#bujo future log

This year’s future log for my bujo featuring grid washi tape. I just got that tape for Christmas and I’ve been using it in every spread so far!

This feels like a "new years" color scheme with the sparkly silver and black, and I absolutely love the way it catches the light ✨

I set up my future log in my next bujo! I used this gorgeous colorful wall with gold foil on the edges of my mini Dutch door layout, and carried the colors in to the borders and titles.

I'm starting this bujo in June, so June doesn't get a future log column because I set it up immediately. I expect this 128 page notebook to last 4 months, so I have the remaining three months on the first half of the future log. Behind the flap I have one extra month and an "and beyond" section so I can jot down notes for the first monthly setup of my /next/ bujo (and beyond).

I added these two smaller lists to my future log, and they have been super helpful! The top one reminds me of all the different places I pull from when setting up a monthly, so I can truly see the whole month at a glance. And the bottom section lists all the tasks that happen each month, like paying rent and reading papers for weekly journal clubs, so I don't need to rewrite them in every future log box.

It took seven bujos to realize that if I start my new notebook in September, I don't need September in my future log!

Otherwise I kept my layout pretty much the same, using my silver Uniball gel pen to make boxes that are a nice neutral gray and shine really beautifully in the light :-)

I marked Jewish holidays and fasts on mini cals and the bottoms of monthly boxes in a light blue Staedtler fineliner. I have February and a "beyond" box to put stuff that falls past the scope of my future log as well, on the next page.

Some pics of my future log, with some tips that work for me:

I don't put a future log column for the first month in the notebook, since I set up that monthly right away

I put as many months as I think the notebook will last +1-2, then put an "& beyond" column for anything further into the future

I mark Jewish holidays in my mini calendars and write them at the bottom of each month's column

My spouse has a schedule that changes every week or two, so I write their different blocks in my future log because it helps me make social plans and whatnot

I have recurring monthly tasks (bills, monthly meetings, etc) that I don't like writing in every future log column, but forget if I don't write them down anywhere. So I made a "recurring monthly tasks" list and wrote them all out once!

I don't put every little thing in my future log. Birthdays are in their own spread, some things are just easier to put on a digital calendar, etc. So I have a little checklist for setting up my monthly logs so I can make sure I've pulled info from all the relevant places when the time comes

In my future log, each month’s list usually looks pretty short until that month is a few days away, because I only make a monthly spread the on the last day of the previous month, or sometimes the first day of the new month! But when I migrate notebooks, that effect is even more extreme. I switched out of this notebook at the end of December, so my January future log list is way longer than usual!
