late bunker era Dean cooking all the time whether from stress or for enjoyment and feeding Sam every. chance. he gets. so within a year Sam has filled out even more and his arms are huge his back is mesmerizing his chest is soft and god Dean couldn’t be more in love with his baby brother
I need more bunker era Sam and Dean doing aftercare post-hunt. I need these old men to stretch for once in their goddamn lives, or help each other bandage sprained knees and ankles, or massage a knot in their shoulders…
That bunker smoothie thing didn't let me go so here's a ficlet about it:
______
Dean only ever wanted what was best for his little brother — that obviously included his health too.
Noticing that Sam was eating less even though the bunker kitchen gave them more free reign than ever before, Dean started to get worried. He'd just need to find a way to feed Sam better.
After some deliberating he decided to start with the smoothies that Sam actually drank. There were probably some supplements he could add and if Sam didn't want to take care of his health by himself, Dean just needed to help him.
Full fat coconut milk instead of reduced, protein powder and vitamins were easy for Dean to add and with every cup of smoothie Sam drank, Dean felt something in him preen at taking care of his brother.
Sam had been a little surprised when Dean had started making them for him and he may be indulging Dean by drinking every single one but that didn't matter to Dean as long as Sam kept on chugging them.
Dean was alone two weeks later, Sam out to see some abstract art performance or movie or whatever. He hadn't really listened to what exactly it was after it was clear that it was some boring artsy shit.
A few beers too many had Dean fall down a rabbit hole on the internet all about vitamins and supplements. Others might say it was a bit obsessive, trying to force his brother to be healthy but Sam was the most important person in his life, so what did they know.
Later he didn't even know how he got to the page but he had stumbled on the risks of low hormones in men, he had decided to add some of that to Sam's smoothies too. Risking low energy and concentration issues or even bone loss weren't something they could afford in their line of work. Mood swings and a reduced sex drive where indicator of low estrogen which had made Dean read further into the issue, worried that Sam was already suffering from it. He didn't even know the last time Sam had gotten laid and if that had to do with his hormones, Dean was the one to fix it.
So a few days later Dean's newest ingredients arrived and he couldn't wait to add them to Sam's daily smoothie or shake Dean made him.
"Here," Dean said, sliding the shake of the day in front of this brother. He had opted for berries today instead of greens because he hoped the sweetness would mask the new estrogen pills better.
"Thanks," Sam said absentmindedly, by now used to Dean's newest "quirk". He didn't even look at the cup when he pulled it closer to take a long sip of it.
Dean watched him swallow the drink, watching his throat bob with it. It send a thrill down Dean's spine as he sat down, watching Sam slowly make his way through the smoothie.
"That one was really good, Dean," Sam said a while later when he had drained the cup.
"Yeah?" Dean asked, clearing his throat, hoping that he didn't sound too giddy. "Thought you might like some variety."
Sam hummed in approval. "Yeah."
------
Weeks passed with this regimen, Sam not batting an eye at Dean's action anymore which he was glad about. So far he didn't feel like it was doing anything but it certainly wasn't hurting so he just kept it up.
At least that was what Dean thought until he overheard Jody and Donna talk to each other after a successful hunt turned catch-up dinner.
"You notice anything about Sam?" Jody asked, shutting off the kitchen tap.
"Yeah, you mean the way he's looking, don'tcha?" Donna asked, the plates she was drying clinking together.
Jody must have hummed or nodded because Donna continued only a few seconds later.
"Gotta ask what he's doing with his hair, it's gotten so long and shiny. And then, those hips, make a girl jealous, doesn't he," Donna said.
Dean felt a little stunned and confused, had Sam really changed and he hadn't noticed? He leaned in a little closer to the cracked door, hoping they wouldn't spot him.
"He's always been the work-out type but that's what I thought too," Jody said.
There was some more shuffling and mumbling before Donna laughed loudly. "Oof yeah, don't think I'm gonna ask for that but maybe 'bout the shampoo he's using."
Dean stepped back again when he heard the restroom door open behind him, not wanting Sam to find him snooping. He sat back down in his chair, the empty beer he had wanted to exchange for a full one forgotten. Sam came back into the room a moment later and Dean couldn't help but stare at him, trying to find what they women had talked about.
"Something on my face?" Sam asked when Dean kept staring at him and he quickly shook his head.
"Nah, dude," Dean just dismissed him.
—
Back home two days later Dean finally had the chance to see all of the changes in Sam. His brother had stepped out of the shower room in just a towel.
"Dean!" He yelled, walking into the war room and making Dean do a double take.
"Y-yeah?" Dean asked back, eyes stuck on Sam's naked upper body.
"The heaters out again, can you?" He asked, shifting from one foot to the next.
Dean only blinked for a moment, eyes still roaming over Sam.
"Dean," Sam snapped a little.
