The world building is wonderful, the writing is amazing, and I am SO INVESTED in this story! The tone does bounce around - it gets really dark at some points in ways that the first chapters do not prepare you for. Also, the gen parts get more attention than the shippy ones - Tim gets strong relationships with a LOT of other characters and I love them all! The series is LONG, but each part gets a very satisfying conclusion. (Finally: designated villains, which includes a number of heroes, undergo some character bashing in future parts. If you have a fave you couldn't handle seeing interpreted in that way, you can ask for more info.)
