drizella gives the best hugs to be honest -- you just wouldn’t know that because earlier on in her attempts at starting anew, she’d grow rather tense and uncomfortable when she gets hugged first or given any type of affection in fact.

Alby is sitting on the couch when he hears the door open and close, and the familiar sound of Newt’s shoes on their hardwood floor. And indeed, a few seconds later comes the call, “I’m home!” 

Alby doesn’t bother telling him to be quiet, since the little tangle of limbs already heard him as well and has opened her eyes, looking up at Alby with the biggest blue eyes he has ever seen on anyone. Her cheeks are pink from sleep and she’s drooling a little, but still as adorable as ever.

"Hi - oh," Newt says when he enters the living room and spots them, his tired smile growing to a wide, truly happy grin. "How is my sweetheart?"

"I’m great, thank you."

"I meant Laura, you dick."

"Watch your language."

"She doesn’t understand me anyway," Newt replies as he slides down his knees next to Alby, hovering over Laura. The baby makes another sound, highpitched and seemingly excited, her tiny hands reaching out for Newt. He laughs and presses a kiss to her forehead, gives her his hand so she can play with his fingers (and suck on his thumb, but that’s okay). "No really, how is she?"

"She doing great," Alby says, "and I am too." He leans closer to Newt, being not-so-subtle about what he wants and smiling when Newt finally pecks his lips. "How was your day?"

"Long. Missed you both."

Alby sighs in contentment as Newt settles down against him, Laura still holding his hand, and he feels Newt smile into his skin as he replies. “We missed you too.”
