Now is not the time.
i can’t even look at text post jokes about this. its gone too far this time and it’s genuinely scary and not something that will just fade away with time like everything from 2020. it’s like march 13th when we were all sent into lockdown the first time all over again except much more sudden and much more intense. this will have a lasting effect. it’s not something you just see in the news and go “oh, there goes 2020 again” this is real. this is real and it’s scary.
Sooo I’m pretty sure that I (accidentally) radicalized one of my classmates today-
So my AP Human Geo teacher led a discussion on the events of last week (Jan. 6th) and we talked about impeachment and the political divide and unrest in America. When my teacher brought up socialism, I asked questions (to see if she would say the same things all teachers do; spoiler alert, she did) and one of my classmates kept asking more and more about communism and socialism, and I kept adding in things like “but isn’t communism also when society is classless, moneyless, and stateless, not just when the workers own the means of production” and such, and my classmate was like “you know, communism, when not influenced and turned into things like Stalinism, is actually pretty good and cool” and she went on a mini-rant and I was like “yessssss” and then my teacher, when explaining communism, said that it was like Jesus like “everyone is living in harmony :))))” and I just started cracking up because she’s so close-
Sorry if that was incomprehensible-
When people in other countries suffer and die under dictatorship, you are silent at best, or just plain victim blaming. When anything happens in your States, you demand, you literally demand the whole world to care about you.
From the bottom of my heart, fuck you all.
Conservatives be like: “FINE. The Capitol Storm was terrorism but- BUT-!! That means blm protests were also terrorism! 😤”
Fucking clowns.
Here’s my favourite quote from this whole thing
Some rando right wing pundit on Fox news claiming there were “fascist antifa elements” involved in the Capitol storming.
Fascist Antifa
Fascist ... Antifa
Facist Antifa
Judge Carl Nichols noted the differences between the summer protests of 2020 and the January 6th storming of the Capitol for his reasoning
Let’s play a game of one of these things is not like the other. There were the Portland protests in the summer of 2020 where many people took to the streets in protest of the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others. Then earlier this year there was the January 6th insurrection where people advanced upon the Capitol to stop Congress from certifying election results.
But don’t just take my word for it. According to Newsweek, Carl Nichols, a judge appointed by former President Donald Trump, rebuffed an accused Capitol rioter’s claim that the Department of Justice should investigate social justice protesters in Portland. Nicholas went on to state in a December 21st decision:
“There are obvious differences between those, like Miller, who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and those who rioted in the streets of Portland in the summer of 2020,” Nichols wrote in his decision.
“The Portland rioters’ conduct, while obviously serious, did not target a proceeding prescribed by the Constitution and established to ensure a peaceful transition of power,” the judge added. “Nor did the Portland rioters, unlike those who assailed America’s Capitol in 2021, make it past the buildings’ outer defenses.”
