You might have already spotted this guy's cameo appearance in my Carnivac gallery. After that toy completely won me over, I made a note to try and find a modern Catilla in the dealer hall, Dark of the Moon Catilla being the only real option. I was very surprised to find something so small in a room so big and packed. Please enjoy my doomed yaoi photoset.

Are there any dimensions to Catilla joining G1 Predacons? and became an arm of Combiner?

At one point, Catilla would have been quite open to the idea of joining the Predacons, and Razorclaw likewise was on record to say Catilla would make a good fit for the team. As patient hunters do, they both were just waiting for the other to make the first move.

In the end, Catilla wound up ditching the Decepticon army entirely, so it never came to pass.

Rodimus Prime’s Corner - Catilla is patient and vigilant. He appreciates the importance of his job, so he has no probiem squatting down silently in his position and just observing Decepticon activity for however long is needed. Catilla knows that he'll eventually get to his prey, and he prefers to be fully prepared for when that happens. After stalking his targets, he takes great pleasure in their eventual destruction. Previous to the war, Carnivac and Catilla operated as part of an investigative law enforcement team.

wada sez: This strip is directly inspired by the Pretender Beasts’ appearances under Simon Furman’s pen in the Marvel UK comics, particularly across the “Survivors” plotline. Although Catilla’s toy was intended as an Autobot, Furman established him first as a Decepticon who later defected to the Autobots after the rest of the Decepticons abandoned them on Earth. Carnivac was more reluctant about the idea, but would eventually side with the Earthforce, with Snarler outright branding both as traitors. Fisher recreates these rough character dynamics here. The last Pretender Beast, Chainclaw, wasn’t part of that particular storyline, so he’s absent here too. In the comments on deviantART, Ackerman acknowledged that the coloring process had somehow made his lineart fuzzier; you can compare for yourself using the clean inks and colors below.
