merchant wouldn't be so careless, he wouldn't have given to anyone but Mina." I turn to look at him "And mother knew, she knew about Mina trying to ruin my image and covered for her! Swept it all under the rug," I said and the worst part was I knew too, I knew what Mina did yet no one took my word for it and I didn't even tell Jungkook. "She told me too," I said tiredly and Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows "She admitted it?" he asked and I nodded "She wants me gone, and my mother had always preferred her to me." Anger melts into sadness, "Why couldn't she preferred her own child."
Jungkook took me into his arms, a hand curling over the back of my head that now rests on his chest. "I don't understand how anyone could prefer anyone over you," he said and I couldn't help but smile "You like me better right?" I asked in a hopeful voice, "You might be the only person I've ever liked," he said. I pull back slightly, his arms now around my back, and I just smiled at him. The tips of his ears turn red "Don't look at me like that," he said releasing me from his arms and taking a step back. "Like what?" I questioned, my eyes never leaving his face, he turns away so his back is towards me "Like I'm your favorite person in the world," he muttered, I smirked walking past him "Maybe you are," I teased leaving him to catch up.
We round the corner and I almost crash into a member of the royal knight, luckily Jungkook pulled me into his side just in time "Watch where you're going," Jungkook said. "I'm sorry princess," he said bowing apologetically and that's when I noticed he was the young one placed on the case of the missing necklace "So the case is over," I said causing a confused look to cross his face, then redden when he realized "I-I was close to uncovering where the necklace was when captain found it on a young woman in town," he explained and I nodded my head "Where did you think the necklace was?" I asked curious causing Jungkook to squeeze my arm as if to silently tell me to be quiet. "Honestly..." he leaned in slightly "I think it was in the castle, not the tower... the castle," he whispered so only we could hear him "Thank you," I said before walking off. I didn't need to know more than that, it was enough evidence that Mina was trying to set me up.
"Shall we walk outside?" I asked looking out the windows at the garden "If you wish," Jungkook replied, he hold out his elbow and I looped my arm through his and he led me towards the door. We stepped outside and the fresh air surrounds us, and we walked out into the garden. I walked over to the fountain and climbed onto the ledge, something I had done since I was a little girl, it was like my own balance beam. I stick my hands out to help me keep my balance, but when I stepped on my dress it caused me to slip towards the water. Jungkook caught my wrist and tugged me to fall the other way, so I fell into his arms and chest. Once my feet were on the ground he released me from his arms "You always keep me on my toes," he said and I giggled straitening out my dress.
"There isn't anything I wouldn't do to keep you by my side," I said looking up at him, he had a lovesick look in his eyes but other than that he looked nonchalant "You don't need to try too hard. I am your knight after all," he replied crossing his arms over his chest. "Even if you weren't, I won't give you up." The little smile on his face does something crazy to my heart rate. "I wouldn't give you up," he replied and I burn "Who knew you were such a nice guy underneath your knightly exterior?" I teased. He rolled his eyes "Don't go telling anyone else or they'll be disappointed to find out it's only for you." Before I wouldn't have thought another second about what he said, but ever since finding the letter I can't help but view it as flirting.
"Jungkook," I turned towards the fountain, embarrassed about what I was about to ask, "Are you in love with me?" I asked and he made no audible noise, so I turned to look at him and he was just chuckling at me "Who wouldn't be in love with the princess?" he replied before I could tease him for cooping out of the answer a loud noise shot off and I threw myself into Jungkook's chest, arms wrapped tight around his torso, eyes squeezed shut. He held me in his arms "It's Hunting season," he replied running his hand over my back "You're safe," he whispered, but all I could hear is the fast beat of his heart. I stepped away from him and clear my throat "Maybe I just wanted an excuse to hug you," I replied before turning back to the fountain.
The rest of the day I spent with Jungkook at my side, the two of us basically flirting with each other, although to the outside it seemed like how it always been, but since the letter it felt different. Tonight my parents were throwing a ball, they've had it planned for a while but I thought considering we had a break in last night they might change their mind. My father however didn't want to worry the people, and my mother wanted to keep up her image, so I spent a good portion of the night getting ready. The ballgown was large and heavy, but it was beautiful, and they curled my hair and tied half of it up with a bow. Apparently there were few potential suitors tonight so my mother requested they dolled me all up.
I stepped out of the dressing room and Jungkook scanned me over, adoration in his eyes, I wonder how I missed that look. I felt heat crawl up my neck "I can't be late," I said turning to walk down the hall as my cheeks burn. We arrive and everyone is looking at me, I walk through the room as elegantly as I can as I head towards my parents. I hug my mother and kiss my father on my cheek, greeting them as if I hadn't seen them in years. "Be on your best. We want you to have several suitors," my mother whispered in my ear before releasing me, her eyes warning me not to embarrass her. My parents walk off and I let out a heavy sigh, "I'm going to need a drink," I muttered heading towards one of the waiters. I lift a glass of champagne off his tray and situate myself behind Jungkook, out of the public eye before downing it like a shot.
"Princess," Jungkook scolded, his eyes looking around to see if anyone was paying attention, I hand him my drink "I'm going to need it," I replied before grabbing another. This time I carried it around with me as I greeted our guests, holding it daintily, occasionally taking sips. I could definitely feel the alcohol going through my system. I tripped over my own two feet only to have Jungkook catch and steady me. I blushed looking around, but his broad shoulders hid me from the world "You're fine," he said and I smiled "Dance with me," I said taking his hand and walking towards the dance floor. He followed me hesitantly but with a nod from my father the two of us got in position before the next slow song played.
His hand fits around my waist perfectly, his rough hands gently holding mine in the palm of his hand. He held me close, too close. His firm frame pressed against my every soft curve. As the music continues his arm slides behind my back, fully embracing me. I rest my head against his chest. The champagne pulsating through my veins, casting a warm glow upon is, allowing the magic of chemistry to expand between us. My thoughts come back to the present, the warmth in his strength. My nose brush against his neck, I love the smell of his skin and I brush my lips against his neck and he shivers.
It takes a lot of restraint on my end to not claim every inch of his body. I lift my head, moving in his arms to face him, but he had his head turned to the side, the opposite direction of me. His eyes busy scanning the crowd, "Jungkook," I whispered to gain his attention but he just hums in response letting me know he had heard me. I slipped my hand from his and placed it on his cheek, "Look at me," I demanded trying to turn his head, but he fought me. "Ask me what I want?" I murmured, my fingers brushing down his cheek, my hand taking his back to dance. I let out a sigh as he ignored me, turning my head to gaze off in the distance. He turned his head, his lips just barely an inch from my ear, the public display of affection from him- not sexual, not teasing, but pure affection- filled my chest with warmth, but I tried to swallow down my hope.
"What do you want?" he whispered and I turned my gaze to meet his, our noses inches from each other, and suddenly, we weren't in the castle, in the ballroom full of people. We were in m room, ignoring the party and the world around us, a world we mostly disregarded when we were together. "I want you," I whispered simply "Just you. Nothing else. Only ever you." he breathed out in pain, closing his eyes. I wanted to kiss him hard like in the novels, but this was reality and I was a princess and he was a knight and we had to carry ourselves in a certain way. But I hugged him close and inhaled his unique scent, allowing myself to get drunk on it. I held back all the emotions that flooded me. The happiness. The wariness and love. So much love.
the song ends and we finally pull away from each other, I looked down to his clutched fists at his side. "I burn for you," I said reaching out towards his hand but he pulls back and I let out a soft fake laugh "Can't even look me in the face?" I questioned. I huffed before turning around accepting a dance from another taker, but this person did not set my body quite on fire. I was quite drunk at the end of the night, taking a new drink for each man that wanted to dance with me. I was giggling at anything they were saying and basically tripping over my feet whenever I took a step. But most of all I felt chuffed to see the jealousy on Jungkook's face with each man that kissed the back of my hand. Although I must have been not acting very ladylike because the next thing I knew Jungkook was leading me out of the ballroom and back towards the tower.
I didn't even care about how mother had told him to take me out of there because I was acting like a harlet. I was just happy to have my hand back in his where it belonged. We got to the tower and he led me towards my room, but I did had other plans. I pushed him back against one of the walls, so our bodies were pressed together once more. My hands were on his chest, and I leaned up on my tippy toes to get my mouth closer to his, but he tilts his chin up, his head smacking against the wall. I stare up at him drunkenly "Say my name," I begged "Say I'm yours- Promises we will never be ripped apart." he swallowed thickly "Princess-" "Don't you have urges? Don't you burn for me?" I questioned as he gently pushed me away and grabbed my arm to lead me into my bedroom.
"You think I don't have urges?" Jungkook growled letting go of my wrist as soon as he shut the door behind him, I blink innocently at him letting my dress fall completely down. His eyes didn't hesitate to explore the now exposed skin "Don't you think I know your not the same little girl?" he questioned stepping towards me. Only when he was standing over me, looking down at me and I was only wearing a slip did I realize how much smaller I was than him. "Fuck it," he whispered before grabbing my hips and spinning me around so my back was pressed against his chest. My cheeks burned at the feel of his rough hands on my skin. He leaned in so his breath was against my neck "Look at you, putty in my hands," he whispered brushing his lips against my ear causing a shiver to run down my back.
