Bellver Castle🏰 is a Gothic-style castle on a hill 3 km to the west of the center of Palma on the Island of Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain🇪🇸. Bellver Castle🏰 is a Gothic-style castle on a hill 3 km to the west of the center of Palma on the Island of Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain🇪🇸. It was built in the 14th century for King James II👑 of Aragon & Majorca, and is one of only a few circular🎯 castles in Europe. The castle's plan🏦, a circular floor with round towers attached to it, seems to have been inspired by the upper complex of the Herodion, a 15 BCE hilltop palace in the West Bank. At the top of the mountain⛰️ in the middle of Cullera, dominating the city and the sea🌊, there is an impressive fortress🏰. It once was walled🧱, although those walls no longer remain. The original fortress was built during the Caliphate🕌 period (10th century) with the purpose of controlling the coastline and the estuary of the Jucar river. After King Jaime👑 conquered Cullera in the 13th century, he ordered a new castle to be built over the ruins of the Moorish castle and it was given to the Order of the Hospitallers Knights. There are still the rest of the old towers, forming part of the old walled area on the mountain. Buenos días! 🙋 ☕ Hoy veremos un lugar de esos que me emocionan, un lugar de esos que te sorprenden, pero de verdad. Se trata de la Ermita de Santa Maria de Melque, simplemente acojonante 😍 Estamos ante el edificio de época visigoda mejor conservado de España, con una carga histórica brutal. Esta ermita fué parte de un monasterio de la época y qué época es esa? Pues la baja edad media, fué construida en el siglo VII, hace la friolera de 1400 años, algunas de las pirámides de América ni existían cuando levantaron este templo. Por esta iglesia pasaron hasta los templarios, que aunque ya no están tan de moda, todavía la gente se acuerda de ellos por las películas de el código Da Vinci... en fín sigamos.
