I've never talked about how she battles so here you go lol
Caramel's weapon of choice is a combination wrench! Which when fighting a badnik (or any other robot) she climbs onto it and swiftly locates as many nuts and bolts as possible to unscrew and try to get and dismantle the power source. Her fur is very soft which makes it difficult for a metal robot to get a solid grip on her while she's working (this issue has been combated with rubber padding on some bigger, more specialized badniks).
When fighting organic life forms she just hits them with her wrench when needed. Though, she's much better at fighting robots than people, she still is pretty slippery when dodging.
Caramel, because she's half fox/half rabbit, has an insanely far/tall leap which she uses to her advantage in dodging attacks or jumping onto giant or flying badniks.
Tell me more about Caramel and Cara’s friendship. I know the tiniest bit about they first met, but how did they first trust each other? How did they work in a way that kept them loyal to each other for so long, despite growing differences?
hi smihi! i think this is the last caramel ask of the day? unless i get one in the next hour lol.
this is fun! this ask made me realize i've never been asked this before, which is interesting since caramel and cara's life pre-tov is RARELY explored in the book. you only get a tinge of it in cara's pov chapters because, unlike caramel, she's not super guarded.
okay! let me not yamble before we actually start, lol. without further ado...
day two of tcw askmas--caramel and cara's pre-tov life [tov & sai spoilers]
alrighty. lemme answer this in parts based on what you specifically asked:
a) how did they first trust each other?
cara trusted caramel because she had been watching her for a while before caramel had approached her, and she already admired the "girl on fire" who was so skilled at magic, as though it was second nature. she was also desperate for any type of socialization, so really, she would have befriended anyone who talked to her.
for caramel, the reasoning is slightly the same, slightly different. see, cara was basically mute for the first year or so of their friendship. she was completely unsocialized, hence the inability to speak. on top of that, she was sickly-looking, scrawny, and basically looked like she was a cold night away from dying. caramel took her in because 1) she wanted a friend, someone who wasn't hilbert to talk to. someone that was her age, that was a girl, and that wasn't mean. cara fit all of the above. on top of that, the girls had an immediate bond when they realized they were both dancers (albeit opposite elements), and cara actually helped caramel learn the tiniest bit of water magic that she knows. meanwhile, caramel helped her perfect her general forms and learn to be daring/experimental with magic. magic helped them bond quite a bite, to be honest.
but when it comes to how they STAYED trusting each other and loyal, that has a lot to do with hilbert.
b) How did they work in a way that kept them loyal to each other for so long, despite growing differences?
hilbert. and trauma bonds.
caramel never thought cara noticed. and honestly, there were a lot of things that cara never DID notice. but efuiheniuhfuf fine i'll just share the except screw it.
anyways... as you can tell by the excerpt, hilbert did a lot of shit to caramel growing up. and this is only the stuff cara noticed. caramel made an effort to hide a lot of it (you know how our girl is... constantly guarded and self-preservational), for the main reason being the following: she was protecting cara.
see, caramel knows things about hilbert. the ways he sees people as projects or opportunities. and cara is one HELL of a water-dancer. to the point where caramel in tov is constantly surprised at just how good cara is. and guess what--hilbert had his sights on cara too.
so in an effort to keep them distant and avoid cara being hilbert's next "project", she took more of his time, attention, and (let's just call it what it is), abuse. all while shielding cara from it all.
in that way, cara felt a sense of security and protection and safety with caramel, and caramel found a sanctuary, normalcy, and someone to love enough to want to protect them from the entire world's evils.
they became each other's safe spaces, and their crutches. this is why i say caramel's overprotectiveness vice is complicated. because, yes. she is incredibly possessive, especially over cara. to the point where she actively tries to sabotage her relationship with morreial for a little bit because she's scared of losing cara to him. but with the context of their history, there's so much sympathy and nuance i attach to her her possessiveness. because i can see why in her eyes, keeping cara close to her is keeping her safe and therefore an extension of her love. because for literally a decade of their lives, that was true. every act of possessiveness caramel extended towards cara protected her from hilbert and society (when they were theives). if all of a sudden, they are in this new, safe, and secure environment, it would be hard for her to unlearn that "being possessive isnt' an extension of love" and that is was actually more harmful than helpful.
she ends up learning that lesson eventually. a small fraction of the lesson learned was with cara and morreial. but its mainly with alan that she learns that lesson, because her acting possessively with alan actively ruins her relationship with him, rather than saves it.
anyways, i hope that answered the question. cheers!
So caramel turns evil?? What do her parents think about that? (I have no idea about Tail's and Cream's relationship with Caramel.)
Caramel had a pretty loving relationship with her parents growing up!
Tails and Cream knew Caramel had a positive relationship with the Eggpire, they always tried scooting her away from that but in the end they were pretty heart broken so see their only daughter turn into the knew villain to terrorize the town.
Cream was more adamant in trying to get Caramel to make knew friends when she was younger, to try and find the better in the world, so Cream is very upset with herself for "pushing too hard" on Caramel.
Tails was more supportive of Caramel in hopes to try and steer her in the right direction by being there for her, but that didn't work either so now he's upset with himself for "not trying hard enough" to keep her away from villainy.