"I want so many things," he whispered "I want your mind. Your strength. I want to be worth your time." His fingers graze the hem of my bra "I want this up." His other graze my panties "I want these down." The tips of his fingers graze over my sides "I want to feel your skin on fire. I want to feel your heart racing because of me, because you want me too. Because you never- ever want me to stop. I wan every second. Every inch of you. All of it." I was burning, dead weight in his arms, leaning against his chest. I feel his lips brush against my neck and I have the audacity to whimper, how embarrassing. "I want to know where to touch you. I want to know how to touch you. I want to know how to convince you to design a smile just for me." I feel his chest rising and falling, up and down, up and down. "I-I thought you only saw me as a friend."
"Yes. I do. You're my best friend." I want to turn around, I want to face him, to look in his eyes, to measure his sincerity. He pushed me towards the bed and I fell forward into the bed. I looked over my shoulder and Jungkook was rubbing his jaw "Go to sleep, you're drunk," he said and before I could even complain he was out the door. I sighed with a pout before climbing into my bed, laying down on my pillow. I reached under my pillow and pulled out the letter that Jungkook had never intended to send to me. I opened it before reading his sweet words, my heart knowing that he meant every word he said. I tuck the letter away once again before padding across the floor to stand at the door. I press my ear against the wood and I could hear Jungkook breathing through the door.
It was like he was gasping for air. Like I have taken all the breath from his lungs, and he was trying desperate to catch it. I knelt down to the floor and sat with my back against the door, listening to him try and calm himself down. He wanted me just as much as I wanted him. He was me definition of desire. I never knew how engulfing the flames could be till now. I curled against the door. I wanted another moment with him. When he's out of my sight, I miss him and nothing felt right until I was with him again. My eyelids felt heavy, so I let them shut. I imagine his strong arms curling around me, his firm chest beneath my head. It was easy to fall asleep in his arms.
The next morning the guard outside my door said Jungkook would meet me in the dining hall. I wore my silk robe and he escorted me through the tower to the dining room where my parents and Mina ate breakfast. Jungkook standing off in the corner, only nodding as a greeting, I felt embarrassed by my actions last night, he was keeping his distance now. I sat down across from my parents, my father a bit grumpy and my mother chipper "Rare for us to have breakfast twice in a row," I joked while reaching for my knife to butter my toast. "Despite your behavior we had quite a few inquires about when you are of age to marry," my mother said and it took everything for me not to turn and look at Jungkook's face, "Marriage," I said with a soft giggle. My father was still sulking "As much as I dislike the idea, you are of age," my father agreed, I hummed "Whatever you think is best father," I said stealing a glance at Jungkook who was just staring directly straight.
My mother went into a long rant on how I needed to be on my best behavior, showing only my good parts so that I can attract the best of men. I drown her out, nodding occasionally so she doesn't know that I am ignoring her. Once she was done talking and my father was royally pissed off, they left the breakfast table, leaving me alone with Mina. "At least I don't have to have an arranged marriage. I could even have a knight if I want to," she said her eyes darting to the man behind me. I felt green, my hand holding my fork so tight my knuckles were white. I had half a mind to drive it into her palm. I threw my fork on the table before standing up "Have a good day," I said as kindly as I could manage before storming out of the dining hall.
I knew Jungkook was following behind me, but I couldn't face him, not when I have tears in my eyes. I veer right and push the doors open to head outside "Princess," Jungkook called as the door swung shut. "Princess," Jungkook said again catching up, but staying behind me "It's not fair," I muttered, "I'm never going to be in love in an arranged marriage!" Really I couldn't help but feel like I could never be in love with anyone other than Jungkook. I continue to the fountain, collapsing against it, staring at my reflection in the water, "I will never find a love like..." I sighed before standing up "It isn't fair. I wanted to find someone, on my own," I complained, I was not letting him catch up to me. I didn't want him to see me, and I didn't want to hear what Jungkook had to say.
"You will be find with someone Y/n," Jungkook said harshly causing me to stop running from him "You will meet him and you will love him, and you will live and die for them because that is your way," he said running his fingers through his hair, "And I will watch," he added softly, giving me a sad smile "I promised to never leave your side," he said. I thought the idea of me getting married would force him to express his feelings I know he has for me, but when that didn't work I thought maybe saying there's no one I could love would force it out of him. I was beyond frustrated, I couldn't stop the tears that welled in my eyes "How can one be so stupid!" I said causing his eyes to widen in shock.
"Princess-" I shook my head stopping him from speaking "Leave me be," I said before heading out of the gardens back towards the castle. "Y/n," he said causing me to stop on the stairs "You're right, I'm stupid, I can't read your mind, so just tell me," he added. I turned my head to the side, not being able to look him in the eye "Why didn't you ever send it?" I asked in a soft voice. "What?" he questioned and I swallowed thickly "why didn't you ever send me the letter you wrote?" I asked spinning around to face him. He paled, his hands clenching and unclenching at his sides "You saw that," he said before clearing his throat "in my room," he was walking himself through it and I was worried he was going to be upset I went through his things.
"I didn't send it because I couldn't," he said looking me in the eyes and my heart sunk "Because you didn't mean it or because you physically could not?" I demanded. He sighed running his fingers through his hair, he should've known I would not have let him off the hook so easily. "We are from different worlds Y/n," he said desperate for me to believe him "I only have a title because I can fight. A romance between the two of us...It just wouldn't work," he added defeated as if he already thought this through. "So I never sent the letter to save us from making a mistake," he explained, it pained me that he thought it a mistake. Two people in love, how could that be wrong? I walked towards him so I was able to stand in front of him.
"Has your feelings changed since writing the letter?" I questioned and he avoided my eyes "Does it matter?" he replied and I took his chin in my hands and forced him to look at me "It matters to me," I said. He swallowed thickly as if he was torn between telling the truth or lying, "No, I wouldn't say my feelings have changed," he answered. "In this moment I need you to see me as an ordinary girl," I requested and he looked at me quizzically "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a guy, asking him to love her," I said causing my cheeks to burn and he shook his head "Princess-" "In this moment I'm only Y/n," I told him. This was like pulling teeth. "I've loved you since the day we met," he breathed "You asked me to hold your hand while you slept," he added reaching out but stopping halfway "But we can't." It hurt. I only realized that these intense feelings for Jungkook were actually ones of love, but here we are now. "Hey," he said cupping my face and I lean into his palm, his thumb stroking my cheek "Let's just forget about it, hm?" he whispered trying to stop my tears. "It's whatever. We can just be friends," he added, but I shook my head "No... I want you to be something else," I whispered. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight chest, "I won't love them," I told him, clinging onto his shirt, "You don't have to," he mumbled into the top of my head. But what scared me, what scared me the most, is that Jungkook will fall in love with another, and then he will no longer be at my side, even as my knight.
"Don't... Please don't... Please don't be in love with someone else," I said muffled into his shirt, his hand caresses the back of my head "I won't," he promised without hesitation. He takes my cheeks between his hands so I can look at me "No other girls exist in this world for me. If you see me talking to one, know that I'm talking about you. If you see me walking next to someone, I'm wishing it was you. You're the only one for me." I swallow thickly "I don't believe you," I whispered and he exhaled out his nose "How can I make you believe me?" he questioned, his hands sliding down my cheeks to my neck, almost like he knew what I was going to ask him. "Kiss me," I whispered and I almost was afraid he didn't hear me because he made no move His lips touched mine, heat rising from my stomach to my chest, the smell of him hypnotic beyond reason. My eyes fluttered shut as I parted my lips, he felt like warm sunlight against my mouth, leaving my toes curling, unfurling all my senses as the taste of him nearly silenced all thoughts. My whole body tingled, like nothing I ever expected. The feeling of his frame leaning on me as his arms wrapped around me felt forbidden. He pulled me in claiming my mouth again, hungry and intense, until my knees gave in. By the time I became aware of my fingers, they had already slipped under his shirt, his skin smooth, firm, and radiating heat. It was as if time stopped right here, with us glued to one another. As if no one else existed and there was no risk of my parents catching us.
This had been building up for years and it was worth every second. I wanted more. "I have waited," he murmured against my swollen lips "My whole life for this." And then he kissed m again. The deep kind of kisses that left little room for thought. There was only feeling and wanting. That was it. I stepped closer, telling him what I wanted with soft moans. Our kisses slowed, becoming tender and infinitely more. It was like we were getting to know each other on an intimate level. I was breathless and dazed, unprepared for all of this, but my body ached for more than just kisses and touching- for more of him. And I knew he did too. His powerful body shook like mine. It was easy to get lost in him, lost in this connection between us. The world- the universe- ceased to exist.
We spent the day in the garden, stealing kisses behind rose bushes, lingering touches in the hedge maze and it only made my want for him grow. We were sitting on the edge of the fountain, our shoulders brushing against each other when Mina walked out "Your family has been looking for you," she said before side eying Jungkook "Perhaps you need someone who has his eyes on everything else and not just you," she added before spinning on her heels. Jungkook sighed before standing up and then holding his hand out to me. This would have to be the most innocent of contact we'd have today, but my cheeks flushed all the same as I placed my hand in his. He pulled me up to my feet and the lead me out of the garden, opening the door, allowing me to walk in first.
