Grilled Fig Tartines are a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, featuring caramelized figs atop creamy goat cheese on grilled bread slices.
Ingredients: 4 slices of crusty bread. 8 fresh figs, halved. 4 oz goat cheese. 2 tbsp honey. 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar. 2 tbsp olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh thyme leaves for garnish.
Instructions: Set a grill or grill pan over medium heat to get it hot. Use olive oil to cover both sides of the bread slices. Toast the bread slices on each side for two to three minutes, or until grill marks show. Lemon juice and honey should be mixed in a small bowl. Put fig halves on the grill with the cut side down. Cook for two to three minutes, or until soft and caramelized. Put goat cheese on the grilled bread. Put a grilled fig half on top of each slice. Spread the honey-balsamic mixture on top of the figs. Add pepper and salt to taste. Add some fresh thyme leaves as a garnish. Serve right away and enjoy!
