I like to think that Albus Potter looks and is basically the reincarnation of Regulus Black. That's it. That's all I'm saying.
Last night I dreamed about nanotech tattoos. That could be really cool, depending on what kind of story it is.
Optimistic: you can change your tattoo any time you want, to reflect mood and identity and plot. It's great.
Pessimistic: rivals and criminals can hack your tattoo, and change it anytime they want. It sucks.
Dystopian: the government/corporation own your tattoo, and can change it anytime they want. It sucks a lot.
Rom-com: you meet someone else with a tattoo that says "soulmates don't exist" today, and you hit it off surprisingly well.
Comedy: this is a shiny new world for the possibilities of "kick me" signs.
And I'm sure there are plenty more I haven't thought of yet.
Oh! Detective. Dead bodies with clues they coded in just as they were dying, and shifty witnesses who don't dare say out loud what they know, but they can turn at a certain angle so their tattoo is visible for juuuuust a moment...
Okay wait i had an interesting thought. walk with me here - Shapiro and dubois dont die in the explosion, yao and the secondary captain for the mission do. Grace doesn’t have to go to space, BUT the hail mary needs a captain, so stratt volunteers and is sent along her merry way with ilyukhina and dubois. She wakes up a couple years later to find her crewmates dead. She is the sole hope for humanity’s future. How does she do?

Gay Cheerleaders AU
Y'all knew it was coming.
I'm thinking Lena would be the... third(?) year veteran, who is a legacy. Her mom Lillian was also a cheerleader, and then became the head honcho in charge of the cheerleading division. Lena grew up with the expectation of eventually joining the organization as a dancer, and naturally becomes a group leader (the youngest 1st group leader in the history of the organization?) through her sense of responsibility, magnetism, and compassion, even if she remains a little distant-- she doesn't share her whole self with the team, as she's constantly aware of needing to present the image of a perfect cheerleader, a perfect leader.
Kara would be the rookie, immediately awed by Lena's performance during tryouts. She's not in Lena's group, but her own group leader faces some... personality challenges, lets say, that have Kara taking on more of a responsibility than would normally be allocated to a first year dancer.
But when Kara and Lena end up bumping into each other in the studio for some solo practice, they agree to share the space and work together. Of course they end up bonding, and those practices lead to coffees, lunches, some movie nights.
They eventually become the darlings of the team, inseperably so. Young fans try to catch glimpses of them standing together on the sidelines, loving to see Kara acting herself (aka goofy) and seeing Lena laughing in response. Behind the scenes they become romantically and sexually involved, but they keep it hidden because while it's not explicitly forbidden, they do cheer for a very conservative state, and they know it would impact not only their squad but the team overall.
In their day jobs, Lena is a children's dance teacher-- she wants to do more, but Lillian wants it for the community-service image it presents. Kara would be a fitness trainer I think, something lucrative but flexible and reflective of her athletic and exuberant nature whereas Lena is a bit more reserved.
Kara and Lena span multiple seasons/classes, and in the off season Lena pops up on Kara's instagram a little bit here and there, which only fuels the quiet online rumors about them. Like, the people who clock them are also queer in a conservative region of the country, so it's not a mass pop-culture phenomenon-- yet.
That all changes when one night Lena is grabbed inappropriately by a cameraman or other stadium employee, and can't manage to extricate herself despite her obvious and vocal discomfort. Kara sees red. She slugs the man right across the jaw with a proper right hook. The cameras had only just started to pan over to Lena's commotion and catches the exact moment Kara lunges for him and spins Lena out of his reach.
Kara is the champion/brute of the moment, depending on who's talking. Some laud her for both her protectiveness of her teammate and her technique, while others condemn her for unladylike vigilantism. Why didn't she let the security team deal with it, she serves a role model for young girls what is she teaching them the thug life?
Most importantly-- and most dire, perhaps-- is that it clues Lillian into the deeper nature of their relationship. She corners Lena, and interrogates her as Lena tries and tries to deflect. Lillian all but tells her that she'll be watching Lena through a microscope, and terrifies Lena to the point she breaks up with Kara in an attempt to protect her tenure with the organization.
Kara doesn't really care about all that, but when Lena says it's what she wants, she respects that. Until the team goes to the superbowl, and in the height of emotions at the winning touchdown, Lena forgets herself and throws her arms around Kara's neck and kisses her.