Our hands part and he takes his place walking behind me as I head towards the throne room. That's usually where my parents are, and when we arrived there apparently everyone else. Jungkook walked over toward the other guards and I walked to the throne where my father sat "What's going on?" I whispered sitting in my chair beside him. "A prince from the neighboring kingdom has come to join us today," my father explained, my mother looking over at me from her chair on the other side of my father "He requested our presence. Mina took long enough to find you," she said. Our town crier blew in his horn causing everyone in the room to silence "Prince Camil from Arodite," he said before bowing, his hands in the direction of a prince who could've been Jungkook's age, maybe older.
He bowed in front of my family, "Please rise," my father said with a slight chuckle "No need for such formalities," he added. My father had always been an easy going type of ruler, which is why his people loved him, and other kings hated him. We needed all the royal allies we could get, which is why my father made a point to be extra friendly towards them. The man rose and looked directly at me, his eyes scanning over me. I blushed feeling as if he could tell my lips were kissed swollen, so I looked towards my father. "What can we do for you? I feel like we haven't seen you for several balls now," my father said and the young man laughed "I've been busy with our military, but when I heard your daughter was of age for marriage. I knew I had to be the first in line."
"I ask for your daughters hand in marriage," the prince said shocking no one, but me, my eyes widen as I look between my father and the prince, neither of them looking to me for my opinion despite me being the one who is asked. "Well... I see no need to object," my father said pondering out loud, my eyes dart to Jungkook who was across the room, equally as shocked as I was, neither of us expecting a proposal, especially so soon. "I promise to give your daughter the world," the prince added for good measure. Jungkook's eyes met mine and I silently begged him to do something and he gave me a look back as if what can I do. Tears welled in my eyes as I felt myself losing control of the entire situation. The kingdom was taken over with excitement, they have been waiting for a royal wedding since my eighteenth birthday.
From the outside, I tried to make it seem as though I was keeping it together. But there was pain in my chest, bleeding out into every part of my body causing my knees to shake. But I smile, grit my teeth and push through it, thanking everyone for their congratulations. It felt like every cell in my body is moving so fast the my veins are blurry. Despite the constant metronome of my heartbeat inside my ears it's like I'm listening to a spastic drumline. It feels like bees are stuck in my ears, like a broken white noise machine that plays all the sound at once. I don't even realize I am grinding my teeth. I leave the throne room, my own two feet adding to the atomic loud abyss of noises and sounds giving me the feeling of fleeting to come rushing through my veins.
I avoid eye contact as I push through the crowd towards the door. I wasn't intentionally ignoring people's comments, but I couldn't hear a word they said over my own voice in my head. My palms are sweating and I knew in a few moments the water would leak from my eyes. My skin felt unexplainably hot and rash and frustrating. I taste iron in my mouth as I gnaw the inside of my cheek, as if the solution to my problems were somewhere between my teeth and gums. It feels like drowning but it feels like burning and it feels like it'll last forever. I imagine my feet moving so fast that they leave trails of dust behind them, because somehow I'm moving faster than the sixty seconds that make up a minute. And none of it added up like my father had taught me. I can't subtract the one and find the square root of the problem. There is no life or death situation, just the life of a royal woman.
The door swings closed behind me and my legs give out causing me to fall dramatically to the floor. My hands catch me before my face can come close to the ground, but I could see where my tears began splattering on the concrete. I pound my fist against the floor, sending a pain up my arm, "It's unfair," I whispered before pounding my other fist against the ground, but the relief was fleeting. Both of my fists were now pounding against the ground as I started repeating that sentence over and over. I knew it wasn't very ladylike, or royal for that matter, but none of the servants said anything, just continued to walk by as if I wasn't even there. My skin was turning red, but my pounding against the ground had gotten softer as I was getting drained of energy.
I felt a hand touch my back and and swing my arm back, hitting their arm away with my wrist as I turn to face them, only to see the sad smile on Jungkook's lips. I threw my arms around his neck, crying into his neck as his hand comes to my lower back, as well as my head. "It'll be fine, Princess," he promised but I shook my head side to side "I'll have to leave the palace, the kingdom, my family... you," I cried holding on tighter to him "It's not fair, I don't even get a word," I added. He hugged me to his chest before standing up, pulling me to my feet "You're the strongest person I know," he said pulling back to wipe the tears off my cheeks, "Anywhere you go you will be fine," he added, his eyes begging me to believe him "Not without you, I won't."
The door pushes open and my fiancé walked in, his eyes quickly narrow with jealousy and Jungkook stiffens back like the other knights, his arms at his sides, the warmth of his hands leaving me. He stared forward against the wall "I'm her body guard," he said as if to explain, "You seem a little too close for my liking," my fiancé replied putting his arm around my shoulder, pulling me into his side. "I don't want to see you near her again," my fiancé said and I open my mouth to protest but Jungkook gives me a look as if to stay silent "As you wish," Jungkook replied looking directly at my fiancé. He turned to leave the two of us, and I had to hold my own hands to keep from reaching out to him "Mr. Knight... If I see you near the princess again I'll have your head," my fiancé called but Jungkook just walked out the door.
"Stay away from him," my fiancé told me coldly, but I shrugged his arm off me, and pushed his side so he'd fall away from him. "You have no control over me," I said strongly and the man chuckled "Darling, you are to be my wife, your life is mine now," he old me, twirling a piece of my hair around his finger. I turn to head out the door Jungkook went, but he grabs my wrist before I could get too far "Your mother said you'd be a handful but I wasn't expecting this," he grumbled before tugging me behind him "Good thing she gave me these," he said holding out a set of keys. They were to the tower. To my room. I felt tears well in my eyes. I wanted to fight him, not wanting to be locked in that tower again, but fighting him seemed useless.
He shoved me into my room and locked the door "This isn't fair!" I cried pounding my fist against the wooden door "Only let me in," my fiancé said and one of his guards replied with a yes sir. I pound on the door for what feels like hours, pleading for the knight to let me out, asking why they were treating the princess of this kingdom like a prisoner. For the next three days I'm only allowed out of my room when I am with the prince I was to marry. We walked along the gardens, he spoke of his kingdom, and what our grand wedding was to be like, I looked around for any sign of Jungkook. He still didn't trust me on my own, locking me back in my room when he had other things to attend too. I begged to meet with my father, but my request fell on deaf ears, a door shut in my face.
"You really should speak when being spoken to," the prince said annoyed and I turned my head to look at him, usually he is able to be quite civil if I agree to walk with him, even if I don't generally respond but tonight he looked a bit drunk "We're to be married," he said running his fingers through his hair. He seemed to be thinking, a smirk coming to his lips, "I guess I should try another way to win your heart," he said. He grabbed my face between his hands and pressed his lips against mine. His hands were rough and his lips were chapped and his tongue tasted of ale. It was nothing sweet, nothing romantic, more like an assertion of dominance. I push way from him and use the back of my arm to wipe off his spit, "You'll learn to love it," he said fixing his shirt before taking my elbow "Let's enjoy our night," he said.
Thankfully he didn't try to kiss me again for the rest of the night, and this time the person guarding the door was from our kingdom. Relief floods me "Sir-" "Nick, did the queen send you? My two men were getting quite tired," the prince cuts me off, and despite the sorry look in his eyes he nodded his head "Perfect," the prince said pushing me towards him. Nick catches me before I can fall but he gently places me into my room "I'm sorry, princess," he whispered before pulling he door closed, the sound of the lock turning the deadbolt. I heard them exchange a few words and then the sound of heavy boots. The next thing I knew a book slide under the crack of the door, and I picked it up to find it was from one of the author's in town.
I relax on my bed, using the last bit of light from the sky to read a few chapters, allowing myself to escape my reality. It was getting dark when I heard angered hushed voices. I closed my book and walked over to the door, pressing my ear against it "Jungkook the prince will have your head if he sees you, get out of here," Sir Nick told him, "I thought I convinced myself that nothing would ever happen, so I thought it as okay to just let go," Jungkook sounded panicked. I wanted to scream at him for being an idiot, but I worried what my voice would do. "She was so hot that you couldn't help yourself after she became legal-" "No," Jungkook snapped cutting him off "It's not like that." Nick chuckled "What's it like then?" he asked quietly.
"I fucking love her," Jungkook hissed, my heart thrashing in my ribs. I have to place a hand over my mouth to keep the noises from falling out. "I fell in fucking love with her. It hurt to be away from Y/n at bootcamp. Everything fucking hurt, and I didn't want that pain anymore. I fucking couldn't." he inhales deeply "It only became unbearable when I knew the prince wanted her and I wouldn't get to stand by her side." I don't know how long they stand in silence "I know, more than anyone, how painful it is watching someone yo love be with another person. But you can't love her-" "I've known her since I was fifteen years old," Jungkook told him "I've spent so much fucking time with her, Nick. We've been through a lot together, so yes, I fell in love with her."
I don't even realize the door unlocks and opened until I'm swept up in Jungkook's arms and he carries me back into the room. The door slams closed with a hard thud and Jungkook sets me down, his hands coming to my face "Are you alright? Has he hurt you?" he questioned while wiping my tears away. I shake my head no, and that's when I notice the tears of his own. "I've loved you. Always," he said "I was just too worried that we'd get into a mess and there'd be trouble for you. There's a seventeen year old boy, holding a letter he wrote to you, and if he could, he'd send it to tell you this all over again." My hands fist his shirt and pull him into me, our lips crashing into each other somewhere in the middle.
