He’s super cautious about everything, if you want soup for dinner he makes sure it’s not too hot, if you want ice cream he lets it thaw just a little so it’s not too cold. When you asked him why he was sticking a thermometer in your coffee he simple said, “too much heat isn’t good for the baby, it could burn it,” as he stared at the meter, “uh-huh, and you do know we’re not in the 1940s anymore, right? We have a much better understanding of mom-baby connections,” you tilted your head, “Look I’m just being cautious, for you, okay?” It’s old fashioned, but it’s sweet.

He nearly has a heart attack when he sees you on a ladder, a step, the counter, or anything with heights. He will literally man handle you, grabbing you carefully by the waist or under your arms (yes, like a child in trouble) to bring you down from where you were, even if it isn’t actually that high. “It wasn’t even that high, babe,” you sigh, waiting for him to get your chips off the top of the fridge, “it’s not like I was climbing Mount Everest.” / “Close enough,” he shake his head at you with a sassy tone, still distraught over you just heaving yourself up onto the countertop.

Sam is always over! Though he doesn’t have kids, he has nephews he’s close with and thus has had some experience with babies and children. Often Bucky just rolls his eyes when Sam’s giving advice, but Sam comes back with “Oh, I’m sorry, who should she believe, a 106 year old who took vintage sex ed in 1900, or someone who was at the hospital with his sister, like eight years ago?” you had to laugh at the comment, but Bucky just ducked his head, “it was 1939…” / Sam is actually a big help for you, he said he’d try to get his sister up to visit with you and talk baby stuff next time the boys are on a mission so you’re not alone.

Sleeping, Bucky’s made it a habit of always going to sleep with his hand somewhere on your stomach, it’s mainly a protective thing, since before the baby he just had to have an arm around you, holding you. But now it has to be skin on skin contact, which means you’ll feel him slowly and softly slip his hand under your shirt when he comes to bed later than you. You’ve come to love it, often placing your hand on top of his.

↳ “lazy days” have become much more of a thing as you entered your third trimester, some days you just don’t want to get out of bed, and Bucky is completely fine with that, he’ll cook, he’ll bring you whatever you want, he’ll lie in bed with you.

You’ve gotten really concerned about the pregnancy and being a mom on a few occasions. Usually this results in some bouts of depression. In times like those, Bucky makes sure he is there physically and mentally for you. If you don’t want to talk about you, he lets you snuggle up as close and as tightly to him as you want. He understand silent suffering and how much just a physical person being there means. When you do want to talk about it, he’s always there and ready to listen.

One minor wince or groan or mumble from you and he’s on it with the “what’s wrong?” / “what is it?” / “how can I help? Is the baby coming?!” He’s mildly paranoid that he’s going to miss something vital or important if he isn’t 100% paying attention to every detail. This is why no you’ve never teased him about anything regarding the baby, because he’s so concerned and invested that it might just give him a heart attack… He is 106.

He was beyond panicked when you called him over, desperately reaching a hand out for him as he sat down next to you. Taking his hand, you press it to your side, and tell him to wait. Super confused if this is a good or bad moment he waits with an anxious look until- “did you feel that?” you smiled up at him; his jaw drops and spreads into a smile as he shifts closer to you in awe silence you both feel another kick, “wh- how did you do that?” he asks, stroking his free hand through your hair, as he bites the corner of his lip. Finding it precious you’re nearly crying from the happiness when he kisses your forehead.

He’s that guy that gets a book on “pregnancy for dummies,” so he can attempt to better understand what you’re going through that he can’t necessarily see. Needless to say part of the book horrified him, “oh my g- do you know what’s happening inside you?!” You just shake your head finding 10/10 entertainment in just watching his face whilst he reads it. The actual “how birth happens” chapter might’ve been one of the best.

He’s actually a little scared, or worried, about touching your baby bump (with a certain hand). You’ve told him you don’t mind that it’s cold, but he’s still avoidant. When asking him why, he didn’t want to say because he thought you might laugh, promising you wouldn’t he confessed, “what if the vibranium… magnetises the baby?” You managed to keep a straight face for approximately two seconds before breaking into laughter.