"Uh, yeah, sure," Dean finally said, staggering out of his chair and down the hallway towards the boiler room.
He was glad that he could fix the water heater without much thought because all he could think about was the way Donna and Jody had been right. Sam did look different and Dean would have probably not even known what had changed if Jody and Donna hadn't said it.
Sam had filled out in some ways, his hips maybe a little wider, his pecs were… Well, Dean's fucked up horn-dog brain wanted to call them tits now. Dean had to swallow down excess saliva as he thought back to the water dripping down Sam's chest.
Shit, what he had been doing was really working. Sam looked good, healthy, like a fucking wet dream.
The heater turning back on made Dean jump a little, pulled from his thoughts and he had to shake his head.
"Fuck," he breathed to no one as he walked back up the stairs towards the war room.
Sam was already gone when he came back, probably trusting Dean to fix the problem and Dean was simultaneously glad that he had time to process Sam's change alone but also already missing the view.
Dean made his way to the kitchen next, determined to make Sam his daily smoothie for when he got out of the shower — his plan was obviously working but that was no reason to stop now.
Can’t stop thinking about bunker era when they have a fight and Dean can’t find Sam until he looks in the impala parked in the bunker garage and Sam is curled up in the back seat asleep.
Dean was in trouble, in a sense. See, he had seen his brother in the showers. And that was fine, except that Sam had been singing and dancing to Queen. In a decidedly not little-brother-innocent way.
And the trouble all came from the fact that he couldn’t possibly ask Sam about it, because then he’d have to admit he’d been spying on his brother’s showers. Like the pervert he was. And Sam knew he was a perv. But Sam might feel that watching him in the shower was entirely too much. So Dean just let it be.
Except that something seemed to have gotten into Sam. He was much more provocative, and he started wandering between the showers and his room in just a bathrobe. Dean was losing his mind.
It wasn’t the last time Dean ever saw Sam putting on a show in showers either.
Dean’s baby brother obsession was reaching new heights. It was bad enough he could no longer see Sam without a blush. And Sam, the bastard, didn’t even seem to notice! Dean felt like he had a crush, and Dean didn’t do crushes! Dean was cool. Dean was suave, mature, smooth with everyone…. And Dean was totally flustered by his baby brother. Dammit.
After about a week of this torture, Sam beckoned him. “I got something to show you, Dean.” Dean followed, because of course he did, because it was Sam and what else could Dean do?
Sam brought Dean into his bedroom, then went over to the dresser. He pulled out a box that Dean hadn’t seen for years. It hasn’t shown up since Stanford almost. Dean got nervous. “It’s okay, Sammy, you don’t gotta—“
Sam cut him off with a bitchface. “As if I’d be showing you anything if I hadn’t already thought about it. I thought you’d enjoy finding out how I made money at Stanford.”
Dean tilted his head, confused. “I dunno, I just kinda assumed you made green juice in college, or something.”
Sam’s mouth grew noticeably thinner. “Ha ha,” he said flatly, “but no. I was—“ he opened the box and poured a bunch of photos on his bed “—a stripper.”
Dean choked. “S-sorry did you say…. Stripper?”
Sam nodded cheerfully, picking up a photo showing him in a gorgeous flamboyant pink, sheer robe, complete with dyed feathers. Dean choked again.
“My baby brother…. A stripper. A-are you…. Gay? Was your relationship with Jessica a… what do you call it?”
Sam laughed. “Lavender relationship? Nope. I’m pansexual. Interested in everybody.” He caught Dean’s eye meaningfully. “Everybody.”
Dean flushed.
Sam grinned. “Why don’t you look at those photos? Long as you want, and if you help me install a pole, I’ll even give you a private show.” He winked, and practically sailed out of the room. Dean was left speechless.
I like to think Dean routinely indulges in getting a barbershop shave and haircut. The classic 50s atmosphere, a male space focused on knife skills and tender touches, the gossip, the pretending-not-to-be-high-maintenance of it all. There's no way he doesn't become a regular at a place in Lebanon

Fic Summary:
Sam and Dean crawl into their motel room on Christmas Eve, beat up after having taken on some ornery fairies. They awake, feeling not only refreshed and invigorated, but also to discover a winter wonderland has sprung up in their motel room, crowned by a tree with all of their most cherished - and lost - gifts resting beneath. They open them, one by one, and share a magical day, reliving only the happiest memories of past Christmases.
I think spn fic writers are sleeping on writing time travel fics to the 40s-50s when American Men of Letters were still alive, and exploring Sam and Dean's relationship with Henry, and even meeting Henry's father, and MOL being shocked by the future and by the boys' behavior like Henry was when he traveled to the future, and Sam and Dean hating MOL because of their strict hierarchy and like restricted access to the knowledge depending on your rank, which will INFURIATE Sam... So many unexplored possibilities... Someone write a fic I'm beggin'
