This used to be a blueberry bush. In fact, both my bushes are now nothing but barren stems. Still to the next pic to see the culprit! * So, thanks to a great gardening group the hungry beasties have been identified as yellow necked caterpillars. Who apparently LOVE blueberry bushes. So what’s a sustainable gardener to do here? Kill the caterpillars to prevent them from killing next years bushes too? Or let them live, thus possibly feeding birds, bats, and other insect living animals? * Found a compromise. Removed them from the tiny spot they were still on and carried a bucket full of them down the street to a wooded area and let them go. 🤔 Not sure that was the right choice but I feel slightly ok with it! #organicgardeningproblems #caterpillarsofinstagram #sustainability #gardenpests https://www.instagram.com/p/CTXQGg5sBmy/?utm_medium=tumblr
