DC Comics Buildables Series 1 The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Batman, Robin and The Joker
Today we take a look at the Buildables brand of toys, a set that can usually only be found in vending machines (or in this case online auction websites).
As you can see the toys come inside the head. You crack open the head and inside you find the body of the figure. The head then snaps onto the body of the figure and voila, you have an adorable figurine called a Buildable that doesn't really do much but stand there and look cute.You can mix and match the heads of course to create quite a few combinations but beyond that there isn't much to them.
The first assortment includes The Flash, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Robin and The Joker. The decos all seem to be based on the classic DC Universe look except for The Flash, Barry who is sporting the New 52 style belt. Personally, I think this idea is pretty ingenious. I'm surprised this gimmick hadn't been thought of before now because really it is simplicity at it's finest. Only thing I would be worried about is the wear from rolling around with a bunch of other different plastic balls. The plastic wrapping/tape helps to keep the figure together while in the machine and I'm assuming adds a little bit of protection against scuffs and rubbing against the other balls. Also these aren't really meant for expensive collecting so I guess that really isn't that big of worry.