He immediately withdrew, his brows crossed with concern. It was a look that almost made me want to seep into the stone floor and disappear. He noticed "I'm sorry," he said thickly, trying not to look ashamed "I- I can't. I mean, You're getting married to a prince in a week or so..." I really wish he'd stop blabbing. I pull him back down to kiss me again, this time he growls, as if to scold me, but his lips and hands have a mind of their own. He lifted me up, his hands on my bum, carrying me over to my bed. He dips me down until I am pressed against the mattress all while never breaking the kiss.
His tongue darts out and sneaks between my lips. The feeling is so exquisite that I'm instantly greedy for more. Hesitantly, I open my mouth and our tongues touch for the first time and it is sheer bliss. I moan as I'm filled with the taste of him, pressed up to every inch of him. He kisses me fiercely like his life depends on it and I try to keep up. I push his hand down to where my butt meets my thigh, and pull his other hand from my ribs to the side of my breasts. His lips fall from mine with a shaky breath, he looked like he was about to pass out. "I want to have sex with you," I whispered into the night, "And I was hoping you'd participate a little more." After a while he finally said something "I'd participate so well, you wouldn't walk straight the next day." it came out more of a growl.
I hear footsteps pass. I'm my room, or should I say jail cell, betrothed to another, yet Jungkook has his hands on me. Too bold for my own good, I lift my hand over his and press my fingertips into my cleavage "Walking is overrated," I whispered. Whatever control he had over himself slips slightly, his hand regaining its autonomy. He strokes my body over my dress and I shiver "Princess... I can't defile you. He's a prince," Jungkook replied pulling back, he was now standing at the edge of the bed I was laying on. That was enough to bring tears to my eyes "I hate him. I don't care if he thinks I'm defiled. I hate any man that isn't you," I said untying the stupid dress the prince had gotten me, letting it fall onto the ground, leaving me in nothing but my slip.
I could see the bulge in his pants and his eyes were doing the most to keep his gaze on my face, not what was under my silken slip which was basically see through. I turn around to face the wall, my cheeks burning as I slowly pull my slip over my head, letting it pool around my ankles. I look over my shoulders to see he had given up, his eyes drifting over every inch of exposed skin until they met mine. "Y/n," he warned but I loved the sound of my name coming from his lips, not my title, not someone else's property, just Y/n, his Y/n. I turn around to face him and he inhales a shaky breath. "We don't have time," he whispered stepping towards me, "No, we don't," I agreed. He crawled over me, slotted between my legs, and my arms wrapped around his shoulders, "I'm glad we're on the same page." Not another word was uttered between us.
I felt him nudge my entrance causing my breath to hitch, and I bit down on my lip. "Lower your legs," he demanded and I did as he instructed, his hands burning against my skin "Just a little-there. That's perfect." He returned his lips to mine "You're perfect." I go to speak but my words ended with a cry that he captured with his lips. He filled me, stretching me until I wasn't sure if this position would work. Or if I wouldn't work. I'd never done this with anyone. I haven't even read about it in book. But I held on, my fingernails digging into his skin as he kept sinking into me, deeper and deeper until there was no space between our bodies. Jungkook dropped his forehead to my shoulder with a hiss, his hand running up and down my shaking body. His arm had gone under my head, holding himself up and he finally looks at me "You okay?" he rasped, lips brushing mine "Love." My heart ached.
I nodded, easing my grip on his shoulders. I rub my hand over his chest and over his neck, realizing he needed help calming down as I did. His eyes were flooded with emotion and I nodded my head again. He pulls out slightly before sinking back in. It burns. He continues the motion, pulling out a little further each time before sinking back in, taking his time to drag himself across my walls. His lips found my neck, kissing and nipping at my sensitive skin. Something ignited withing me. I could feel it starting in my core, slowly inching it's way to my extremities. His firm body pressed against my curves, his hand that brushed over the side of my breast, the thrust of his hips slapping mine only caused the feeling to grow quicker.
Every thrust, every sweet whisper, every pleasuring kiss of his was my undoing. I whimpered into his shoulder as everything slipped, the orgasm washing over me as I came. He rides it out before pulling himself out of me, his hand catching his penis, jerking it off until he's biting back a moan, his cum leaking out of the tip. He uses a cloth to clean himself off, pulling up his pants, zipping himself away. He picks up my slip and pulls it over my head. He presses a kiss to my forehead before walking towards my vanity, picking up my brush. He gently brushes my hair and it only make me feel more sleepy. He helped me under the covers and climbed in there with me. I collapsed into his chest. I prayed to tall the gods out there that I could remain right here in is arms. That I have to, that I need to. Forever. This is where I belonged.
He moved so we were laying against the pillow, facing each other. His fingers traced a path down my cheeks, my nose, my ears, my neck, finally over my lips. "I love you," he whispered with so much passion behind those words, I could feel it when his lips pressed against mine. I snuggled into his chest, and he held me close. "I love you too," I whispered into his chest and he held me tighter, as if someone was trying to force me to let go. Exhaustion took over me and I could no longer hold my eyes open. He brushed his fingers over my skin and instead of starting a fire in their wake, they calmed me down like it was laced with chamomile tea. I woke up hugging my comforter to my chest, any trace of Jungkook gone, besides the ache between my legs.
The door unlocked and my soon to be husband walked in, eying me over "You just woke up?" he questioned and I nod, still feeling light from last night. "Your mother requests to see you," he told me and I sighed pulling on my dress from yesterday before following him out of my room. Neither of us said anything, he wasn't his usual cocky self, it's almost as if he were nervous, that made me nervous but I knew better than to run. He motioned to the study "She's waiting," he said motioning for me to hurry up. I walked into the study and the door slammed behind me, I whirl around to grab the handle and try to get out but the bolt locks "What's going on here!" I shouted slamming my hand against the door "I'm sorry darling," regret laced his voice, but his footsteps disappeared.
"Well, Well, Well," that voice sent a shiver down my spine, "I told you some day your mother would pass on her fate," he said as I turned around to see him. The man I saw my mother with all those years ago "What is this?" I tried to remain confident but my les were shaking. "You see, the young prince didn't have the best reputation, but for a fair trade I was able to help him," he said and I grind my teeth "What trade?" I asked between my teeth "If you become his wife, I get to be your first," he said causing tears to well in my eyes. Men were disgusting "No such thing is happening," I said stepping back until I was against the door "Who's going to stop me?" he questioned grabbing me with his large hands, I shake out of his grip but he rips my dress. "Things don't have to be so rough if you relax," he huffed trying to untie my dress, I fall to the ground and he huffed "Behave."
I stood up and he grabbed my wrist to pull me against his chest, but I take off my heel ad whack him in the temple with my heel. He stumbled over, releasing my wrist and I run to the window, opening it as quickly as I could "You dumb bitch!" he said coming up quickly behind me "Jungkook!" I shouted out the opening but I couldn't get anything else out before he slammed the window shut, the back of his hand coming down on my cheek causing me to fall. I felt dizzy, my face stinging, "Stop fighting," he said pulling me dress down, "No." I kick him and he stumbled backwards his eyes glaring at me, "I will never stop fighting you," I said with tears in my eyes. I grabbed my other heel and tossed it at his head, but he smacked it away "I tried being nice."
He walked over, climbed on top of me, his knees on either side of my ribs, my arms pinned down under his knees. "Stop!" I shout trying to wiggle out but he was heavy, and his hands were against my chest "This is sexual assault." I tried but he just chuckles "Big words from a child," he sighed. We heard a pounding against the door "What's this?" he growled getting up to investigate and suddenly the door breaks off the hinges and Jungkook charged in like an angry bull. I sat up "Jungkook-" my voice dies out when the man glares at me, but it didn't take anything to set off Jungkook. He tackled the man to the ground, even though he threatened him with his title, but Jungkook was seeing red as his fists take turns bashing into the sides of his face "You. Fucking. Piece. Of. Shit." I heard more footsteps coming and I worried what people would think of this scene.
"Fuck, Kook calm down." It took three other soldiers to pull Jungkook off of him and he was still trying to break free and get after him, like a dog who's starved. "Where's Y/n?" I heard my father's voice, I reached out to pull my dress back up, I then stood up "Father?" I said walking towards the doorway. I could see the way his heart broke when he looked at me, and embarrassment flooded my system, I couldn't look him in the eyes. I looked down at the ground as my eyes watered "I'm sorry," I whimpered. I felt gentle hands caress me, every muscle tensed, but when he pulled me to his chest I melted. "I wish I was faster," he whispered into the top of my head. I buried my face into his chest, to hide from everyone the tears that were falling. "Jungkook, get her out of here. You three take him," my father ordered in his kingly voice. Jungkook's arms lifted me up under my knees, one behind my back, cradling me and then he walked, I didn't care where we went as long as it was away.
I only open my eyes when I felt the sun against my skin. He carried me outside in the garden, over to the fountain. He sat me down, kneeling down in front of me in order to look at my face "Are you okay?" he asked and I shrugged my shoulders. He reached up and wiped the tears off my cheeks "I've got you, hm?" he begged and when I looked at him he had tears in his eyes, "I'm never letting you go anywhere without me," he promised taking one of my hands in his, he kissed the back of it and it tickled. He moved to sit next to me, thighs pressed against each other and I leaned into him. This seemed to ease him, his arm coming around me, pulling me into his side "Only you," I whispered, "hm?" he brought his head to mine "Only you," I repeated.
