Summary: Joelle Coleman lived, since she could remember, in the circus. In the year 1936 there was a time, where the circus la d'or rosé came to New York, where it pitched its tents and planned on staying there over the winter break. For exactly three months Jo would stay in New York and go hunt her little adventures. The winter of 1936 in New York changes everything and her fate becomes entangled with that of the so-called Winter Soldier.

"Hey is..."
Gustav interrupted him before he was able to even finish his question.
"She is in there." He said, his voice deep and rough as always. He nodded and followed the showed direction. He slipped through the curtains of the tent and entered a big room. Many wooden boxes laid around. Props and costumes formed a jungle and, in the middle, a large area to move freely. The floor was wooden as well, and the beams held the heavy tent. One headlight enlightened the room and the air was filled with dust. From a beam hung an aerial silk. There she was. Just as magical as on the first evening he had seen her. With delicate and swift movements, she glided through the air. The dust around her, seemed to change into light shadows flowing around her. The motion seemed feathery and with ease she pulled herself up, then spinning again. But there was strength in her movement.
Bucky knew she made it seem easy, but a lot of work went into it. He didn't even think of interrupting and just stood there, watching. Watching her finger play in the air, watching her hair flow, watching her body move into complicated poses. She sat in the silks, then leaned back. Her feet intertwined with the aerials and her upper body and arms hung loose. Her eyes met his.
"You don't have to come to every show, you know that?" He smiled, leaning against a beam.
"I know. But I like watching you." She laughed quietly. She turned so her chest pointed towards the ground, one leg was still intertwined with the silk, the other was stretched out. With one hand she held herself, the other reached towards Bucky. He came closer, now only standing a few feet away. But Joelle was still higher up. Then suddenly she spun and began to fall down. Bucky had seen her do the trick before, but now in close-up it was even more impressive. When she reached his height, her right hand was caught up in the aerial silk and her body stretched down in a fluent motion. When her tiptoes touched the floor, she let go and finally stood normal in front of him. She walked past him and took a bottle of water from a box.
"Why are you here?" She took a sip and watched Bucky awkwardly scratch his neck.
"I just... I just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out or something." She didn't smile and his heart sunk.
"I actually wanted to train some more..." She explained and he nodded understanding. He had already turned around, ready to leave when her voice caught him off.
"You wanna help me?"
"How can I help you?" From a dusty corner she pulled out a thick mattress.
"I wanted to practice some tricks, it would be great if I had someone to hold me." He immediately nodded, even though he was unsure. She changed the Arial silk into a hoop and hung him up quite high.
"Do you think you can lift me on your hands?"
"Um... how exactly?" She smiled and helped him position. He stood, slightly bent down, hands resting on his upper thighs.
"I'm gonna take a few steps to lunge, then I'll step onto your hands. If you can, you will push me up, until your hands lay on your shoulders."
"Then what's the plan?"
"If it works you'll throw me."
"Throw you?"
"Yes, I want to jump through the hoop and catch myself in the last second. I'll spin a few times around the hoop to balance my speed."
"What if you don't catch yourself?"
"I'll fall."
"How ensuring." She smiled at him.
"Don't worry, I believe in you." She took a few steps back, Buckys heart pounded in his chest. "Are you ready?" She asked, he nodded. One last time he rubbed his already sweaty hands on his pants, then she lunged forwards. Her feet landed perfectly onto his hands and slowly, but surely, he lifted her up until his hands, and so her feet as well, laid onto his shoulder. Her arms were stretched out to keep balanced, but she laughed jubilant.
"Great! I count to three." Bucky tried to stay as steady as possibly.
"One." He tried to focus and imagine throwing her.
"Two." She glanced down at him and nodded.
"Three." He pushed out his arms and threw her. His eyes did not once leave her body. She flew and reach the hoop. She didn't jump through though, but her hands gabbed the hoop and she pulled herself up.
"Great! That was so good already, Buck." He sighed relieved and at the same time, his body began to search the adrenalin that has sped through his blood seconds before. It was like a drug. She was like a drug to him, that he couldn't get enough of.
"You think we could repeat this?" She asked, jumped down and made a roll to balance the power from the collision. He smiled and nodded.
They tried it again, and every time Jo came close to him and he could smell her, he wanted more. Every time their skin touched, he craved more. They had tried it two more times and Joelle was getting closer to perfectly jumping through the hoop.
"One last time." She exclaimed.
"I will get it right this time." She promised, more to herself than Bucky. She jumped onto his hands and got pushed up and thrown immediately. Bucky's blue eyes watched her in amaze. She jumped through the hoop perfectly. But then her hands grasped at nothing. She flew right through the hoop and the moment she realized she was falling, she closed her eyes. She waited, but no collision came. Two strong arms had wrapped around her in the very last second and caught her. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked right into icy blue ones. Hers just as his breathing was unsteady and for what felt like eternity, they stared into each other's eyes. Then someone cleared his throat. Joelle and Bucky jumped at the sudden sound and her warmth left his body. Steve stood there, grinning at the two.
"What are you doing here, Steve?" Jo asked, skillful hiding the awkwardness.
"I could ask you the same." Jo scuffed, rolling her eyes and casually she strolled over to drink something.
