This Steak and Mushroom Grilled Cheese is a hearty and flavorful way to step up your grilled cheese game. Inside two pieces of golden, buttery bread are layers of melted Swiss cheese, then there are thin slices of steak and mushrooms that have been sauted. It's a gourmet take on an old favorite!
Ingredients: 4 slices of thick bread. 8 oz cooked steak, thinly sliced. 1 cup mushrooms, sliced. 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese. 2 tablespoons butter. 2 cloves garlic, minced. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Melt one tablespoon of butter in a pan over medium heat. Cut up some garlic and put some sliced mushrooms in the pan. For about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are soft and browned. Add pepper and salt to taste. Take it out of the pan and set it aside. Spread out two pieces of bread on a clean surface and cover them with shredded Swiss cheese. Place a thin slice of steak on top of each piece of bread's cheese. Put the same amount of sauted mushrooms on each of the two sandwiches. Add the last two slices of bread to the top of each sandwich. Melt the last tablespoon of butter in the same pan over medium-low heat. Carefully put the sandwiches in the pan. Cook for three to four minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts. After taking the sandwiches out of the pan, let them cool for a minute, and then cut them in half diagonally. Enjoy your tasty Steak and Mushroom Grilled Cheese while it's still hot!
