It may have been a shock, at first, but danny was happy in this new dimension. In this world where superpowers and mad scientists and aliens were common, he felt right at home.
Of course, he had made sure that the hero's of this reality were doing an okay job before he settled down, he'd rather use this as a chance at living out the rest of his half life then just another place to patrol, you know? So he stalked the heroics scene for a while... and with the third world ending threat sufficiently taken care of by this "Justice League", danny felt that he had the green light to actually make himself an identity.
Only... he didn't want to give himself a new family, that felt disrespectful to all his old one had done for him.(even if things only cooled down after his parents had been given irrefutable proof. and some therapy.) And he didn't want to just steal an identity either. But he REALLY couldn't claim amnesia with all the strange habits he had, so... What could he do to show up out of no where with no paperwork and a vaguely spooky aura.. A cat! He already thought of his ghost form as his cat side anyway, so it'd come pretty naturally, he reasoned. And if he could get his hands on a computer, he could probably still do online courses! Oh his plan was perfect!
So a big fluffy cat it was! Black of course, for the ~spookiness~ but danny couldn't resist dappling his fur with some stars as well.
Stray cat living... wasn't bad, given he didn't have to eat and he could turn intangible, but it wasn't a breeze either. Cat haunts were REAL apparently, and half the city he'd bedded down in was controlled by one MASSIVE clan with the craziest cat lady he'd ever seen as its leader. The woman practically lived in black cat ears and a black mask!
He eventually made the decision to lay low in the nastiest part of town. There weren't any other cats here because the drunks were so numerous, and from what he could tell, apparently got a sick pleasure out of kicking any animal whose ears stuck up. The ghosts here were plentiful too! So at least he had company.
The only unfortunate thing about this arrangement was the constant twitching from his obsessions. First of all, he couldn't see the stars, and second of all, people were beaten up, mugged, kidnapped, and everything in between! He could've sworn someone was supposed to be this place's protector! Where did that guy go! He was going to have to figure out what was going on with the local heroes..
