Thinking of Whumpees with curly hair.

And how quickly that would tangle. How fast Whumpee's hair would knot. How quickly would it become matted and untameable?

If they're not restrained, maybe their hair would get to them. Would they try to desperately run a few fingers through it, smooth it out? Cry when it gets tangled and tight around their fingers? Or would they find the first sharp object and try to chop it off?

When rescued, would Caretaker try their best to clean their hair? Cut out the worst, unsalvageable chunks and the rest is spent in the tub. Gently washing through whumpee's hair, careful on their scarred scalp. Trying their best to be gentle as whumpee cries.

Whumpee who's captured again.. and they just give up. It's a new Whumper, they might not even know what whumpee's been through. Maybe they're not even as awful as the original whumper, but whumpee has already given up. Because last time, they never managed to get out on their own, and they know for sure no one is coming now. So they fall back into everything they had to do under Whumper no.1.

And the new whumper? Well, they're delighted that whumpee is already trained.

Whumpee rescue that goes awry– whumpee slips from caretaker's grasp right as they're almost out. Like Orpheus and Eurydice.

Caretaker finally finds whumpee, after all this time. They can finally take them home.

And as caretaker tries their best to get whumpee out– whumper's been knocked out, hopefully, and they're running and trying so hard to keep their grip on whumpee's wrist or hold onto them, pulling them along. But maybe, whumpee trips. Whumpee stops for a moment, catching their breath, and Caretaker thinks it's fine. Sure, after all whumpee's been through they can have this little break. After all, they've made it this far.

But then caretaker turns around. Whumpee's gone, pulled along or crying as they're dragged back to a new area, whumper is now on the run with them.

Whumpee will never be saved or see Caretaker again, at least not now.

Recovering Whumpee who prefers to sleep on the floor.

I mean, it's not because they don't like their bed. They do like where they live now, with or without Caretaker.

The comfort can just be overwhelming sometimes. Or they just feel so very exposed, lying on a bed in a huge room so easy for — anything to happen.

Maybe before, they hid just the same to be safer from Whumper.

So maybe they prefer to pull their blankets down to lie on the floor at the side of the bed. The kind of hidden so if someone walked in they wouldn't see them. Or maybe underneath the bed, covered by covers like some sleeping beast. And it's comfortable.

Maybe Caretaker is a bit worried at first, but they do all they can to try and make an area just as comfortable for Whumpee. Maybe it is under the bed, or under a desk, and they string a little bit of fairy light or have a drawer for all of whumpee's things, things to help with the pain, food, trinkets. Just everything they can do to make sure Whumpee is comfortable. Because they deserve to be.

Whumpee who so desperately wants to be who they were before.

So whumpee tries. They try and try to be the person caretaker and whumpee's team remembers. Who whumpee's family remembers, their friends.

But it begins to feel like a caricature of who they were before. And it's honestly.. unsettling.

People close to whumpee don't know how to feel.

Recovering Whumpee who is pregnant, but isn't ready for the baby. Maybe whumpee hasn't even processed it– maybe they leave the planning, and the baby names all to their partner.

Maybe they don't know how they feel about the baby, but they can't tell their partner or caretaker this because whumpee knows how much it means to them. Maybe they were only able to get pregnant from a curse or an experiment, and their partner really wanted to try. Or maybe the baby was just something they didn't really want, but their partner did.

And how could they not, in the heat of the moment? Maybe whumpee thought they wanted this, too.

But now a baby is on the way, and whumpee is feeling even more isolated and mortified at how their body is changing. And the mood swings, the sickness, all just brings round memories of their past that they've been trying to forget. Do they really want this baby?

Maybe whumpee was able to ignore it for the first few weeks, first trimester even. Like how they could ignore their scars just out of view. But now they look down and can see undeniable proof of what they're going through. What they're still on the bridge on even as a baby comes closer and closer to being due.

Would Whumpee snap? Would they break down? Or would they just suck it up, spiralling as they come closer to the due date.

Whumpee who was captured, snapped and brainwashed. Whumpee who is fighting against their old team, family, friends, and is fighting with whumper or on the same team as whumper.

Whumpee who believes so firmly that Caretaker was always working against them. Whumpee who knows that whumper is the only one who will stay.

And when the team finds out just exactly who whumpee is, who they were to them– it all starts to unravel.

Whumpee turned whumper who wasn't saved, now is harming Caretaker-turned whumpee.

Caretaker, who'd been with whumpee for so many years, maybe before it all. Had been so close to whumpee, horrified that they'd never been able to save whumpee in time.

They thought they'd never see Whumpee again. But here they are, and caretaker is crying. Crying for the whumpee they couldn't save, who whumpee used to be, and themselves.

And whumpee is crying, too. Because they're doing this to caretaker, but why?