"I was training and James helped me. That's all. And what were you doing here?" Steve gave Bucky one last grin, which Bucky replied with a deadly glare.
"Oh I was just wondering if you two wanted to join me in this party I got invited." Steve took at a piece of paper and the other two looked at it interested. "How did you get an invitation?" Bucky asked surprised. It was a rather fancy party with all kinds of rich people. It wasn't a party they usually got invited to.
"My dad knew the owner." Steve simply explained. Jo thought for a moment, then she nodded. "I have a show, so I'll be coming a little later. How fancy do I have to dress?"
"Very fancy." Steve exclaimed and Bucky agreed with a simple nod. She laughed at the two.
"You talk to me like I don't know how to dress. Do you guys have something to wear for an occasion like this?" Steve frowned, but Bucky already patted him on the shoulder. "I'll organize something."
"Maman?" Jo asked her mother, who just stormed out her trailer. "Is there something wrong?" Her mother didn't look anything like Joelle. She wore her hair always tight and her facial expressions often seemed critical and harsh. But now the wrinkles on her forehead had grown and, in her eyes, laid unease. But just like her daughter, she was excellent in covering her anxiety and other kinds of secrets.
"Oh it's nothing, ma cocotte. Me and your father just had a little disagreement." Joelle furrowed in confusion, but her mother had already rushed passed her. Jo looked at the trailer, for a few seconds she considered knocking, but her father probably wanted to be left alone, so she scrapped the idea. She shook her head and returned to her own trailer...
SUMMARY: Bucky comes home after a long tiring day, and asks you to sing him to sleep.
*Your POV*
You and Bucky lay together on your shared bed. You were sat up against the pillows, with the back of his head was pressing against your chest. You gently placed your chin on top. The two of you sat in silence for a moment, just enjoying each others embrace.
"Y/N," Bucky whispered, gently lifting his head sleepily. You hummed softly in response. "Do we have a mission tomorrow?"
"No, Buck. We get to sleep in." You replied. His lips formed into a smile and he let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank God." He said as he rested his head back against your chest. "Tomorrow we're just gonna lay here all day." Bucky flipped himself over and pulled you down, so you were now laying beside him. He gently rested his head on top your chest as he wrapped his arms around you. Usually it was you who would lay on his chest, but tonight was different. Bucky had been out on a long and tiring mission all day, and was exhausted. All he wanted to do was sleep in your arms. You were his safe space. You wrapped your arms around his figure, holding him tight. Then, you lifted one of your hands to gently play his hair.
For the first time in a while, Bucky felt himself completely relax. You felt him sigh against your chest, and you could tell he was falling asleep. Then suddenly, Steve burst through the door of your room. Bucky immediately pushed himself off of you, lifting his head to see what the loud noise was. "Steve?" He groaned, rubbing the corners of his eyes.
"Sorry, sorry," Steve panted, trying to catch his breath. His hands fell to his knees, trying to keep himself standing. "The guy escaped!" Bucky shuffled off of the bed to his feet, groaning in annoyance.
"You let him escape?" He exclaimed, trying to control his anger.
"Well, I-"
"The guy that we have been trying to find," Bucky paused before continuing, "The entire day," He added, his voice growing louder. "Has escaped?" This time he was nearly shouting. You quickly got up from the bed, placing a hand on his back.
"Hey Buck, it's alright, we'll get him back." You said reassuringly, gently rubbing his back with your hand. Steve looked at the floor, unsure of what to say.
"No, It's not alright, Y/N!" Bucky yelled, turning to his side to look at you. "It's been a long ass day, and all I want to do is go to bed with my girlfriend!" He turned back to Steve, running his hands through his long hair. "And I can't do that now, cause I have to go find this criminal!" He moved over to the bed, and sat down, groaning. You slowly sat beside him, placing a hand on his thigh.
"It's alright, Buck." You said. "Steve will go find the criminal, and you can go to sleep."
"What!" Steve protested. You threw out a finger at Steve, not even looking at him, and signalled for him to be quiet.
"Steve will go find him." You repeated, grabbing the side of Bucky's face gently. He sighed into your hand. You stood up and turned towards Steve, "better get going, Cap." Steve rolled his eyes at the two of you and left the room. You closed the door behind him before making your way back over to your boyfriend. The two of you gently fell back on the bed, moving to the same positions as before. His head was back on top of your chest, and you were running your fingers through his brown hair.
You and Bucky both closed your eyes as you laid there together in silence, holding each other. You could feel Bucky's heart racing, trying to calm itself down but failing. "Y/N" He whispered, gently lifting and turning his head, trying to make his eyes reach yours. Your eyelashes fluttered as you opened your eyes, looking at the tired boy. "I can't sleep, will you sing for me?" He asked. He knew you hated your voice, but he loved it too much. You would usually laugh and say no to him, but he was so tired and so cute. It was impossible to deny his request.
"Fine." You said, rolling your eyes with a smile. He smiled softly before turning his head back around and placing it on your chest once again. You thought of what to sing and only one song crossed your mind.
"Close your eyes,
and I'll kiss you.
Tomorrow I'll miss you,
remember I'll always be true."
