ポンコツ浪漫大活劇 バンピートロット (2005)
steambot chronicles is an excellent game that was ahead of it's time
kind of a redraw of something I made years ago
Impossible from Steambot Chronicles (2005)
Where do I
Fit in the picture of your world
When you’re soaring so high
And I am left alone?
Steambot Chronicles (Bumpy Trot) is one of the most underrated game I’ve ever played. This game is so fun and there’s tons of things to do. Fighting with your trotmobile, customize it, became a musician, collect fossils; heck I think this is the first game you can become a uber driver lol. Also, herbs pun.
It’s a shame they had to canceled Bumpy Trot 2 :(
Granzella’s Kazuma Kujo is known for his work on the Disaster Report series and 3D Dot Game Heroes, but he recently made a comment on how he’d like to bring back the long-canceled Steambot Chronicles 2, the sequel for another title he was known for, Steambot Chronicles.
When asked by a fan if he’s still developing Steambot Chronicles 2, Granzella’s Chief Creator Kazuma Kujo responded with the following:
Are you going to develop Steambot Chronicles 2? I still listen to its music and play the game… I really hope it gets developed!
Kazuma Kujo: “Thank you very much. Steambot Chronicles 2 is a regret of mine that I wish I could bring back to this world today. However, there’s not more I can say about that now. I’m sorry.”
For those of you unfamiliar with Steambot Chronicles, it’s a 2005 sandbox-style action RPG for the PlayStation 2 that was developed by Irem who announced a sequel, titled Poncotsu Roman Daikatsugeki Bumby Trot 2 in Japan in 2006. Steambot Chronicles 2 was originally announced for PS2 but it was then revealed to be in development for PlayStation 3 and showed off its new cel-shaded look with a trailer at Tokyo Game Show 2007. However, few years later it got canceled alongside Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
Shortly after the cancelation of Steambot Chronicles 2, Irem decided to focus on pachislot and pachinko development, which led Kazuma Kujo and several Irem designers to form a new company that ended up becoming Granzella in order to continue game development.

Steambot Chronicles first released in Japan in June 2005 for PlayStation 2. Atlus published the game in North America in May 2006 and in Europe by 505 Games in October 2006.
Okay wtf, this is a criminal case of a game’s marketing being wrecked by a name change! I want to say ‘wow how have i never heard of this cool game’ but I HAVE HEARD OF IT, I just had no clue it was actually this!
In the west it was renamed Steambot Chronicles and they tried to market it like a generic robot action game. So like.. OF COURSE people are gonna be dissappointed when they get a funky Friend-Em-Up sandbox game instead! And people who wanted animal crossing with robots wouldnt know this game had it! God damn you whoever made that decision!!
And seriously cmon, Bumpy Trot is a way more catchy and intriguingly unusual name, yknow? And it fits the gameplay! I mean you really are just going on one long adorable bumpy ride around town. A trot is also a dance step so it has a double meaning with all the music-based minigames and characters. And its cute!! It lets you know the game is cute!! The rare few people who actually played this thing describe it as “if GTA was wholesome” and thats a way better advertizement than hurr durr we have no confidence in westerners liking a game that doesnt have explosions >_>
Also what’s funny is that it got a case of redrawn boxart, but they kinda made it look more anime than the actual game?? Like they turned a shoujo style into a more generic shonen!
