Love this baby. The leaves have such a charm, plus all the colors and purple back of the leaves as many calatheas.
I always recommend to water them small amounts but often and consistent. They love humidity and can't tolerate dry soil. That's when they show their dramatic Mexican telenovela skills.
Calathea Rufibarba
the fluffy and soft leaves are stunning. This baby has a few new leaved and growing.
✓Keep humidity high (65-90%). You can also group tropical plants to increase the humidity a bit.
✓Keep soul moist. Humidity will help you with that, but complete the finger test and give a sip when the top is feeling dry.
✓Medium indirect light is perfect for this calathea.

I repotted my baby and found do many rhizomes. They store proteins and water and it means the plant is healthy.
For the soil mix, I used potting mix, perlite, bark, coffee grounds & smart release fertilizer.
Can't wait to see her grow more!!!!

Never give up on your plants but also don't freak out.
Always sit back and think about what you've done differently. What could be lacking?
My Calathea white Fusion was not getting enough Humidity. She almost die last year, but research, eliminated the things I knew I was providing properly and it came down to humidity.
I moved her to a better spot and I was very consistent with the watering checks and she is back! 💕
Calathea Warscewiczii (Jungle Velvet)
I've had him for 8 months and he has grown well since then. Do you see the new unfolding leave?
Many calatheas are native to the jungles in central America and therefore require high level of humidity. We call them dramatic, they are just lacking basic needs and protection.
This is what has worked for me:
✓Water very little when I see a couple of leaves drooping. Usually every other day or every three days.
✓Medium indirect light (recommended by the seller @sloplanttherapy , thanks for the tip, I've followed it! 💚😬)
✓Humidity levels around 60-75%.
> I didn't have a humidifier until around February 2021. Definitely recommend it.
> If you don't have one, group plants together. This one and most of my calatheas are in my shelves on the second floor. I used to mist them at least twice a day as well.
✓ I talk and sing to them. Sometimes I even dance with them! 😜