The song was 'All My Loving' byThe Beatles. It had been yours and Bucky's song for years. He loved the song, and so did you. The song had always meant something to you and him. You used to sing it to him when he couldn't sleep because of his nightmares, but those eventually faded and you stopped.
"And then while I'm away,
I'll write home everyday,
and I'll send all my loving to you."
The two of you had danced to it the day Bucky joined the Avengers officially. He was going through a phase of listening to popular songs from each decade, and was in his 60s songs era. He had asked to play the song, and then asked you to dance. The two of you moved slowly to the song, holding each other closely as you danced. It didn't matter that no one else was dancing, you just wanted to hold him.
"I'll pretend that I'm kissing,
the lips I am missing.
And hope,
that my dreams will come true."
Bucky could feel the vibration of your gentle hums against his cheek, coming from your chest. He smiled softly at the sound of your angelic voice, and closed his eyes. It reminded him of when his mother used to sing him to sleep, way back in the 20s.
"And then while I'm away,
I'll write home everyday,
and I'll send all my loving to you."
Summary: just a quick lil thang about Bucky and reader not being people persons 😌 🎉
Authors note: soooo this is the first fic I’ve posted 🥲
thank you for reading! ☺️💖
The cool breeze bit at your skin as you stood on the balcony overlooking the blinking lights of New York City. The sounds of traffic and distant thunder were starting to be drowned out by the party inside. People laughed and chatted loudly to be heard over the chilled jazz resonating through the room. It was hard to move around in there; there were so many people. So many people you didn’t know. You just needed a moment to recharge your social battery before going back inside.
You were still relatively new to the team, not really feeling like part of the family yet. Meaning people knew who you were but weren’t well known enough for strangers to talk to you about how incredible it is to be an Avenger.
You placed your glass of half-drunk wine on the balcony railing as you inhaled the calming smell of oncoming rain.
“Mind if I join you?” A deep voice sounded from behind you. You glanced over your shoulder to double check who it was. Though the husky voice already gave it away… Bucky.
You hadn’t really gotten to know everybody too well yet, but Bucky instantly drew you in. You weren’t sure if it was his sad eyes and the story that was behind him or the kind smile he would still send your way regardless of that. The fact that he was unbelievably beautiful didn’t help either.
“Of course.” You gestured to the space next to you and offered him a small smile. His long brown hair was tied back into a bun, bits and pieces falling out into his face. He was in all black like usual. Dress pants with a button-down shirt and bomber jacket. You’d be lying if you said he didn’t look devastatingly gorgeous right now.
“Having fun?” He asked you amusedly, taking a sip of whatever was in the bottle he was holding in his gloved hand. His eyes bore into yours as he awaited an answer.
You smirked and looked down at your glass. His gaze making your cheeks blush more than the wine was.
“No, not really.” You said truthfully. “I’m sure it’s a great party but I’m just not much of a people person.” You sighed, bringing your wine to your lips, and taking a sip of the presumably expensive liquid.
“What about you? You having fun?” you asked him, kind of happy to have some company. Maybe just because its him.
Bucky let out a heavy sigh, turning around to rest his back against the railing next to you.
“No. It’s not really my sort of thing.” He let his gaze linger on the room in front of him before flicking them up to meet yours. “Most of them only know of me from when I…before I came here.”
It wasn’t your place to ask what he meant by that, as much as you wanted to.
The wind picked up even more, the air now making your bare skin break out in goosebumps. You crossed your arms across your chest as you gently rub your hands down your arms to try to warm them up.
“You cold?” He asked you softly.
“Just a bit,” You answered honestly. “There’s a storm coming.” You pointed a painted nail to the distant flashes of lighting.
“Here,” He shrugs of his dark jacket of his shoulders and placed it gently over yours. “I don’t really feel the cold anyways.” The warmth of the oversized jacket immediately soothed you. The smell of expensive cologne washed over you, and you realize how close to you he’s still standing.
“Thanks, Bucky. “ You look up at him through your lashes. His blue eyes were so captivating, his hair looked so soft to the touch, his lips…
“Anytime, Doll.” The nickname making a warmth crawl up your neck to your cheeks. He took a step back but didn’t stray too far. You swear you could still feel the heat radiating from him. You leant down on the cool balcony railing.
“So do you know any of the people in there?” You asked him, glad something came out of your mouth even though it wasn’t the best conversation starter.
Bucky matched your actions and leant down on the railing right next to you.
“Nah, not really,” he said, looking over his shoulder at the party. “Mostly politicians and celebrities, I think. I bet Tony wouldn’t know most of them either.” He chuckled, making you chuckle too. His eyes crinkled as he smiled. You looked over your shoulder to look at the people partying as well.
“Oh, I know him,” He pointed. “That’s Steve. And he’s talking to Sal or Sam… whatever his name is.” He joked. You scoffed, shaking your head. Bucky and Sam have had this love-hate friendship since they met apparently.
Bucky looked back at you, and you realized how close you really were. His eyes trailed over your face, flickering down to your parted lips then back up to meet your gaze.
“Hey, did you uh- can I grab you a drink?” Bucky asked nervously, pointing a thumb to the bar inside the tower. You smiled at him.