I look up at him "Jungkook it can only be you. It would not be fair to anyone else. I don't have room," I clench my chest "There's no room in my heart for anyone beside you. My thoughts all lead back to you, my hand reaches for you." I felt the tears well in my eyes but for a different reason now, "Princess-" "Y/n, call me Y/n," I begged and he cupped my cheek, thumb brushing over my cheek to catch my tears "Y/n, I don't deserve the honor," he tried to reason with me but I couldn't take it right now "You want me and I want you, what more to love is there?" I cried letting my forehead fall against his bicep. Usually this is the part where Jungkook swept me into his arms to comfort me, but he remained stiff beside me.
"Sweetheart?" I heard my father's voice, so I bit back my sob, sniffling hard before lifting my head to look at him. Based on his face I couldn't tell how much he had hear of what I said, "I need you to explain what happened in there," he said calmly and I nodded "The prince told me mother wanted to see me in the study, he locked me in there with the Duke. Turns out the prince's hands weren't the cleanest, so the Duke made sure he seemed perfectly polished... In exchange for getting my hand, the prince decided to give my flower..." I felt embarrassed having to explain this to my father "The Duke was going to sexually assault me," I said causing Jungkook to stiffen beside me, almost as if he wanted to run and beat the man unconscious a second time. My father nodded his hand "Alright," he said his eyebrows furrowed "I've been confined to my room for weeks, unless I was with the prince, with mother's help," I added.
"I'm sorry," my father said kneeling before me, "I think I have failed you," he said choking up as he took my hand "My sweet girl." he pressed a kiss to it. I sighed "I don't think I should be in mother's keep," I told him honestly, even though it felt like rocks to spit out and he nodded in agreement "Also Mina should be excused from the house, mother was prepping her for my failure," I added, trying to remain civil. "I shall see it done," my father said standing, but he did not go anywhere, "I will take over picking your husband, it seems your mother unfit," he said lifting his crown to run his fingers through his hair. As relieved I was to know my mother was no long in charge, I just wished that the control was mine, so I could chose who I wanted to love.
My father left us long ago. I stayed near the fountain, dragging my fingers through the water causing it to ripple. Jungkook had been doing laps around the fountain. He stopped in front of me and I turned my head to look at him, but he wasn't looking at me, just basking in the sun, letting the light kiss his skin. His brown eyes glinting under the light. But there was something on his mind. I could tell. I got up to stand next to him "Is everything alright?" I asked placing my hand on his arm. Only then did he look at me. "Come here." In a swift motion, he had me tucked against his chest. He squeezed me, swaying us. "Better. Now, everything is much better." I couldn't disagree with him. Anything that involved touching Jungkook was far better than anything else.
"Can I request something selfish?" he whispered into my shoulder, my heart skipped a beat with worry "Sure." He took a deep breath "Can you be mine for now?" he asked and I almost couldn't believe the words left his mouth "Let me have you until then," he added pulling back to look at me. I could see the seriousness on his face, he truly meant what he said and as much as I wanted him to give in, a part of me worried. If we were caught. If my parents knew, it wouldn't be me who takes the blame. My life would be spared, but his... His lips found mine. Pulling me out of my head, he looked back towards me with this predatory look in his eyes.
My heart begins to pound. I stood there, feeling a desire run from my heart, to my chest, and down toward my inner thighs. His finger touched my neck, and the hair as it was moved away nearly gave me the chills. His hands went from the sides of my head and down to my neck, out to my shoulders and down to my hands. He grabbed my hands gently yet firm, put them in front of me and paused. I felt safe, he spoke no words. My heart is about to beat out of my chest and I close my eyes and take a deep breath out. He kisses my shoulder, and runs his lips on my skin towards my ear, but doesn't quite make it that far. I tilt my head and after his deep breath out he bites me gently. It doesn't hurt, it only makes me want more.
He stares into my eyes and smiles. His two hands grab my left hand and he places my open palm on his heart, and he holds it there. His eyes exude love, protection, security, safety, patience, and respect. I smile and he lets go of my hands, with one hand he runs his fingers through my hair and gently guides my face closer to his, eventually leaning me in to rest my head on his chest. His other arm wraps around me, I hope he never lets go. Our love was forbidden but he would risk his life for it because without it he had no life. "Alright," whispered into his shirt, "Until then," I added, hoping that then would get lost somewhere far beyond forever.
We spent our time between the garden and the study. It wasn't too different from how things were before, but it was warm and real and bright and the air had somehow shifted. All at once, everything looked different, now that we had given into ourselves. I had changed into my night clothes, and Jungkook was walking me back to my room. Instead of holding his hand, I rested my hands against his back, feeling his strong muscles flex under my hand. I wished I could run my hands over every inch of his skin. He opened my room door and I walked in, in the safety and privacy of my room. I spun around to look at him, and he was still standing in the doorway, not coming in, almost as if he was too tempted.
"Jungkook," I whispered holding my arms out, he hesitates, checking down the hallway before stepping into the room. Once the door shuts behind him he rushes to me, his hands finding my waist, my hands resting on his chest "Yes?" he questioned with a lump in his throat, looking down at me. I smiled before pushing him down to sit on the bed, I climb into his lap, my thighs on either side of his legs "Y/n," he warned, eyes glancing from me to the door then back to me. As nervous as his shifting eyes were, his hands had moved from my waist, to splay across my bare thighs, since my slip had slid up when I sat in his lap. I wrap my arms around his neck, crossing my wrists behind his head, and then I start moving my hips. He tenses up, his eye wide, internally have a fight with himself.
I rest my forehead against his, a soft sigh escaping my lips. His hands find my waist and he lifts me off his lap ever so slightly, only to set me back down on one of his thighs. I slid my core along his strong thigh, soaking his pants with my wetness. I opened my eyes to look at him, his cheeks red, his lost in lust, as I desperately grind against him. He flexes his leg beneath me and I moan, but he silences me with a kiss, his hands pulling me closer and pushing me away, pushing his thigh up slightly, adding pressure to my clit. His hands slid under my slip, bare hands against my back, my slip pooling around his wrists. He breaks the kiss to remove my slip, letting it fall to the ground before his hands find my hips once again, his lips against my neck "I want you inside me," I whispered, rubbing against him was great, but I knew it could be better.
I run my hands down his shoulders to his chest, my hands sliding down his abdomen, to the waistline of his pants. I look him in the eyes "Tell me to stop," I said while popping the button his his pants open. He swallows thickly as my hand dips in his pants, he feels hot and heavy in my hand as I pull him out. I move back over him, my breasts inches from his face, his hands sliding over my bum. I lead him to my entrance, before sinking down on him. We both lose our breaths as I settle around him. He always left me so full, stretching me out in the most delicious way. I used the muscles in my thighs to lift myself up before sinking back down. Whatever was holding Jungkook back seemed to disappear as his hands travel every inch of skin, his mouth on my chest, kissing, licking, biting, driving me crazy.
I continue to rock up and down, even though my legs are tired and felt like jelly. I place my hands on his shoulders, using him to continue up and down on him. I felt the knot tighten in my core, seconds from exploding. His fingers drew lazy circles into my clit and I had to bit down on my tongue to keep myself from screaming. "Baby, you've got to get off," Jungkook said, his voice gruff, his hands now on my hips trying to lift me up but I just slammed back down on him "I want to feel you cum," I whispered bringing my lips to his neck "W-we can't," he stained voice let me know he was close "Who's here to stop us," I questioned kissing down his throat. I felt his hands loosen and he let's himself get swept up in pleasure as I bounce on his lap.
I feel him twitch and the next thing I knew I was filled with warm liquid. I pull back to look at him, his eyes blow out, like he had the best orgasm of his life. It was brief before they swelled with panic, "Shit," he cursed before rolling over so I was laying against the bed, he pulled out of me and I whimpered at the empty feeling. He rushed into the bathroom before coming back with my hand towel, he cleans my thighs and my more intimate parts, trying to make it completely dry. I chuckled at him "I think you got it," I said closing my thighs so he no longer could see it. He stood up, zipping his pants up, before running his fingers through his hair "Shit," he said again and his face was dark. Suddenly my heart dropped and I sat up "Jungkook?" I whispered but the noise inside his head was louder.
I felt tears well in my eyes "Jungkook," I said more firm and he looked at me "Are you mad?" I whispered feeling my throat close, he softens and walked over to kneel on the ground in front of me. "Mad. No," he whispered before pressing a kiss to my thigh "Worried. Scared. Yeah," he said looking up at me, "Princess, you could get pregnant," he said as if I didn't know. I reach out to cup his cheek "And?" I asked stroking his cheek "You're the princess, I'm a lowly knight, we're not even married," he listed off standing up. I stood on the bed wrapping my arms around his shoulders, his hands finding purchase at my waist "It's an if, Jungkook," I remind him and he sighed "No reason to get worked up over a chance," I added.
I pull him to my bed "My mother took seven years to bear my father his first child... Me," I explained and he seemed somewhat relieved but still wary. "And they have yet to have a second," I added rubbing his shoulders and he nodded, "I know, you're right," he said running his hands over my hips. He lifted his head from my chest "You should sleep," he said and I sighed before letting go of him and climbing under the covers. He pulled them up higher to my chin "I love you," he whispered, I reach up and stroking his cheek "I love you too," I replied with my heart fluttering.