Your random (and very intense) moods are the biggest handful for him. He’s trying his very best to know what to do, but he never wants to make you feel like it’s not normal to feel a certain way.

↳ The Crying: one time he was telling you about this past mission he was on. It was like casual conversation for him to talk to you about it, but when he got to the part of “so they had these big dogs-” he looked over at you to find you in absolute tears, he stopped in his tracks, biting in his bottom lip as you stared at him, “and? then what?” you asked, voice breaking, he shook his head slowly, keeping eye contact, attempting to think of something, “then-” / “then you became best friends with the dogs and they were on your side in the fight?” he nodded dramatically to you response “yes, that’s exactly what- what happened… yep, nothing more to that story.” 

↳ constant State of Annoyed: at times you’re just purely annoyed for no reason, typically more passive aggressively, but sometimes you’re just straight up honest about it. When he tells you good morning and reminds you how beautiful and glowing you are, you’ve said “I love you, but your voice sounds like a duck today,” or “I am not glowing, be honest, I look and feel like a blimp.” He still tries his best to compliment you, other times he just hides for the day. Until you become super needy at night.

↳ MamaBear Instinct already kicking in: you’ve become extra protective / defensive. One time you were at the store, around one A.M. (because cravings!) and you were picking out cereals together. Bucky was surprised to see some brands he knew still around: “wow, Chex?” he picked up a box, “I didn’t know they were still making these-“ he trialed off about the cereal, but you noticed some kids snickering a few feet down the aisle. “Then again, the last time I had these they tasted like cardboard,” Bucky winced, “probably cause they were made out of it back then-“ / the kids laughed again, despite the soft Hello Kitty pj pants you had on, you were far from soft. “HEY!” You called out, “are you laughing at him?!” Bucky turned to see who you were talking to, but before he had time to address them himself, he was reaching to stop you from lunging over the cart at them, “I will fucking fight you if you are!” / “Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!” Bucky completely stepped to block you, lifting his hands to meet yours gently, but you just tried to push them out of the way still flustered.

You and Bucky have been dating for a few months. It's light and fun, but being that he's often tied up with work, you don't really get to see him a lot - but when you do, it's incredible.

He's a perfect gentleman, with the right amount of cheeky arrogance every now and then, keeping you flustered and falling head over heels for him, and fast. Bucky is falling too, but he isn't afraid of it like he thought he would be. Being with you is the easiest thing he's ever done.

One Friday night, after a long week at work, you're running yourself a soothing bath. You aren't expecting to see Bucky tonight, because he has some party at work.

You both agreed that it's still too soon for you to meet his coworkers, no matter how badly you want to meet the Avengers, seeing as his job is intense and there's a lot of secrets and danger and security issues involved when you start dating a superhero.

Instead, you're planning on having a nice bath and maybe ordering some Chinese later, and then you'll probably spend the rest of the evening texting Bucky to make sure you're still on his mind while he's undoubtedly surrounded by gorgeous women.

While the tub fills up with water, you're standing naked in front of the mirror. You turn around to look at your back, the sight of it making your stomach drop.

The acne has been worse recently, and you aren't sure why. Hundreds of different creams sit half-used in your cupboards, none of them curing your skin. You've tried everything from home-grown herbs to medically prescribed steroids, but nothing has ever worked in removing your acne.

Your heart aches when you think of how Bucky would feel if he was to see it. You've done well to avoid it so far; sticking to missionary and cowgirl during sex and keeping a shirt on the rest of the time, but summer's fast approaching, and with it your anxiety, too. Any week now, the sun will burst through the dreary skies of New York with the fury of a thousand fires, and when Bucky buys you a bikini to wear to the beach, what the fuck are you supposed to do?

There's a knock before you can get into the tub. You answer the door in nothing but the bathrobe that Bucky left behind a few weeks ago, wondering if you accidentally ordered the food already without realizing - but when you see Bucky there, you're shocked.

"Jamie?" You ask as he walks in, wrapping his arms around you. "I thought you had the party tonight?"

"Ah, I thought about going," He mumbles into your neck. "But then I realized I would much rather be with you instead."