“I’d love that.” You blushed as he stood up and held his arm out for you to take.
This party just got a lot better.
A/N: I think it might be good? Idk You let me know. But like frfr, don't just give me feedback in your mind, put it into words. Also I apparently have a thing for Bucky in a dotted apron soooo yeah.
FYI: time zone/era is open for interpretation. Bucky never became an avenger/soldat and steve isn't part of this one.
The wind that blew around you was warm and sweet with the scent of freshly bloomed flowers. Perhaps it was an act of kindness from some God trying to distract you from the cold bitterness settling into your bones. Closing your eyes you conjure the very memory that left you so desolate.
The sun snuck it's way through the curtains to illuminate the room, effectively disturbing the sleep that you always seemed to be craving. Waking up is always hassle but whenever you remember that you get to spend your day with the only person who tolerates you and you him, getting out of bed is the easiest thing. Bucky is crazy and the damn boy is never in one spot for to long and he always has something to say, but you can't imagine how boring your days would be if you guys had never met. well technically if your parents had never met.
When you were a child you parents had to move to new york for business and they decided that Brooklyn was the place to be. You had been Bucky's neighbor and the first day you guys moved in his mom had dragged him over with the most delicious angel food cake that he so proudly claimed to have made mostly on his own. He just loved cooking and baking since forever, he would tell you that he just liked experimenting with foods but you knew the truth was that the boy liked to eat and didn't have the patience to wait for his mother to come home.
Only a few years after your family had moved to Brooklyn you and Bucky had already built an unbreakable bond. You guys had found a beautiful cherry tree one day when playing tag and had deemed it to be your's and Bucky's spot. Whenever you had a bad day or needed time away from the world you guys would go to the tree and just pick cherries, in the winter time you and Bucky would lay under the tree and kick the trunk so that the snow would fall from the leaves. It was the place where at only 15 years old bucky swore he would open his own Bakery and to quote him "I'm serving my ma's food my way doll, It's gonna be the next best thing to hit New York."
You were laying on the ground with your hands crossed behind your head looking up at Bucky swinging upside down from a branch when he told you all this. You felt something you had never felt before at that moment, looking up at the wild haired boy who loved to eat, loved his family, and had the most ambition you had ever heard from kids your age. Your heart felt full and your cheeks grew warm as you looked up at the same blue eyes you had know for years now, only this time you notice the way they twinkle in the sunlight and how rosy his lips are. Now 7 years laters you and Bucky were preparing to open the very bakery he promised you he'd open. Banners were beautifully strung along the walls and cute retro china was set out, ready to be filled for opening day. There was no hesitation from you when Bucky had asked you to run the bakery with him, you were excited to spend your days with the person you hoped you would spend the rest of your life with.
At around 6:30 in the morning you had arrived at the bakery but it seemed that Bucky had beat you to it. The smell of fresh angel food cake and cocoa danced up your nose as soon as you opened the door. Closing your eyes you smiled at the memories that it brought back. Moving to the back you grabbed your Disney themed apron and placed your bag and coat in its place before scurrying over to the kitchen while trying (and failing) to tie your apron. There in all his dorkiness was Bucky wiggling around to the chordettes. He knew that you loved the 50's aesthetic so he found a way to incorporate it without going overboard, by adding little trinkets, a jukebox, and even those cute little dining tables. In fact at the moment he was wearing a ruffly red polka dotted apron as he frosted some cupcakes.
Apron tied, you were finally ready to get to work. You walked up to Bucky bumping his hip as you reached for some cupcake pans, "Whatcha doin here so early Buck, we don't open until 12" he looks at you with squinted eyes, "The hell are you doing here so early." "Woah, woah, woah completely unprovoked. I'm just saying cuz' you were the one complaining about the opening time being set at 8. Like damn." Breathing out a huff of air he wipes his forehead with a towel "I'm sorry doll, I'm just super nervous and I couldn't sleep so I came to start baking things. I already frosted the ice cream cakes and I just finished the pies, but I was thinking that maybe we needed some cupcakes too, even though we already baked so many pastries and stuff last night I'm worried it won't be enough."
Setting down the trays you move to hug Bucky from behind holding him close to you. "Buck I know we'll do great your food is too good to pass up on especially when it's free." You place a soft kiss to his shoulder " I promise you'll do great, everything you do is amazing you try your hardest at everything Buck, You've worked your butt off and made mine considerably larger to get here, don't start losing your mind on me now." A cute little laugh from Bucky lets you know that he's hearing you and he isn't so stressed anymore. "I just want this to be perfect ya know?" with your head still against his back you nod, "I just want it to be a special day for my special girl."
You couldn't stop the slight blush that rose to your cheeks or the way that your heart suddenly started beating three times faster. You had also wanted to make him something special which is why you had got here so early. Finally releasing your hold on Bucky you straighten your apron out before gathering everything you need for some red velvet cupcakes. Bucky loved your red velvet cake so you loved making it for him. After hours of mixing, baking, and frosting had passed, you guys were rewarded with a bakery that looked as great as it smelled. "Alright doll, I'm heading out, I gotta go get ready. Meet you back here at 12 , Love ya." He didn't even give you a chance to answer as he ran right out the door. "Love you too."