**
It wasn't just the nauseous feeling, bile was already rising up my throat. I turn right and start running down the hall "Y/n," Jungkook called following me, I push the bathroom door open and fall to my knees as I heave into the toilet. Jungkook was at my side, holding my hair back, his hand running up and down my back soothingly. I didn't even have to look at him to know the kind of face he was making, it was the same as mine. I slowly turn my head to look at him, and he is wide eyed and pale. I felt tears well in my eyes "I'm sorry," I whispered and he shook his head no "It's alright," he said reaching out to stroke my cheek. I feel them flow over and my head starts to sink down "Hey, no, Y/n," he said pulling me into his chest. He gives me a chaste kiss on the top of my head "I'm here, hm," he added, I could hear the anxiety in his voice.
"Let's get married," I said into his chest, he sighed "We couldn't convince them," he whispered and I looked up at him "We will just tell my father I'm pregnant," I cried and I heard someone clearing their throat and that's when I saw my mother, disgust on her features. "No child of mine will be known a whore," she said, her words like a slap to my face. "I know a woman," she started as Jungkook pulled me from the floor "She has no tongue, illiterate, but she knows a woman's body. She'll take care of that thing," she said and my hand rested on my stomach "N-no," I whimpered, she shook her head, already made her decision "Mother knows best," she snipped before glaring daggers at the boy beside me "You're banished, get out of here. I knew you were trouble when you walked in," she said.
I move to fight her, but Jungkook grabbed my wrist to stop me, "I have a letter to send. My guess is she'll come in three months time," she said before walking off. I looked at Jungkook "This child was made from love," I told him and he turned to me "I'm going to have to leave," he said and it felt like a bullet to the heart. He catches my face in his hands "But I'm going to come back," he said but it didn't make me feel better "I've saved up quite a bit. I'll go and then come back for you," he explained and I furrowed my eyebrows "W- we'll run away?" I questioned, it would be dangerous because they would label him as a kidnapper, of the highest degree. He'd be killed on sight, "I love you," he said pulling me from my thoughts, "I love y-" his lips covered mine. I melt into him and his bold display of affection, "You have three months," I remind him and he nodded his head "I know."
I stood beside my mother as Jungkook left the kingdom walls with a large backpack, a sword and his gun. The next few months I remained at my mother's side, she did not trust me to be on my own, that's what she told me. She introduced me to several suitors during the time, hoping that I could be married after she gets rid of the baby. The baby. It was my only piece of Jungkook, the only thing that reminded me he was here and just a ghost of a memory. My mother told me that the woman had arrived to the kingdom and fear struck me, it physically ailed me. I was laid up in bed with a fever after breakfast. One of my handmaids came in with a cool washcloth to dab away at the sweat on my brow.
"Reach into my pocket," she whispered, in my near delirious state I almost thought I heard things "What?" I questioned and she shushed me "There's a note in my pocket," she repeated, the whole time dabbing at my face. I reach into the front pocket of her apron and pull out a small piece of paper, and I open it to find a handwriting I recognize instantly. My heart fluttered and I looked towards her "Thank you," I whispered, hiding the note with the letter under my pillow. I push myself to sit "Princess, be careful," she whispered before leaving the room, Jungkook was back, just outside the wall. I force myself out of bed and found my satchel, packing my favorite book, my letters from Jungkook, a few rare jewelry items.
The next day my mother and I travel to the outskirts of the city. We step out of the carriage and I tell my mother to go ahead, I needed to use the bathroom, she rolled her eyes and told me to hurry heading into the building without another thought. I walk around back towards where the bathrooms were, but pass them to head to the wall. I sneak through the knights quarters to outside the wall. It's the furthest I've been from the castle. I head towards the road and that's where I see Jungkook, he looked older and somehow even more buff. I ran and he didn't say anything as he turned around. I flung myself into his arms and he caught me spinning around. "I've missed you," I whispered into his shoulder, he keeps the reunion short, setting me down before climbing onto his horse's back.
He holds out his hand and I take it. He pulled me up into his lap before leading the horse to turn around and run. I curl up against his chest, missing the feeling of him beneath my fingers, hearing him breath, and the beating of his heart, inhaling his scent. Neither of us say anything and I watch as the place I lived my whole life disappear behind us. The kingdom was nearly out of view when trumpets were sounding. Jungkook veered off the road and through the forest. The sun was long gone by the time Jungkook decided to stop. He hopped off the horse and helped me down before tying up the horse. As excited as I was to be back with Jungkook, he still had yet to say a word to me. He collected a few sticks and logs, piled them before lighting the small fire.
I moved closer to the fire, letting the warm light seep into my skin. I move to sit down "Princess-" I shoot him a look and he cleared his throat "Y/n, I have something for you to lay on," he said carrying over a sleeping bag. He laid it out for me and I sat down on it "You're going to have to start using my name," I reminded him and he nodded his head "I know," he muttered. It was awkward. I turn my head to look away from him, tears welling in my eyes, a habit that I've picked up recently. I thought our reunion was be a little more romantic than this, I literally have been counting the days before we'd meet again.
I lay down on the blanket, pulling it over my shoulder. I closed my eyes, hoping that the ride had taken enough energy out of me so I could fall asleep. Thanks to my pregnancy just existing seems to exhaust me. It didn't matter is was cold outside, and there were creepy noises all around and the horse smelled awful. I fell asleep. The moon was high in the sky, and the fire was nothing but coals and ashes when I woke up due to discomfort. This had become quite regular for me. I move a little and that's when I realized I was wrapped up in someone's arms, a firm chest against my back. His arms move from under my breasts, his hands sliding over the small bump in my abdomen, resting on the underside of my stomach.
"I've been gone," Jungkook whispered, so softly I had to strain to hear him, "I debated on never coming back. I can't give her anything close to what she's used to, what she deserves." For a moment I was trying to figure out who he was talking to, but when his thumb strokes over my bump I realize he's talking to our child. "I told myself that if she told me to disappear, I would leave into the wilderness alone," he said pressing his lips to my shoulder, "I want to say I am an honorable knight, someone who keeps his word, but I would've begged. I would've begged on my knees for her to come with me. I have loved her since we were kids. She's just so loveable, she's my princess. She will never know just how beautiful she is to me."
"I was terrified when I first saw her, but I saw the shine in her eyes when they landed on me. The way she ran to my arms filled my heart. She loved me back. Still loved me. I don't have the words to describe how it feels to be loved by the person you love the most." He went silent and for a second I wondered if he had fallen asleep. "You're just a small bump unborn, in six months you'd be brought to life. You might be left with my hair, but you'll have your mother's eyes. I hope you have a smile like hers with dimples pressed into your cheeks." I ignore the tears that had been falling since I woke in his arms "In six months you'll be born and then I'll hold you in my hands, be as gentle as I can, but right now, your just a bump unplanned and I'm terrified."
I had thought Jungkook regretted his choice to come back and get me, he had been so quiet, but he was worried for the future and I couldn't blame him. "I can't give much." his voice reached my skin like a caress. Pushing my hear to bang against my chest walls, "Shell always have me." his thumb caressed my stomach "She doesn't know it yet, but she's stuck with me." I couldn't not look over at him. After all that, I couldn't not want to search his handsome face. I allowed myself to turn and his eyes move to meet mine. Trying to get my heart under control I peer into his dark brow eyes. I could find all the emotions behind his words in his eyes, radiating off his gaze. Raw honesty. Conviction. Faith. Reliance. A pledge.
"Why were you so quiet before?" I whispered and he sighed bringing one hand up to my cheek "I had so many things to say, but with you right in front of me it seem as if I lost all the words I knew. I was going to tell you as soon as I saw you... I was going to tell you that I love you, but we didn't have time and I know things with us had been super complicated-" "Kook-" "But I love you. Sorry I was so quiet-" "Jungkook-" "I missed you. I've missed you so much you can't begin to comprehend how much. I didn't want to leave you. I kept trying to talk myself out of going, but you didn't ask me to stay and it would've been dangerous for all of us." I pressed my forehead to his chin "I knew you'd come back."
"Sleep," he whispered his fingers slotting through my hair, his fingernails drag across my scalp and I sighed "I love you," I mumbled as exhaustion took over me once again. I snuggle into his chest, surrounding the two of us in warmth. I fell asleep but then it feels like almost instantly Jungkook wakes me up, packing up our things and getting rid of the fire. By the time I was more awake he was pulling me up onto the back of the horse. We reach the other end of the forest and trot through a small village, everyone seemed as though they worked in some sort of farming, either plants or animals. Jungkook leads us into the nearby forest, the trail slowly disappearing beneath our feet.
We come to a river and Jungkook jumped off the back of the horse and walked to a nearby tree, untying a rope and then slowly he lowered a bridge. It was nothing fancy, just a few logs tied together. I grabbed the horse's reins and lead it across the bridge, around a few more trees there was a log cabin. It wasn't much, and the stable wasn't more than a roof next to the cabin. Jungkook helped me off the horse's back before leading it towards the stable, taking off the lead and saddle. I walked over towards the house pushing the door open to see it was a one room cabin. There was a fireplace on the furthest wall, a double bed next to it, a small makeshift kitchen and a small table. It was nothing compared to the life of luxury I had come from, but it had Jungkook and that's all I want.
Jungkook comes up behind me, his hand finding my waist "It's not much," he mumbled almost as if he was embarrassed "It's perfect Jungkook," I whispered placing my hand over his and leaning back into his strong frame. "I built what I could in the time-" my eyes widen and I spun around to look at him "You built this?" I asked grabbing his hands to inspect them, they were rough and calloused but nothing different than before "I'd take the stars out of the sky if you asked me to," he said getting me to lift my head and look at him. I love the way he is looking at me. It makes me feel more than just beautiful. I feel like I'm his. Like no one else could possibly compare to me. He doesn't even have to say the words. I see it in his eyes. I can practically read it in his mind.
