Went to the Cockrell Butterfly Center today and taped a good portion of their exhibits! I had such a blast, I swear that place is utterly and truly my happy place. Can you name all these bugs?

I found a lovely snail at work who was dried out so I let him have a shower and he seemed to enjoy it!! 🐌🚿
@rozugold
bumped into my neighbor who told me about how when she was mowing she found a praying mantis and while pointing it out to a another neighbor ran into a group of 4 men and also asked if they wanted to see and they enthusiastically agree
so, she takes them to see it and notices that these men are almost giddy over this bug so she starts asking questions and turns out they are from various African countries, are scientists travelling on some sort of research grant, and one of them in particular is specialist in insects and they were all just on their way to their Air B&B
like. Imagine you arrive in this foreign country to study its local bugs, you get off the plane and start walking to where you are staying, and some old lady stops you and is all "hey! Come look at our local bug!"
All gathered up for supper...
Beetle pile!
Posting wasp propaganda because my ass is seething yo!
Update! Edited background to be lighter for better legibility, usually use grey backgrounds for artwork and forgor that it probably wouldn’t be great to read!
Some cockroach munchies I've captured!
The roaches are faring very well and slowly "opening up" more. They're hiding less and exploring their enclosure a lot more. I wish I could catch them eating more often but they're shy lol. I may attempt some handling later today.
It's also feeding day for the beetles, so I'll go pick up some crickets for them later today!
I just want to share my favorite bug facts you-tuber Privileged Bug Facts. His voice is very calming to me and he he has so much interesting content.
The freeze lifted today and while it is still cold, it's much warmer and sunnier now. I kept this white tipped black moth in my care during the dangerous temperatures and decided to release it back into nature again today. It was very bittersweet.
Thank you for staying with me little moth, and I hope that your journey will be safe. I'll never forget you!
Some of my bug art 🪲
I found a cold white tipped black moth taking shelter on my apartment door earlier today and hand fed it some honey water to help it get through this freeze.
Well I opened the door to go smoke a bit ago and the moth from earlier fell and was nearly frozen. I prepared a quick enclosure for it and brought it inside. It's seemed to have defrosted and it's crawling around now. I'm going to try hand feeding it again tomorrow. Hopefully it'll make it and I can release it after this freeze is over...
I want to see more species-affirming body mods in nonhuman spaces and I want to see them NOW
I don't know if it counts but I dyed my hair green to feel more buggy. I also want thumb spines someday.
Roach belly... Beautiful!!!!