You had stayed behind just a little while longer as you perfected your secret project. Carefully you added snowflakes to some of the cupcakes because you knew how much he loved snow even if he hated winter, some cats, flowers that reminded you of bucky, and one extra special cupcake. When you finish you decide to clean up a bit more and prepare some drinks for later before heading home to get ready. As soon as you got home you took a shower and did the simplest of make up with a light pink lip. You had decided to wear a dress to match the blossoming flowers that spring had brought. Pink with a yellow lace trim and flowers embroided all over the dress, matching it with some yellow flats.
You had decided that it was a perfect day for a walk so you grabbed a light scarf and slung it over your shoulders, grabbed Bucky's cupcakes, and headed over to the bakery. You felt as if a Hundred pounds had been lifted from your shoulders knowing that Bucky had felt the same way about you. You had decided that you would tell him today with your special cupcakes. As you rounded the corner you felt giddy and you couldn't wipe the smile from your face no matter how hard you tried. As you reached the bakery you saw that a majority of the people had already arrived and you knew that it would put Bucky at ease to see all the people enjoying his food. You stopped at the window, closing your eyes to take a deep breath to prepare yourself to join the celebration.
Opening your eyes you reached for the handle only to stop at the sight on the other side of the door. Bucky stood there arms wrapped around a woman eyes locked on hers as he leaned in for a kiss. It must have all happened in about 30 seconds but it felt as if time himself had slowed it down for you to watch the way he tilted her head and ran his tongue along her bottom lip before finally uniting their lips. Your heart dropped as quickly as your smile did and suddenly you felt so stupid for thinking this could be real. You willed yourself not to cry as you allowed your legs to carry you anywhere but there.
That's how you found yourself sitting underneath a blossoming cherry tree. A tree that held only happy memories because it wasn't a place you could be sad... back then. With your back against the tree and box of cupcakes full of unrequited love in your lap you realize how much you over romanticized Bucky. Opening the box you decide it would be a shame to let them go to waste. The first one you grab has a big red heart frosted in the middle, you let out a deep sigh before breaking the cupcake right down the middle. You shove half of the cupcake into your mouth and only then do you allow the tears to fall. You sat there for hours crying eating cupcakes, watching the sunset, and thinking about everything that Bucky did for you, as a friend. You realize you had no right to be angry at Bucky, after all you never told him how you felt you just assumed that he would feel the same way after so many years. With every broken memory another cupcake vanished.
He was always there for you, when no one wanted to come to your slumber party Bucky did and he even did all the girly things with you. Painting your nails, doing your hair, watching chick flicks, and pillow fights. once he even asserted that no one could protect you as well as he could, when you had decided to go camping with your friend from class so he insisted on taking you himself. Your friend was most noticeably gay so you had assumed he wanted to spend time alone with you. But now that you think back on those memories these are things that anyone would do for their bestfriend. And that's what you realized 8 hours and 11 cupcakes later.
The moon floated above you and as it's white rays settled upon the lake you decided it might be time to go home now. You get up and dust your dress off before leaning down to grab the mostly empty box. Turning around you are stopped again by what's in front of you. Bucky stands there brows furrowed as his eyes flash from you to the box in your hands. "Where the hell have you been, I've been calling you all day." swallowing the lump in your throat you go to answer but are interrupted. " everyone's been asking me about you all night and I had no damn idea what to tell them, but apparently you were just out here being inconsiderate. You go and tell me I can do great tonight, that you'd be there for me, but you weren't." You try to answer him but are again interrupted. "You could have told me something earlier instead of leaving me there like a dumb-" "SHUT UP!" this time it was your turn to interrupt him.
Taking a deep breath you look into his eyes before explaining. "Of course I was ready to be there today, you think I wore this dress to sit under a damn tree? Well I didn't. When I left my apartment I was ready and I was excited, so excited. I couldn't even stop smiling on my way over, but then I got to the shop and I saw-" Immediately you stopped as you realized what you were about to say. He cocked an eyebrow and shook his head slightly as if to say 'Hello?' "You saw what? What did you see that would make you abandon ship just like that?" Shame flushed through your being and you could no longer keep eye contact. "Nothing, you know what, it doesn't even matter. I'm sorry I was being dramatic I should have been an adult and dealt with it on my own time. And I'm sorry I abandoned you all, but the night was about you anyways."
"The night was supposed to be about the both of us so it does matter if you saw something that made you want to leave. Just tell me doll, what did you see?" his voice is soft as he pleads with you. "I saw... well I saw you kissing that lady and I just wanted get away and ended up here okay!?" You said it all in a jumble hoping that he wouldn't be able to understand what you had said. But luck wasn't your friend so of course he did. "So seeing me kiss another person was so gross to you that you had to run away, what the hell? are you 13 again?" You hadn't admitted it outloud yet and it seemed that the dumbass in front of you was going to force it out of you.
Stepping around Bucky you pull your scarf tight around your body as you focus on not crying anymore until you get home. You distract yourself by thinking of all the love you saw in all the little things Bucky did for you. Dancing around the newly furnished bakery body against body as frank sinatra brought you heart to heart, watching rom-coms and ugly crying together, but by the time you get home you force yourself to face the ugly truth. The Love was always in your head. It wasn't real.