And he's kissing me.
Deeply. Desperately. His hands are around my waist and he's breathing so hard and he hoists me up, into his arms and my legs wrap around his hips. He carries me through the front door, kissing my neck, my throat and he sets me down on the edge of the bed. He has one hand under my neck, the other under my dress and he's running his fingers up my back and suddenly his thigh is between my legs and his hand is slipping behind my knee and up, higher, pulling me closer and when he breaks the kiss I'm breathing so fast, my head spinning as I try to hold onto him. "Up," he said panting, and I look around the small home "Lift your arms up." I do. He tugs my dress. Pulls it over my head. Tosses it to the floor.
"Lie back." he said still breathing hard, guiding me onto the bed as his hands slide down my spine, under my backside. He unbuttons his pants. Unzips them. "Lift up your hips for me, love," and hooks his fingers around the hem of my panties. Tugging them down. I gasp. Lying on his bed- Our bed in absolutely nothing. His hands are moving up my legs and the insides of my thighs. He slides his hands up my waist, until he is now hovering over me. In a flash, his lips were on mine. I wrap my arms around him and pull him harder against my chest. I opened my mouth, lips parted, and he didn't hesitate to explore. I forgotten how addicted to him I had become. I couldn't resist him, and I didn't want to. "I can't think when you're around," his voice is rough. I gasp as he slips himself inside me.
He stills, as though he's in no hurry to start, but I can feel him moving in anticipation. The heel of his palm slides down to rest against my clit. "I can't think when you're not around. It's been a problem of mine. I feel like I haven't formulated a coherent thought in months. I feel like you wont stop being in my head-" He hadn't even moved yet, but my mind goes blank. The world recedes and I start coming without warning, arching against him, biting into my lip to silence a scream. Pleasure sinks into me, and I'm helpless to stop it. I don't know how long passed before I come back to myself, his eyes looking over me, a smirk on his lips "Did you just-?" he tilts his head to the side a sharp breath leaving his lips "Did you just come, just from me..." I'm dazed. My nerve endings are still tingling and embarrassment flushes my face "I-I am pregnant, and there's... Weird hormones," I said getting him to chuckle.
"Sure, Y/n," he said, desperate to keep whatever control he had, "Can... Can I?" I nodded my head, feeling him twitching inside me, every few seconds or so, and then he rolls his hips. Both of us sighing in relief. I wrap my arms tightly around him as he continued to thrust into me, I whimper every time his hips are flesh with mine. His lips attach themselves to my neck, his hands driving over the expanse of my skin and it wasn't long before he released himself within me. Both of us still, taking deep breaths in and after a while he pulled himself out, getting up from the bed. I push up on my elbows an look around the small cabin. There was a fireplace next to the bed, a table, two chairs, and a basin to hold water. That's all there was, but that was all we needed.
He helped me clean up before stretching his arms out "This is now home," he said, bringing one of his hands behind his head, rubbing the back of his neck "It's not much, but I plan to keep working on it," he explained. I got up and walked over to him, wrapping my arms around his neck, his arms coming around my lower back "Home is wherever you are," I informed him before leaning up on my toes to peck his lips. He sighed in relief "I got you some clothes," he said releasing me. He was to the side of the bed and knelt down to pull a chest out from under it, "I couldn't find you any beautiful gowns," he said opening it to pull out a velvet green dress. Most women would be able to make that by their own hand, so it truly was nothing special, but since Jungkook had gotten it for me, it was now my favorite.
I wore that dress nearly every day until it started to get a little bit too tight. It was uncomfortable but all I had otherwise was the dress I wore the day we left the kingdom walls. "Y/n!" Jungkook called from outside, I set down my knitting needles and yarn before getting up from the chair. I head out the front door to see Jungkook on the back of the horse "You're leaving?" I questioned, trying to hide my disappointment. "We are, just to the village," he said holding his hand out to me, I pull the door shut behind me as I rush down the steps. I take Jungkook's hand and he hoists me up onto the back of the horse, right into his lap. I'm still surprised every day by his strength, I was no longer as light as I was back in the castle.
We take off across the bridge and through the woods until we find the trail that led out of the woods and into the village. Jungkook came to the village often, trading, working jobs, buying things we needed, so it was no surprise that everyone knew his name and said hello, waving as we passed by. Once we got to the stables, Jungkook tied up the horse and led me towards the market. It had been so long since I had seen other people besides Jungkook, I felt excited, looking around at all the buildings, things and people. If I wasn't holding onto Jungkook I'm sure I would've knocked into so many things by now. I look up at him and he has a smirk on his lips, "Inquisitive as ever princess," he teased and I blush, "Sorry for slowing you down," I mumbled.
"In my book, having the most beautiful woman on my arm is classified as an honor," he replied, I rolled my eyes at his comment, but it was nearly impossible to bite back my smile. "Kook!" a younger woman came running over, I released him to look at a book nearby being sold at one of the stalls, it had been so long since I've read a book. "You came back for me," she teased, but I felt rage flicker in my heart, my head snapped in their direction, she had heart eyes directed towards him. I walked back over to his side, my hand sliding up his arm, wrapping around his bicep "Who's this?" I asked my eyes shooting daggers towards me "Sarah, her father owns the stable," Jungkook replied, her eyes were burning into me "Kook who's this?" she asked crossing her arms over her chest. Jungkook's arm come around my waist and he looked down at me "The love of my life. Mother of my child," he said before turning his gaze towards her "I've told you before," he answered.
Her face was red and I smirked "You know anyone who makes dresses for pregnant women?" I asked running my hand over my more swollen stomach. She grinds her teeth "Yeah," she snapped before turning on her heels, Jungkook and I follow after her, he leans his head down so his lips brush against the top of my head "You could enjoy it less," he teased, but there was no hiding my satisfaction. "Mona," Sarah said getting a woman to walk over "Kook needs a favor," she explained before rushing off. "Kook, what's up?" she smiled towards him, "My girl here," he said bringing his had on top of my head "Needs a dress that works with her growing bump," he replied and she squealed with delight "Of course!" she said grabbing my hand and leading me into her little shop. There were all kinds of dresses and clothes, it reminded me of my seamstress back home.
She pulled out a brown and green dress "This one has a elastic here," she points towards the top, "It goes around your ribcage here," she dragged her finger across my chest right under my breasts "And then flows down," she said before looking at me "Want to try it on?" she asked and I nodded. She pulled me into a makeshift dressing room, helping me out of my current dress and into the new one, it's been a while since someone helped me dress, but it's quite helpful. I sigh at the comfort, it was flowy and not tight around my bump and had flowy sleeves. "It's lovely," I told her and she smiled "I designed it when I was pregnant, should work for all trimesters," she said as if she was still trying to sell it, but I was never taking this off. We stepped out to show Jungkook and he smiled "Good?" he asked taking my hand to twirl me around "I love it."
He pays her for the dress and she gives him a discount since he was always helping people out in town. We left her shop and Jungkook took me to walk through the market. Nearing the end he brought me into an old looking house and I gasped, tears welling in my eyes. From floor to ceiling there were books and bookshelves, it was exactly like the study in the tower, my favorite place. "Oh Kook, you're back," an old man walked out from a nearby room, "And you brought your wife," he said and Jungkook did nothing to correct him. The man looked like he was as old as time itself, his eyes hardly open "You have a beautiful collection," I told him and he broke into a smile "I told him if he let me see a real life princess, I'd share a few books," he said with a wink.
I could've spent hours just running my fingers over the backs of books, reading titles and synopsis's. I picked out three books and he wrote them down so that he remembered he lent them to me and then the two of us left. We were making our way back to the stables. "You have a good day?" he questioned and I nodded my head "Thank you for bringing me," I told him. We climbed onto our horse and headed off to our cabin in the woods. I was completely exhausted by the time we had gotten home and as excited as I was to read my new books, I was going to fall asleep. So I changed into one of Jungkook's old shirt and climbed into our bed. Jungkook chuckled as he pressed a kiss to head "Sleep well princess," he whispered against my head.
It had now been three months since Jungkook had brought me here, making me around six months pregnant, and currently he was working on adding another room to our little cabin home. He had worked hard in the nearby village so now we had nails and wood and he was busily working on the addition, wanting it to get done before the winter. I held my stomach as I walked down the steps, I could hear Jungkook hammering away at the cabin. The jewelry selling for a large amount of money, allowing us to buy more wood and nails. I pull an apple from a nearby tree and bring it over to the horse "Good boy," I said as he takes it carefully from my hand. Jungkook rounds the corner, his shirt long gone, he walked over to me kissing my cheek and running his hand over my stomach "How are you feeling?" he questioned. "Mostly tired," I answered him, "Think you can take a walk?" he asked hopeful and I nodded "I was coming to get you for a break," I answered.
He held my hand and lead me down our makeshift driveway, over the homemade bridge and along the edge of the creek. It was peaceful here. The flowing river reminding me the fountain back home. I felt the baby kick me in the rib and I gasp out a breath, bringing my hand to my stomach. "What?" he asked his eyes widening with concern, but I just take his hand that was holding mine and place his palm against my stomach. I wait for another kick and he gasps when his child's foot meets his hand. His other hand came to my stomach "Hey there," he said stroking my swollen belly "Be kind to your mom," he said leaning down pressing a kiss there. He rose up to press his forehead against mine "Marry me." I pull back to look at him in disbelief and joy colliding. I didn't know which crossed my face.