With warm cheeks and a warmer heart, you lead him into the living area while he kisses you, almost tripping over the coffee table.

"Nice robe," He whispers against your lips with a smirk.

"Thanks," You reply sweetly, cupping his cheeks. "It belongs to this guy I'm seeing."

"Oh?" Bucky quirks a brow. "And what's this guy like, huh?"

You laugh softly, looking up at him. "Total idiot."

"Huh," he replies, before suddenly grabbing your legs and throwing you over his shoulder. "Must be an idiot if he's left you here alone tonight."

"Don't call him an idiot!" You scold him between laughs as he takes you into your bedroom. "I happen to really like him."

Bucky places you onto the bed before getting down onto his knees in front of you, resting his hands on your knees. "Oh yeah?" Leaning in closer, he lowers his voice to a whisper. "Well, a little birdie told me that he really likes you, too."

Playfully, you pout. "Which other little birdies have you been talking to, mister?"

He grins before standing up. "None but you, my pretty little birdie. None but you." Then, he teasingly takes one of the ties of the bathrobe before slowly pulling on it.

When you realize that he'll see your back if he removes it, you pull back, protectively grabbing the robe and tightening it around your body. "Stop."

Bucky holds his hands up in surrender, taken aback. "You okay, baby?"

Utterly embarassed, you look down. "I'm fine."

He sits next to you on the bed, his eyebrows furrowing. "I'm so sorry, Y/N, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"You didn't," You promise, your tone softening as you look back up at him. "You have nothing to apologize for, I just..."

Confused, Bucky takes your hand in his. "What is it, baby? What's wrong?"

What are you supposed to say? 'I don't want you to think I'm hideous'?

"I'm just a little..." You trail off weakly, unable to find the strength to verbalize your insecurity.

"It's alright," He whispers, stroking your hair. "We don't have to talk about it if you're not ready."

But you can't keep brushing it under the carpet and acting like everything's fine. You can't keep holding back the truth. It's going to come out one day, and you'd rather it be now before you fall even harder for him and his rejection hurts even worse.

"No, it's okay. I'm ready," You tell him, sitting up straight and meeting his concerned gaze. "I... I don't really like my back."

Your voice is small, and he isn't sure he heard you right. "What did you say?" Bucky asks quietly, leaning closer to you.

A sigh leaves your mouth. This is it. Moment of truth.

"I don't like my back," You say a little louder, fiddling with the belt of the bathrobe. "It- I have acne there. It's all red and... and ugly, and I just hate it. I hate it so much and I didn't- I've tried to hide it from you but I know that that isn't fair on you. But I've just been so scared of losing what we have - I have so much fun with you and I like you a lot and I like that you like me, and I don't want you to stop liking me-"

"And you think something like that could make me stop liking you?" He cuts you off, his voice soft and low. "You think it could make me want you any less?"

You want to fall into his kindness, but you can't. "Easier said than done," You grumble bitterly. "You haven't seen it yet. And when you do, you'll think it's ugly and you won't want me anymore, and you'll try to be polite about it but you'll slowly distance yourself and cancel dates and say you're busy with work, and then I'll see you out on the street with some new girl and it'll be so fucking awkward and-"

"Oh, my God," Bucky mutters, his hand running through your hair. "How much time have you spent overthinking this, baby?"

Sheepishly, you shrug. "Every night since we met."

A pained look overtakes his features and he instantly pulls you into his chest, holding you tight. "Oh, baby, come here. I can't believe you've had this weighing on your chest all this time."

Sniffling, you clutch onto his shirt. "It's okay if- if you leave. I'd understand."

Bucky feels his heart break. How hurt must you have been in the past to be so accustomed to being treated so badly?

"Listen to me," He begins sternly, stroking your cheek. "Remember when we first met?"

A soft laugh leaves your mouth. Your first meeting was an absolute disaster - some wannabe villain was causing havoc in New York, and attacked a bar while you were in it because the mayor's son was partying there that night, too. Bucky and the Falcon were thankfully there to save the day, and Bucky took your number while you were getting wheeled away in an ambulance.