A new wave of tears blurred your vision as teardrops fell perfectly to the ground. "It's because I have feelings for you Bucky, and I now know you don't feel the same way." Sniffling you don't bother looking up because your heart is to broken for that right now. "I'm Just gonna need a little bit of time and I'll be back good as new like nothing even happened." Still unable to lift your gaze from the ground you decide to focus on the last cupcake left in the box. 'I Love You' is written in tiny light blue frosting letters. "I uhm, uhh." That brought your attention to Bucky, as embarrassment pulsed as strong as ever through your veins. " You don't have to say anything Buck, It's fine, I'll see you next week, on monday" you hand him the box as you go to pass him "I think you would have a better use for this than me I ate 11 others already so."

You woke with a start, a scream tearing out of your throat and tears pouring down your face. Hands fisted in sheets, you were absolutely drenched in sweat and your chest was heaving.
“It’s not real, it’s not real, it’s not real,” you whispered to yourself.
Your clock glared 3:42AM in neon green letters, you knew you weren’t going to be able to go back to sleep. After a few deep breaths to steady your breathing and heart rate, you swung your legs out and got up from your bed. You decided to go ahead and start your day, the gym would likely be empty since it was the middle of night.
After pulling on workout clothes, you took the elevator down to the gym and upon entry JARVIS greeted you and asked if you would like your usual workout playlist. After Kevin Gates started blaring through the speakers, you took a shot of pre-workout and started your warm-up. You were already pouring sweat when the doors to the elevator opened and revealed a tired Bucky Barnes, you called for JARVIS to pause the music. When the music stopped, you sat on one of the benches and Bucky shuffled over to sit next to you.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” He asked softly.
“Just another nightmare,” you replied, wiping sweat from your brow and swigging out of a water bottle.
“Can I workout with you?” Bucky asked.
“You know you don’t have to ask me that, I told you when you got here that you could workout with me any time you want,” you replied, giving him a nudge with your elbow.
“I’ve seen your workouts, you trying to torture yourself?” Bucky joked.
He wasn’t wrong necessarily, your workouts were designed to push your body so that your mind would stop. You stood up and laughed, you walked over to the free weights section and set up for an intense leg day now that Bucky was joining you. You both got to work on lifting and the silence didn’t bother you like you thought it would, the grunts and semi-laboured breathing.
“I can’t go back to sleep, after they happen,” you said, softly.
Bucky’s ocean eyes found mine, he sucked in a deep breath and pushed through the rest of his set before the bar hit the floor.
“I can’t either, they just start all over again,” Bucky replied, he wiped sweat from his forehead with his forearm.
You nodded, “Do you think we’ll ever not have them?”
Bucky’s face softened at the sound of your words, you could see that he was just as tired of plaguing nightmares as you were. He strode the few feet over to stand in front of you and placed his hand on your shoulder, you leaned into the contact.
“I gave up hope a long time ago, I hope that you don’t have them forever,” his words were low and they wrapped around you warmly.
Tears welled in your eyes and he pulled you into his arms, his large hand softly stroking your hair as he shushed you. You wound your arms tightly around his waist and held on like he was your lifeline as you silently cried into his chest. He crooned your name in your ear, and swayed with you softly back and forth. Your tears slowly stopped and you just let him hold you like that, it was so intimate and it felt… right being that close to him. You forced yourself to pull away from his arms and wipe your face off.
“Wanna spar now?” You asked, avoiding his eyes.
The two of you sparred for hours, until Steve eventually came down looking for you two, you were both a mess, gasping for air and disheveled. Bucky would spar with you until you couldn’t take anymore, that was why you two always worked well on missions together. Steve made you and Bucky hit the shower and then show up on time for breakfast, insisting that Tony was gonna have your heads if you weren’t on time.
After breakfast you decided you needed some downtime and so you ended up in the media room binging Criminal Minds. You were a good six episodes in when JARVIS greeted Bucky as he walked in, your head popped up over the back of the couch and saw him leaning against the doorway. You immediately paused the episode and motioned for him to come sit with you.
“You can come watch with me if you want, it’s a little dark but the character development is honestly worth getting through some of the freaky parts,” you said as Bucky plopped down next to you. Bucky motioned for you to hit play and he snorted as soon as he saw Reid, and glanced over at you with a small smirk on his face.
“Yeah, now I see what you were talking about, Y/N, you’re really here for the character development,” He snarked.
“Hey, now, you may think Spence is a dork but that man has three PHDs, and he could throw me around any day,” you joked.
Bucky snorted and shoved you, “Hey now! I don’t have three PHDs and I throw you around almost everyday.”
You burst into laughter at that and Bucky couldn’t help but join in after you started wheezing and tears came leaking out. It was JARVIS announcing Sam and Steve behind you that had yours and Bucky’s laughter coming to a halt, they were both holding giant bowls and Steve had a hold of one of Tony’s fedoras.
“Lady and gentlemen, it is now time for our next movie showing. Bucky you need to draw so we can get this show on the road,” Sam said jovially.