It's the look in his eyes I find comfort in. The hopeful, terrified look in his eyes that kill me. Suddenly there were tears in my eyes, I wanted to blame it on hormones from pregnancy but I've always been a crier. I clap my hands over my face, trying to hide the sob that leaves my mouth. Jungkook gently pried my hands from my face. "Y/n," he said, his voice hardly a whisper and I'm still crying when I throw my hands around his neck, still crying when he rubbed my back soothingly. "Princess, I really need to know if this means yes or no-" "Yes!" I cried, slightly hysterical. "Yes. Yes to everything with you. Yes to forever with you. Yes." He pulled back and reached into his front pocket, he pulled out a ring, offering it to me.
It was two different metals up and down in opposite directions, with little diamonds in the shape of flowers all around it. It was clearly made from the rings I had taken from the tower "How did you do it?" I asked taking it from him "Don't worry about it. You love it?" he questioned and I nodded before putting it on my left hand. He leaned in pressing a kiss to my lips "Let's go to the chapel right now," He said between kisses "We can get married right now." I took him up on his offer and we got on he back of the horse heading into town. Jungkook called to all the villagers that we were getting married and people all over rushed after us. He hopped off the horse, taking me in his arms before heading into the church. The priest was shocked to see so many people coming in at once "We want to be wed," Jungkook said setting me down "Now?" the priest asked, "Now."
Although our lives didn't change, we couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with love. We couldn't keep ourselves, always touching each other in some way. The village threw a small celebration, with drinking and music. It reminded me as a ball at the castle, but this was more relaxed and more fun. "We got this for you," Sarah said pulling me aside, she tried to act like it was all whatever, Mona holding something behind her back. She pulled it out to reveal a floating lantern "You light it with your partner and send it off with a wish," she explained before placing it in my hands "Thank you," I whispered before rushing off to find Jungkook. He lit the lantern, and we held it in our hands as the hot air filled it "Make a wish," he said and I thought for a second "I hope our baby is healthy." We pushed our hands up and sent the lantern on it's way.
We couldn't let anyone know where we lived, in case someone came looking for us, so we were going to be on our own for this. Jungkook managed to remain calm, telling me what the midwives in the nearby town had told him. It was tiring and excruciating, and I thought I was on the brink of death. The there was the ringing sound of a baby cry and Jungkook focuses on the job, using the scalpel and medical scissor he had bought in the town a few months ago. For the last month of my pregnancy Jungkook has been talking to the midwives in town on delivering a child, they were adamant they come do it themselves but Jungkook convinced them. "What is-" I was still breathless, "Girl," he replied cradling the small child before walking over to the warm bath he had set up. I laid back down, watching as he held her in one arm, using the other to carefully wash her clean.
He wrapped her in a blanket before coming over to the side of the bed. "I want to sit up," I said trying to move, and he helped position me before resting the small one in my arms. I looked down at her and my entire heart swelled. "Hi," I cooed, she had calmed down quite a bit now, I brush my finger against her soft cheek, just staring at her. I was still trying to process it. There's no words to describe it, the love you feel for your child. I turned to look at Jungkook and he was still staring at our daughter. I waited for him to smile or laugh or jump up and down. But he sat there, frozen to the point it started to frighten me. "Jungkook?" I reached out and touched his leg "Jungkook are you alright?" and he nodded his head, still watching her.
His eyes filled with tears. "It's remarkable," he said finally looking towards me in awe "I love you a hundred times more. And I didn't think that was possible." Relief filled me and I moved over on our bed. He took the hint and climbed into the bed with me, his arm coming behind me, so I am partially resting on his shoulder. He rests his head against mine and we both looked down at our daughter "She's perfect," he whispered allowing her small fingers to enclose around his thumb. "She is made from our love," I said knocking my head into his, "Alena," he said and I looked at him questioningly "Means made from love," he explained. I looked down at the little girl "Your parents are in love, you were made of our love, and we love you," I told her. Jungkook leaned in kissing the side of my head "I love you," he whispered.
It took a while for us to get used to having a child. It felt like she needed us constantly, which she did, but now as she was a few months older, it was getting easier. I decided to start keeping a journal, in hopes that one day my daughter or maybe even myself read it. "To myself ten years ago," I liked to say what I was writing while I was writing, also Alena is more calm when she can hear my voice. "You won't believe what I see from this vantage point, the years stretching out before you are like a long winding road. I'm not trying to scare you, but there is a forest up ahead. One so dense and dark, the sunlight won't reach you for a while. You will wander lost, in this long, dark, perilous night, not knowing if it will ever come to an end. But believe me, the light will find you again, and when it does you will no longer be afraid of the dark."
"Stop to catch your breath. Soon, a jagged mountain of ice will rise before you, so steep it will make you want to turn back around. Don't despair; the first foothold is always the most difficult and every inch you claim of that cold, hard precipice will only make you stronger. Before you know it, the round will level out beneath you, and you will look back to see you had conquered what you thought was once impossible." I knew it was a dramatic telling of having to go through princess training, losing my best friend to knight school and then falling in love with him but not being allowed to have him, but I didn't read all those books to say things simply "See that turn just up ahead? That's the place where love will meet you, with arms so warm it will melt away the winter in an instant. And then, it will be summer for a very long time."
I set down my pen on the journal before walking over to the bassinet where Alena was sleeping. She had her thumb in her mouth and she was spread across the entire bed, just like her father. I heard a loud crashing sound, and Alena started wailing, but I knew she would be fine, it was Jungkook who I was worried about. I rushed out the front door to see that the bridge had come down and the royal guard had a sword pointed at Jungkook's neck. "We know you took her Jeon." my heart sunk, and I wanted to step out, but Jungkook subtly shook his head no. "It's just me out here, the Queen had me exiled," Jungkook said and I quietly snuck back into the house to calm down my poor baby. I lifted her up in my arms and muffled her screams into my dress "It's alright," I cooed, but tears of their own well in my eyes.
Without Jungkook I would not survive. I rushed out the front door and all the men turned to face me "It's the princess!" one yelled, a few taking Jungkook's arms and holding them behind his back "Y/n, I told you to stay inside," Jungkook said sternly but I ignored him, "Where's my father? Is he with you?" I demanded walking towards the group. "He's in the carriage, outside he forest," the captain replied, "Bring all of us to him," I said and they looked between each other "If any of you truly cared for me," I added. They continued to hold Jungkook with a sword to his throat, and I marched without my shoes, trying to act brave, even though I was terrified. It felt like forever for us to get out of the forest.
"You did take her you bastard," my father said rushing towards the group, his hand pulling out his own sword, without even thinking I rushed in front of Jungkook. "Don't!" he tried to break free, but more men held onto him. My father stopped "He didn't take me, I ran after him!" tears rolled down my cheeks "I love him." my voice felt weak and small under his enraged gaze "Your mother banished him because he took your virginity-" "Mother banished him because I got pregnant with his child and knew we'd fight to be together," I cut him off and he froze looking at me "Pregnant?" he whispered and I nodded my head before looking down at the little girl in my arms. His gaze followed mine down to the little child in my arms "Alena," I told him and she looked up at him curiously, reaching out for his beard. I looked up at my father and he had softened completely as she tugged at his hair.
"Mother wanted me to get rid of her, and sent Jungkook away. So I ran away," I explained, it had been nearly a year since I had seen my father, but he looked like he had aged lifetimes. "I'm no longer your little girl, and I'm no longer a princess," I told him calmly before lifting my left hand up to show him my ring on my finger "We got married in the nearby village, in the church," I informed him. I turned around to face Jungkook "So if you love me, father, don't hurt him," I said, "I could not bear it," I added looking over my shoulder at him. He gave the signal for his men to stand down and instantly Jungkook took the two of us into his arms "Don't do things like that," His voice breaking "As much as you cannot live without me, I would burn this whole world down without you."
"We don't mind staying lost father. I know how it would look, besides, we like it here," I said which was the truth, anywhere with Jungkook and our daughter is exactly where I wanted to be. "You think I'm going to be able to leave you out here?" my father asked with a slight chuckle. He looked at me "I know Jungkook will lay down his life for you, he's protected you since you were a girl. Honestly there's not a man I trust more with you than him," He admitted, he groaned running his fingers through his hair "You are a princess-" "I'm a wife and mother now," I cut him off "That's all I want to be," I added. "You won't come home?" he questioned and I looked at Jungkook "I am home," I whispered.
"I won't force you. You may chose to lead your own life, but we want to keep in contact," my father relented and I smiled "Sure," I agreed. My father walked over to the three of us, and instinctively Jungkook held me tight, but my father pulled all three of us into his arms. "You will be the future of this kingdom someday, but until then, live a happy life," he whispered before kissing my head and then Alena's forehead. He patted Jungkook on the shoulder "You take care of my girls," he said and Jungkook nodded "I always have." And just like that the past was in the past. We were no longer running and hiding from it. Even though the road has been rocky, I knew that the best was yet to come. "It's supposed to be fun, turning twenty one," I said getting Jungkook to smile "He gave you your best present," he said kissing my forehead.
"Freedom."