They both try to have a positive relationship with her after she turned evil (since she's still their daughter), but since Tails grew up a hero through and through and Cream has a good heart it makes reunion dinners veryyy awkward, lol.
She was the only scout not scared to sell Eggman cookies, and then mombot looooved her so she was kinda adopted into the Sonic Boom Eggman family (Eggman, Mombot, and Steve/Morpho), then things just got worse from there with all the bullying she suffered from being a hybrid because kids are mean. She had a lot of pent up emotions in her teenage years so when Grandpa Eggman retired he left his empire to her- she didn't do anything with it at first until she finally gave in and tested the waters in villainy, lol. She ended up becoming a full villain as an adult and going by the name "Cara" because "Caramel" was just too sweet sounding for a villain.
For the second day of Christmas I ask of thee: What would Carmel's response have been if Alan had chosen Hilbert in the end?
~Wyked~
hi wyked! i almost forgot to answer this oop i was on a writing bender.
for everyone who didn't ask! i have written ~4k in my writing session so far? idk not as much as i'm used to, but i kept getting distracted so L.
ANYWAYS, BACK ON TOPIC!
THIS IS SUCH A PHENOMENAL ASK MWAH MWAH! let me not waste anymore time and let's just get straight into it.
day two of tcw askmas--caramel and alan's loyalty to hilbert [sai spoilers]:
okay this is a doozy. in a what if situation where alan chose hilbert over caramel, we're assuming he knows not only about hilbert's crimes, but also caramel's specific relationship to hilbert. and if he didn't, then that would be the first thing she's doing. she'd tell him everything as a last-ditch effort to get him to bail out before he got in too deep.
but see... here's the controversial part of caramel. if alan chose hilbert over caramel, she'd be heartbroken. she'd be utterly betrayed. BUT! she would still force alan to choose her.
now you're like HEHHHHH NAVEENA WTF DOES THAT MEAN??? FORCE HIM HOW?
caramel quite literally claims that "no crime is beneath her" when it comes to separating alan from hilbert. so in an au where alan CHOSE hilbert over caramel despite knowing everything, she would revoke his ability to choose at all.
fun fact! this is canon :D
do you see why i hate their fight in sai now?
thanks for the ask, wyked! i told you caramel has some really interesting spoiler lore 🫠🫠😭😭👹👹
Mother's aren't supposed to have a favorite child or whatever but what child is Caramel's favorite?
hello slat 🫡 coming in hot with a controversial one. i like it
day two of tcw's askmas game--caramel's maternal favouritism [spoilers for CoS]
tldr: fawn.
long answer below:
caramel is complicated as a mother. for starters, she's kinda been on the motherhood bandwagon since she was 17? (lol not spoiling that but you'll find out if you finish tov). the point is, she is heavily exposed to motherhood at a young and immature age, and it makes her a very lenient and "cool mom" kinda mom.
UNFORTUNATELY, the ending of sai stagnates whatever development she would've had into mature adulthood and keeps her in that limbo of "friends with her kids more than their parent" kinda ordeal. and then when the evan incident happens, its like she flips a switch and becomes SUPER STRICT? OUTTA NOWHERE?
there's a little tangent i go on in one of my outlines (i think gotn?) where i describe evan's relationship with his mother as "hot and cold". when she's present, she's fun and charming, and a loving person. but she doesn't really feel like a "mother" necessarily, mainly because of the "cold" part, where she is so absentee, she never really builds that maternal bond with her children.
she almost sees them as extensions of herself in a way, mainly because she hasn't had enough time to learn their personalities and their interests, what scares them, what empassions tem, all of those important things. all she sees is the parts of herself she recognizes in them, and the parts of alan she adores in them. but as their own individuals, they barely exist.
that's why she can't see elenfa's cringe whenever she asks her where her free-spirit went. she doesn't notice how evan doesn't eat anymore. and she loves fawn because fawn is as free and charismatic as she wanted her children to be.
oof. yikes forever. i made her sound like a terrible mother.
listen... the ending of sai will contexualize a lot of things. i promise. but i promise you, there is a turning point. it just takes some time and a lot of hurdles (womp womp)
Caramel ask day, I see? I'm giving her a handful of caramel candies, how does she feel about that? (On a more serious note, how does she feel about luxury?)
hi ilia!
day two of tcw's 12 days of christmas asks--caramel, the candies, and her opinions on luxury [spoiler free? i'm pretty sure]
i like the sillies. for the caramel candies, she'd probably monch them all up. if you told her she just ate caramels, she would snort and accuse them (the candies) of stealing her name.
on the more serious note--how does caramel feel about luxury? she likes the status symbol. she adores what it means to her. she likes things that are fancy and extravagant, or things that make her feel "safe" in that way. she steals for safety, after all. she doesn't need it to survive (physically), but mentally, it stays her crutch.
there's actually a scene in tov (morreial's chapter--chapter 18? yes. chapter 18), where she steals his shirt because she likes the material of the fabric. before that too, he invited her to his parents' old mansion and the first thing she did was raid his mothers' closet and steal her fancy robes. she likes things that tell her she's someone in society--that she's welcome, she's important, and that she's safe.
HOW DID I PSYCHOANALYZE HER IN THAT ONE ASK LMAOOO