Bucky rolled his eyes and stuck his hand behind him, Steve moved so his hand was in the hat and Bucky dramatically drew the piece of paper out. He opened it and announced that we would now be watching Beauty and the Beast, you grinned because you knew Bucky would like some parts of this film. Even you could admit that Beauty and the Beast was pretty good, it had funny moments and wholesome ones.
“YES! Now, tin man, you just need to prepare to be wowed by the GREATEST princess movie of all time!” Sam crowed and plopped on the other couch.
“Yeah, yeah, bird brain, pipe down over there and let the movie speak for itself,” you reminded Sam.
Steve chuckled, “JARVIS, please start Beauty and the Beast.”
“Of course, Mr. Rogers,” JARVIS responded and the Disney music started.
Bucky scooched closer to you and eventually his shoulder was touching your own, the contact sent the usual butterflies into a frenzy and goosebumps started down your back. You watched as the beautiful Belle sang her way through the village and tried to ignore the nagging voice in your head that was telling you to lay your head on Bucky’s broad shoulder. After continuing to watch absentmindedly, a large warm hand landed on your thigh just above your knee. Your eyes snapped to Bucky’s hand currently on your leg, thumb softly rubbing circles just above your knee sending electric pulses straight to your core. You peered over at him through your lashes, his eyes were locked on the screen but his lips were pulled into a soft smirk.
God, his lips, they were so damn distracting, he was so damn distracting. All you could think about were his lips kissing their way down your neck, breasts, and stomach to the one place you needed them most. You wanted to tangle your fingers through his chestnut locks and ride his tongue like your life depended on it. You felt a rush of wetness between your thighs and you bit your lip as you prayed that he would never stop rubbing his thumb in those delicious circles on your skin.
You snapped your attention back to reality when Bucky leaned over and whispered in your ear, “Okay, Sam might have you on this one, doll. I mean seriously, the teacup, c’mon?”
“Oh chill out, you haven’t even started to witness greatness yet,” you whispered back.
Bucky chuckled softly and his warm breath lingered for just a second and you relished having his mouth so close to you, relished the feeling of Bucky Barnes whispering in your ear. You smiled softly at the man next to you and he returned it with a cheeky grin, his hand giving your thigh a tiny squeeze. You trained your eyes on the screen in front of you and forced yourself to watch the rest of the movie wtih wild thoughts about Bucky running through your mind. Before you knew it, Tale as Old as Time started pouring through the speaker and you took a deep breath.
As soon as the credits started rolling, Bucky’s hand slid up your thigh before it left your leg and he looked over at you with a goofy grin on his face. The sight of his smile made your heart skip a beat or maybe stutter, you couldn’t decide which but your heart was going haywire. The lights flicked on overhead and you stretched your arms over your head before getting up, Sam was serenading the room with his rendition of Be Our Guest. You and Bucky shared a look before both snickering at your friend, Steve was by the door shaking his head.
“So, tin man, what did you think of my pick? It was wonderful, wasn’t it?” Sam goaded, giving Bucky a small shove.
“Birdman, there was a talking candlelabra,” Bucky snorted, and you grinnned.
“Oh, don’t you talk about my man, Lumiere liike that!” Sam exclaimed.
Steve laughed heartily as you mocked Sam behind his back, he spun around and you quickly dropped all expression from your face but it was too late he definitely saw you. Sam scooped you up around your knees and tackled you into the couch, you cried out in surprise and before you knew it Sam was ripped off of you and Bucky was standing worriedly close.
“Y/N, are you okay?” He asked, concern written all over his face.
“Yeah, I’m fine, seriously it was more of a shocked sound than anything,” you reassured him and took the hand he offered to help you up.
“But, I am starving so can we get food?” You asked with a playful smile.
Bucky grinned and motioned for you to lead the way so you did, heading up to the shared level. While everyone was in the elevator, you bickered about what to eat and none of you could agree so you decided to just do your own thing.

Part Three will be up soon! Comment and leave me some feedback :)
“Where have we met” with Bucky 897 from @alloftheprompts
“Where have we met?” He asks sounding surprised when his hand seems to know yours. You’d crashed into him when you’d rounded the corner. He was like a brick wall he was so solid. You tumbled to the ground landing square on your ass. He’d reached down a hand to help you to your feet, out of instinct you’d taken it.
“I-I don’t think we have?” You stammer looking up at him wide eyed. You’d remember a man like him. Bright blue eyes that seemed to notice every detail. He’s got dark brown hair that falls past his chin, at least some of the pieces that have fallen out of the bun on the back of his head are to his chin. He’s got stubble on his face, more than a five o'clock shadow but less than a full beard. He’s quite a bit taller than you too, the top of your head is just even with his shoulders now that you’re standing.
“I swear you seem so familiar to me. Are you sure we’ve never met?” He questions again peering down at you, you can’t believe this gorgeous man seems to want to know you.
“I think I’d remember someone like you.” You tell him, he tucks his arm behind his body a bit more before you realize how rude you must have sounded. “Oh, oh no. I mean because you’re handsome.” You stammer and you can feel yourself turning bright red. “I-I mean.” You can’t believe you’ve just said that.
