A letter to my Carat self;

CARAT DAY 💎

I'm writing this as I lsiten to Campfire by Seventen, you might wonder why I'm listening to that song instead of Shining Diamond, it's because this is my comfort song. If I want to dance like crazy, feel like I have a shoulder to cry on, and look for the light amidst the darkness. Although it is hard to pick a favorite song from all Seventeen's masterpiece, I must say this is the one I love the most.

Loving One direction for 10years, ever since their day one, I never thought I'd love and stan another group aside from them. Year 2017, I already know that there's a group called "Seventeen" and I remember asking my classmates why is it called Seventeen when they only have thirteen members. back then, I only knew Jeonghan (the guy with the long hair), Vernon (who has distinct features and easy to remember), and Woozi (who was my friend's bias with tiny eyes). That was the Seventeen group I knew, years ago.

I remember asking my friend who was teh guy with big cute eyes and said it was S. Coups, the leader, and he was my first bias. When Home;run's mv teaser was uploaded, my friend teased me that my bias was in the thumbnail which was my second bias, Jun. I swerve a lot, I know.

October 19, 2020 was my first day as a Carat (but I was not aware back then) I watched home;run mv to support my Carat friend in streaming and the next day I was humming the song. I rememeber putting #SVT in my bio but I was not a fulltime carat back then. My first gose episode was the tag which was in my youtube recommendation list for a very long time.

i enjoyed watching them be the best person they are on and off the camera. Seventeen on-cam is just the very same ones when they are off-cam. Watchin One Fine Day, their trainee day videos and posts of how they struggled made me love them more.

I never knew I would love another group as how much I loved One Direction. I never knew that day would come. And here I am, celebrating my Valentine's first Carat Day.

To Seventeen,

Thank you for being my campfire amidst the darkness, for being the people who reminded me to row my dreams beyond the parallel lines and that I don't need to rush, thatt I'm doing fine as long as I just stay as I am because my journey starts with me.

"Though we’re far away, the memories bring us closer, if your heart has a hole, I’ll cover it with my hands, even if your hands are empty, give them to me so I can fill them up" sounds like a marriage vow to me but that's what makes you precious to me.

You guys deserve the world and teh world deserves to see more of you.

Seventeen, I will always say your name no matter wheere life takes me.

Seungcheol, Jeonghan, Jisoo, Junhui, Soonyoung, Wonwoo, Jihoon, Myungho, Mingyu, Seokmin, Seungkwan, Hansol, Chan, you guys are the place I can come to, a place I can go to, you are my Home. You are my healing.

It’s Carat day and I’m feeling supper nostalgic so I was watching live performances of Adore U and I can’t believe how much each of them have improved live it’s crazy. It feels longer ago than it actually was and I still remember the feeling of finding them a few weeks after debut and excitedly making “grown-man-woozi” and there was literally NO content on tumblr. There were a few veterans posting but I could go 3-4 days not seeing any new content so I started making my own and suddenly, within a month or so, the fandom started growing. Around Mansae era it really grew and then with Pretty U it EXPLODED and suddenly there were more tumblrs than I could keep up with and it just keeps growing and growing! Our little fandom sure has grown and I am so incredibly proud of our boys and how far they have come. Welcome all Carats, New and Old, and #HAPPY_CARAT_DAY ✨💎✨

Carat

Just last night I felt hopelessness. The pressure I cannot bear. The feeling of just giving up. Last night since I couldn’t sleep, I continued watching Going Seventeen episodes and I slept happy again. Now I am crying my heart out again, in the bathroom listening to the songs of Seventeen. Today is Carat Day. Seventeen has reminded me that it may be a dark, lonely, tough road, but they are there to light it up. Through my sleepless nights, it’s them I have been watching. 

I hope someday, when I am out of this winding road, I will be able to meet them. Thank you Seventeen for being here during these moments.
