✨Hard Truths✨ in the Catholic Church
(with love ❤️)
Abortion is murder
Your political party should not determine your beliefs, the church does. A political leader is not God.
Virginity is sacred and should be kept to the confines of marriage
Lust is a sin no matter what pop culture tells you about ‘sexual freedom'
Tarot cards, witchcraft, astrology, or any other occult practice IS demonic and opens doors to demonic activity
Spiritual warfare is a real thing
Confession is necessary to receive God’s graces, you can’t avoid it and still go to heaven
Praying the Rosary is the best weapon for world conflict
Men and women are equals but have their own roles in God’s eyes
There are only two genders and you cannot change your biological gender
Being gay/lesbian/bisexual/etc. is NOT a sin but acting on those sexualities (i.e gay marriage/intercourse) IS a sin
You should love everyone regardless of beliefs, lifestyle, gender, or race
Kindness is not optional ♥️
You don’t have to agree with someone’s lifestyle to still be kind to them. Jesus shared meals with prostitutes and sinners, so you can too.
Just because you don’t struggle with the same sins as someone else does not mean that you are better than them or can judge them. God is the only one who judges sins.
Sola Scriptura does not work. Scripture AND Tradition work together to guide us to God.
You aren’t automatically saved after being baptized and accepting Jesus as the Son of God. You actually have to put in the work to get there.
Catholic friends on here: I need your wisdom on something. So today I went to volunteer at my parishes festival, I was planning on going to the morning Mass but a friend asked if we could go to the Saturday vigil together. I was in very casual clothes that I would never wear to Mass, and I didn’t have the opportunity to change in nicer clothes before Mass. I felt so guilty the entirety of Mass and spent half of it crying. Have I committed a sin?
do you know the Official Catholic Opinion™️ on being a potential blood + organ donor?
If the person is willing, then yes, the Church completely and 100% approves of organ and blood donation, including post mortem!
"Organ transplants are in conformity with the moral law if the physical and psychological dangers and risks to the donor are proportionate to the good sought for the recipient. Organ donation after death is a noble and meritorious act and is to be encouraged as a expression of generous solidarity. It is not morally acceptable if the donor or his proxy has not given explicit consent. Moreover, it is not morally admissible to bring about the disabling mutilation or death of a human being, even in order to delay the death of other persons" (CCC 2296).
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, […]
The Beatitudes are regarded as a tremendously important teaching within the Church. Christ gives us a set of characteristics that bring us to happiness in the life and in the next, and the weirdest thing is that they contradict everything that the world tells us makes us happy. As Catholics we are called to live a life of Beatitudes!
So I just left my first RCIA meeting and I'm so discouraged. My husband is an atheist, and they basically told me I couldn't become Catholic if we didn't have our marriage blessed in the church. The likelihood of my husband even setting foot into any church is zero, and will only happen when pigs fly. I'm wondering if it's even worth continuing the process.
I encourage you to talk with your priest further on it in private, because that just isn't true for converts. If you were not already married it would be true, but because you're already married the rules do change.
If your priest is still hard about that, I suggest finding a different parish and talking with them, or talking with the bishops office.
There is some lieu way with the fact that a spouse may be completely hostile to religion. I do think it is a good idea to speak with your husband, because if you're in RCIA and you are feeling this way, your faith in Christ is clearly important and your husband should be willing to understand, support, and help you with it, even if he doesn't believe it himself. Maybe just test the waters to see if he would be willing to get it blessed in a private ceremony for YOU. Not for God, not for the Church, but because it's important to his wife for it to be done. If he still seems hostile I wouldn't push it, but your parish is wrong you absolutely can be catholic and not have your marriage blessed if you're a convert.
As a friendly Word of Advice (WoA?? WA??) to anyone on this site who sees a post that talks about articles of the Catholic Church, including documents, letters, and other such publications:
If you have questions or concerns, please read the document. Please remember the rich 2,000 year history that accompanies these writings. If you still have questions, find a strong Catholic (preferably a priest or someone who has spent years studying these documents).
Don't take these documents, or one or two quotes from them, at face value if you have questions. Read them. Educate yourself. You have the means to do so.