“Oh, wow. Thank you.” He says quietly when you look up at him you’re surprised to see that he’s turning a slight shade of red. “You’re beautiful, honestly, thank you.” He smiles down at you and you tuck some hair behind your ear. “So I may not have met you before but maybe I could get to know you now?”
“Wow.” You laugh, “I mean, that was one hell of a line.”
“It wasn’t a line, I swear.” He grins down at you with his hands splayed open and in front of him. “Can I at least buy you a coffee?”
“Yea, that’d be nice.” He gestures toward the coffee shop on the corner.
Sebastian Stan X Reader Location: New York, Brew (Coffee house) Warnings: Langue, Smut "That is a personal question don't you think?" You say looking up at Sebastian. Observing his features more clearly. With his oceanic blue eyes that are more pellucid than the Indian Ocean. Or how you could literally follow with your eyes or trace softly with your fingertips the alignment of his unshaven jaw. "Then what is it?" Sebastian asks inching away with a quizzical look on his face. "As soon as it comes to an end, we will go our separate ways once more." "But that is what you wanted." He said reaching his hand out taking yours into his. "Well then I've changed my mind." You respired deeply before undoing that last hook on your bra. And just like that the enigma of how you encountered one another dissipated around you both. As every touch began to collide..." 5 It was like falling down a rabbit hole. Your surroundings changed within a blink of an eye. It was a very alarming and overwrought feeling. Truthfully, the more you encompassed in your path you felt awakened. The noise was so loud you could feel the vibrations of the music inside you. It replaced the rhythm of your heartbeat. The walls were decorated in black that appeared to be covered in rip stop nylon. Reaching out your hand to feel the texture out of curiosity. Though suddenly the feeling was replaced with Sebastian's hand on your lower back. You slightly jolt your body forward to move away his hand, hoping he didn't notice. Thinking it over and over in your head why did you even move away? Reaching the entry way your eyes needed to adjust to the scene. Finally leaving the dark hallway you were standing in the heart of the floor. Neon lights flashed all around and the floor was painted in a sparkly silver color. That looked as if they were millions of crushed stars beneath your feet. "You dazzle all your fans like this?" You say to him over the music. " I didn't know you were a fan." He says pretending to be shocked. Stopping in the middle of what you presumed to be the dance floor. You turn to where you could face him. "How do I know you are not a crazy psycho who just disguises himself as a nicely dressed stranger?" You try to say in a serious tone but end up smiling anyway. "You trusted me this far." Nodding his head so you would follow. You pick back up walking again. Following in behind him he leads you both to a section where his friends are engaged in a very animated conversation. Until one of his friends notice Sebastian approaching and gets up to embrace him in a hug. Pulling out his phone the guy positions his phone as if to take a selfie but starts recording a video. "STAN THE MAN IS HERE LADIES AND GENTLEMAN !" He then takes one last shot of his drink before cheering. Turning back to face you Sebastian introduces you to his table of friends. Waving sheepishly you greet them. Suddenly realizing you're waving with your left hand the arm where you carried your bag on. "Shit!" You say under your breath, but loudly enough where Sebastian hears. Catching his attention he looks at you to see what's the matter. "My bag, I must've left it in the cab." You say frantically. "Your bag is right there." Sebastian points to your handbag. "No my bag with the books I got today." Out of no where one of his friends interrupts. "Oh wait! You must be her!" He says staring you down. Until one of his female friends hits him on the shoulder. "OW! The hell was that for?" He winced, while rubbing his arm. "Do I know you?" You say to him confused by his remark. But they all just grin at you in a robotic way to mask the awkwardness arising. Feeling something vibrate in your back pocket you pull out your phone. Touching the home butting illuminating the screen you see you have two missed calls from Sawyer. Your coworker at Brew the coffee house you work at. "I have to go." You say looking down at your phone. " Nice meeting you Sebastian." You look at him once before turning around walking away. Hoping that your feet would suddenly become glued to the floor forcing you to stay. You hear him call out your name. Rushing through the crowd you lose his voice through the echo in the crowd. Crushed ,you don't bother looking back. Practically running through the glass doors. You see Sawyer emerge from around the counter. "You're late." She says briskly tapping her wrist. "I know I know I'm sorry!" You plea. Bypassing you Sawyer starts rearranging chairs. Looking around it was practically dead in there. Putting your purse underneath the counter and clocking in you tie your brown apron around your waist. Grabbing the dirty coffee mugs off the counter you hear the bell in the room. That usually meant there was a customer. Setting the dishes down you walk over to the register. Recognizing who it was you greet her from a distance. "So what can I get you?" "You come in the bookstore everyday ?" She asked scooting her familiar red pointed glasses down to the bridge of her nose. "Practically live there." You slightly laugh. It was the woman who works in the book store. She doesn't order anything at first she just squints her eyes at you. Leaning over the counter she continues. "So what's he like doll?" She asks. "I'm sorry?" "Don't be so coy! You know very well who!" She winks. "He's one fine fella I tell ya." She says as she smacks her chewing gum. "I wouldn't really know I just met him." You say smiling at the memory of what just happened. "Really?" She said sounding shocked."The way he came in looking for you would've fooled me." {Part 5 out of 10}
