I’ve been working on this #redtailed #hawk since 2016, just after my mom died. I wanted to start something big, to kind of commemorate her. A #bird seemed fitting. Then it sat, #rusting, for a long time. I started working on it again after I lost #nora (A very vocal redtail lives near where I buried her, so that was some motivation.) 🐶💙🦅 The #feathers are mostly #salvaged #butterknives, the #wood #wing feathers are from a #hickory tree I cut down up at home the weekend of moms memorial service. The #tail is #cherry. It’s probably the most #challenging #piece I’ve attempted. And I’m very honored to share it with you today. The design was very much inspired by the phenomenal work of @carlseanmcmahon ; please check his stuff out, you’ll see instantly why.