"It wasn't that pretty little dress that truly caught my attention. And, although it definitely helped, it wasn't your gorgeous face either," He teases, wrapping his arms tighter around you. "It was the way you were asking everyone if they were okay and needed help, all while having a broken leg and arm yourself. The way you offered to help some guy pull a table off his friend, ignoring your own pain. That selflessness and purity is what drew me into you, and I saw the angel inside you."

You bite down on your lip, doing your best not to cry.

"And the last time I checked, acne doesn't kill the angel," He goes on to say, placing a kiss on your cheek. "And it sure as all hell can't kill the way I feel for you."

Still not convinced, you take in a shaky breath. "You haven't seen it yet," You repeat lowly, your eyes on the ground.

Bucky pulls you onto his lap, his loving gaze never once faltering. "So show me."

Knowing it's the next thing you have to do, you brace yourself. You loosen the robe before pulling it down your shoulders, facing away from Bucky as you expose your back to him. Unable to see his reaction.

There's a short silence, during which your heart clenches. and then, making your stomach flutter, you feel him press a tender kiss to your back.

"Buck," You whisper, your eyes wide. "What are you doing?"

"Kissing my girl," He replies soothingly, before wrapping his arm around your bare chest, his cold watch pressing to your nipple. "Is that such a crime?"

Having expected him to be disgusted, you're overwhelmed by his calm, unmoved demeanor. You're moved to tears, and this time you can't hold them back.

Bucky gently rocks you on his lap, his lips close to your ear. "I am so sorry that, somewhere along the line, someone made you feel like your body is something to be ashamed of. I'm sorry that you've had to be in the presence of people that are so insecure and self-hating, that all they can do is project negativity and hate onto others. But I promise you, baby, I'm gonna love you a hundred times as hard as they hurt you. I'm gonna love you until you're sick of me," He says, making you giggle as he kisses your cheek. "I'm gonna love you until all you know is love. And then I'll keep loving you after that, my pretty little birdie."

You meet his eyes, your blurry vision doing little to stifle his beauty. Even through your tears, you can see him for the angel he is. And he brings out the angel in you.

I think this just might be my favourite Bucky of all time?? Like, he's got that caretaker side of him, worrying about Steve in their childhood, standing with him in back alley fights. Even after Steve was all serum'd up, Bucky was still watching his 6 because Bucky doesn't think that Steve is weak and needs his help - he simply doesn't think he could survive without him. Then you mix in some of that aggression and power that Hydra's programmed into him - that feral, unbridled kind of power that's so different from his previous controlled strength.

Then you add that resentment for what they put him through, for what they made him put other people through.

And finally, the last ingredient: freedom of control. To make choices for himself. To be on the other side of the script for once.

You know what the ultimate declaration of love is? Steve absolutely, completing giving himself over to Bucky. Presenting himself, absolutely submitting himself. Telling Bucky "I trust you", which means the WORLD to him. Bucky, who is so used to hurting people and being overly careful *not to*. And here's Steve who can *take* it and even *want* it.

You hummed to yourself as you sat on your bed with your back pressed against the backboard. You were scrolling through your phone as you heard the TV playing in the back ground. You had just taken a shower and now you were waiting on Bucky to come upstairs so you could both lie down and go to sleep.

You took a few glances up at the TV as you continued to scroll through your phone. Your head titled upwards as you heard footsteps coming up the stairs. You smiled as Bucky walked through the cracked door and looked up at you. A soft smile arose on his face as he saw you lying on the bed. He chuckled as he kneeled on the mattress and crawled over to where you were lying. He crawled up next to you and pressed his lips up against yours softly as he brought up his metallic arm up to hold your cheek. You immediately put your phone down as you brought your hands up to hold his face. You felt him smile into the kiss as he kept his lips pressed against your face.

After a few moments, you had pulled away from his lips while continuing to hold his face in your hands. You pressed your forehead against his while you smiled at him, happily surprised at his random act of affection. Before you could say anything, Bucky had pulled back away from your face and turned his body so that he could lay sideways, with his head on your bare thighs. He kept his head sideways on your lap and bringing his right arm up to lay on your upper thigh.