She's stunned at herself, horrified even, but before she can even try to apologize Kara recovers and kisses her again, this time long and slow. The cameras not on the players or stadium stands are focused on them, and the next day and weeks they are the only ones anyone can talk about, for better or worse.
Lillian uses Lena's next year, her fifth and final, as leverage. Apologize publicly for her lapse in judgement, confirm it was only ever friendship, condemn Kara for assault-- or she's out.
Lena listens calmly, then smoothly rises.
"Then I'm out."
She walks out without a second glance.
You know all of those ‘JLA doesn’t know that Batman is Bruce Wayne’ fics? You know how, by now, Batwoman is kinda her own franchise only tangentially related to Batman? I think it would be really funny if Bruce didn’t only not tell the JLA his secret identity but neither Kate, his cousin.
Just; one day Kate decides to tell the League her identity, everyone is pleasantly surprised. Oliver and Ray congratulate her on joining the multi-millionaire club, Hal and her have army solidarity, Flash tries to figure out a way their civilian identities might overlap, so they can be friends out of costume, etc. But Clark kind of looks at her weirdly because he can swear Kate Kane reminds him of something.
Kate notices and says: "This is your only opportunity to ask me about my cousin. In the light he always overshadows my family, my work, me. But luckily I do my best work in the dark. So, ask whatever question you have about him now, because I won’t let him loom over me here as well."
Of course, the league is confused (and Batman very silent) until she explains that her cousin is Bruce Wayne. Everyone kind of wants to ask, but also well it’s not about him. So the most pressing questions are asked (‘Is his charity work actually real? Or a front for the mafia?’ ‘It’s real’ ‘Is he actually who he seems to be?’ ‘An idiot playboy? Regrettably, yes. Though his soft side is real, too') But otherwise and going forward everyone refrains from asking her questions about him (even if they really want to ask if the boat-dace-party-turned-nude-archery-party was real.)
What did surprise many was that a. She’s not Batman’s wife, b. No, she doesn't know who he is either, c. no, she really doesn’t know, d. She really doesn't, they don’t even have the same villains and only occasionally work together outside the JLA.
As time goes on Oliver and Kate grow closer. After she came out not many invited Kate to galas but at Bruce's and some others galas she’s still invited, so Oliver and her can now covertly talk at them and then complain about them afterwards. And well knowing someone’s secret identity makes them more palpable so even on the watchtower she grows closer and talks more about herself. From time to time she starts talking about her cousin, too, but not in the way that it feels like her conversation partner really would rather talk to Brucie, but in the way you talk about weird ass family members.
All is fine and dandy until one day the JLA is kidnapped (routine) and the bad guys take a DNA sample of everyone and compare it to the policies database (not quite routine, but not terribly rare either). Now, Kate has erased all traces of herself from any database and while Batman’s sample does give them a result, Bruce has entered his actual DNA under a fake name and fake DNA under ‘Bruce Wayne’ so they get a positive for a ‘Murphy Smith’.
However the bad guys also compare the DNA of the superheroes with each other (absolutely not routine) and find out that Batman and Batwoman are either cousins or great-grandson and great-grandmother (or reversed). They try to taunt Batwoman and Batman with the fact. “Oh, we just found out something interesting. Turns out you two are related, Murphy” while the taunt was ineffective as a ‘we figure you out!’ It was very effective as a ‘I only have two cousins and you're not Bette what the shit Bruce’.
Both being professional they don’t mention it until the bad guys are apprehended and they return to the Watchtower. At that point all bets are off. Apart from the inherent tragedy of Kate always being overshadowed by her cousin as a civilian and now as a superhero as well, “You could have fucking told me” “You did not entrust me with your secret identity either.” “Because you pretend to be a fucking moron!” “In order to protect-” “Holy shit, the Robins are your kids, my cousins are all goddamn superheroes!”
(Later she demands to meet all her cousins once removed for a family meal and, honestly, Bruce is just happy that all his children (including Jason) agreed to come. So what if the JLA now knows his identity? He got to have his family dinner.)
(PS: It took the JLA a good ten minutes after Kate and Bruce left to put the piece together. Neither the tabloids nor Kate’s stories made Batman being Bruce Wayne reasonable.)
(PPS: Kate is a bit older than Bruce and remembers more about ‘Aunt Martha’. They never really talked about her or Gabi Kane and neither is great at emotional talk but somehow it helps them both to reminisce)