"Someone's needy." You smirk as you bring up one of your hands and hold it ontop of his head. He doesn't respond as he continues to hold his large hand on your thigh and you wrapped your hand in his hair. He hummed as he brought his head up for a second to kiss your thigh and almsot immediately laid his head back down on your thigh. You chuckled at his neediness and left your hand tangled in his hair as you looked up and glanced at the TV mounted on the wall.

Both of you had laid in this postion for a good 15 minutes, you had thought Bucky had fallen asleep on your legs. That was thought until he had unexpectedly shot his head up, it even almost made you jump. He had crawled over to the edge of the bed and up to where your legs were. He crawled over you, almost ontop of you, when he softly grabbed the back of both of your legs. He turned his body and laid his head between your legs as he looked up at the ceiling and had your legs over his shoulders.

"What are you doing?" you chuckled as you brought your hand down to lay ontop of his head once again. "Just relaxing." He muttered as he kept both of his hands on either side of both of your thighs as he laid between your legs. You smiled as you kept your hand down and in his hair as he smiled. He turned his head into one of your thighs and kissed it softly as he gripped both of your thighs tightly. "I love this." He whispered as he kissed your inner thigh again. You smiled widely as Bucky laid between your thighs, counting to hold onto your thighs. Eventually Bucky had fallen asleep between your thighs and you chuckled realizing that you would be lying here for a while until Bucky wanted to get up from his comfortable condition.

𝐛𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬 - 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 • he tries to understand things from this day and age: it'd actually be really funny, almost like a grandpa. sometimes you could hear him aggressively tapping at his phone or calling peter over just so peter could show him how to move apps. bucky wouldn't always like asking for help so he'd tried to subtly ask but you would easily see through that. • his relationship habits would be very old fashion: he would randomly bring you flowers, especially if you were having a bad day. bucky would ask you about your favorite flowers and take notes of those. in addition, he would do small little things to "spice things up". from holding the door for you or writing small love notes he would leave around the house. • nicknames! there would be nicknames galore. from sweetheart to doll there would be so many, and he wouldn't be afraid to use them. you would find them really cute and actually laugh at the really creative ones like "honeybee" or "sugarplum". • no matter what he would always help you through things: his anxiety attacks are bad as well so if you had one he would be there. he knows how to comfort you and would try his very best, mostly by trying to make you smile or laugh. it's actually kind of cute how much he tries, almost like trying to comfort a small puppy.

𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 - 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 • awkward as hell: he would be so awkward, even if you had been dating for a while. pda is the scariest thing for him, but not for himself, but for you. peter would make sure that you were okay with even the slightest pda. it's almost as if he was taking care of a small puppy. he would be so awkward and scared. • cheesy perfection: from a pillow fort for watching a movie to a random box of chocolate on a tuesday, peter would always do the corniest things. especially small gifts! if you ever spotted something small or random, he would remember it and find a way to give it to you. • web sling dates: if you ever wanted to see the city in the middle of the night, he would be up on the roof in an instant. peter would even practice with a pillow or something just to make sure you would feel comfortable going with him. • prom (assuming you're in highschool): oh my gosh would prom be a ride. he would get you a corsage and make sure to get himself a matching boutonniere. speaking of matching, he would be sure to make your dress color perfectly! peter would make reservations at a nice restaurant and organize a car to take you to the dance. while at the dance, he would be sure to bust out his best moves.

𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 • loyalty is a given: of course steve is a loyal friend! that man said his friend from a pow camp! if someone was smack talking you, steve would be there to defend you immediately • your main wingman: he would be the biggest wingman you could think of. if you ever expressed interest in anyone, he would immediately go talk to them to help you out. this would also include saving you from horrible first dates or pretending to be your brother in a bar to take you home. • dad energy: oh my lord does this man radiate dad energy. we all have that mom friend well let me introduce to you, the dad friend. if you were ever on a road trip, there would be scheduled bathroom breaks for sure.  • old fashioned: just like bucky he’d be super old fashioned. you would see him always having proper manners, even for those he didn’t know. like opening the door for someone, helping a lady across the street (cliche i know). please and thank you for everything.
